Beverly A. Spielman
Beverly Ann Spielman, 57, of 821 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 7, 1939, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Max D. and A. Myrtle Biser Spielman. She is the stepdaughter of Loretta Spielman McFarlin of Hagerstown.
She was a 1957 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
She retired from Wright Gardner Insurance Inc., after 30 years of service.
She was a member of Hagerstown Grace Brethren Church.
In addition to her stepmother, she is survived by one sister, Juanita Shank of Williamsport; one aunt; two nephews; and four great-nieces.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hagerstown Grace Brethren Church, corner of First and Spruce streets in Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert L. Dell, the Rev. Raymond H. Davis and the Rev. Hayden L. Sparks will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Guy E. Habercom Jr.
ARLINGTON, Va. - Guy E. Habercom Jr., 77, of Arlington, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997.
He is survived by his children, Bobbie Liegus of Alexandria, Va., Alana Miller of Arlington, Susan Brockmeyer of Washington, D.C., Caroline Kirik of Orlando, Fla., Guy E. Habercom III of Palm Bay, Fla., and Bruce Habercom of San Diego; one sister, LaRue Duffy of Hagerstown; two half-brothers, David Habercom of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mark Habercom of Pulaski, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; his companion, Kathleen "Kay" Whorrell; and his stepmother, Nellie Mae Habercom.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery.

Charles E. Michael
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Charles Eugene Michael, 48, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.
Born Nov. 4, 1948, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Jerry R. and Helen F. Gallion Michael.
He attended Berkeley Springs High School.
He worked with the West Virginia Department of Highways from 1974 to 1987. He then worked as a truck driver and roller operator with Valley Asphalt Products in Clearbrook, Va., from 1987 to 1996, when he stopped working due to illness.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of Sons of the American Legion, Squadron No. 60, Berkeley Springs. He was a social member of Risinger-Stotler V.F.W. Post 4019, Berkeley Springs; and a member of National Rifle Association and North American Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Christine M. Steiner Michael; one daughter, Jodi A. Michael Fleece of Berkeley Springs; three sisters, Bernice Burk of Dallastown, Pa., Helen Mollica of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Linda Cundiff of Bardstown, Ky.; three brothers, Guy "Butch" Centini of Dillsburg, Pa., Leroy Divelbliss of Berkeley Springs, and Lloyd Divelbliss of Umatilla, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Charles Michael; and one brother, Ronald J. Divelbliss.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. William C. Swope will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Ridge Cemetery in Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 9 p.m., and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Monday for the convenience of friends.

Dr. Joseph C. Eshelman
INVERNESS, Fla. - Dr. Joseph Chalice Eshelman, 68, of Inverness, and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997.
He was born in Waynesboro, Pa.
He was a graduate of Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisburg, Va., and University of Maryland School of Medicine.
He was medical director for Family Care Center in Allen Ridge, Lecanto, Fla.; director of the emergency room at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown; emergency room physician in Uniontown; and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Florida State Academy of Family Practice, and Citrus County Medical Society.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Zeglen Eshelman; one daughter, Adriane Rene Sedlak of Hernando, Fla.; one son, Dr. Joseph Chalice Eshelman Jr. of Hinckley, Ohio; one brother, Jonas W. Eshelman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Kathryn M. Brewer
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Kathryn M. Brewer, 83, of Westminster, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born Jan. 28, 1913, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Fannie Martin Thomas.
Her husband, Guy L. Brewer Sr., died in 1983.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of United Church of Christ.
She is survived by three daughters, Mildred L. Brewer, Donna Rickell Green and Dolly A. Long, all of Westminster, nine sons, Kenneth T. Brewer of Palestine, Texas, Guy L. Brewer Jr. of Silver Run, Md., Earle H. Brewer of New Windsor, Md., Ronald W. Brewer, Marvin J. Brewer, Richard L. Brewer, Dean A. Brewer, Eugene D. Brewer and Mark L. Brewer, all of Westminster; one sister, Charlotte Brown of Hagerstown; one brother, Harold Thomas of Hagerstown; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Murray Thomas and Elvert Thomas.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. The Rev. Carl J. Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Clarence E. Shank
GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Clarence Edward "Pappy Sam" Shank, 71, of Gerrardstown, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Jan. 20, 1925, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Amos Miller and Pauline P. Orr Shank.
He retired from Shenandoah Apple Co. in Winchester, Va.
He served with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Rickard Shank of Inwood, W.Va.; two daughters, Linda Shank of Martinsburg, and Diane Hutzler of Gerrardstown; three sons, Dale Shank of Gerrardstown, Joseph Shank of Martinsburg, and Paul Shank of Swoope, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Amos Shank and Harry Shank.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Harold L. Hess and the Rev. John Faircloth will officiate. Burial will be in Mountainside Tabernacle Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by Newton D. Baker Post 896, V.F.W., and Berkeley Post 14, American Legion.

John A. Ronayne
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - John Aloysius Ronayne, 78, of Hedgesville, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born July 21, 1918, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late John J. and Agnes Gleason Ronayne.
He attended Georgetown University.
He retired from the Metropolitan Police Force after 27 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Hedgesville.
He also was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 1169.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Grant Ronayne; three daughters, Catherine Kelly of Glen Burnie, Md., Patricia Ronayne and Therese Sohr, both of Highland, Md.; four sons, John Ronayne of Richmond, Va., Robert Ronayne of Finksburg, Md., Michael Ronayne of Silver Spring, Md., and Patrick Ronayne of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters, Agnes Studer of Silver Spring, and Marie Dixon of Adelphi, Md.; and one brother, Tom Ronayne of Alexandria, Va.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with the Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. as celebrant. Burial prayers will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., where a vigil service will be conducted at 8 p.m.
The family will meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 10 a.m. before going to the church.
Gregory L. Troxell
FLORENCE, Kan. - Gregory Lynn Troxell, 46, of Florence, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, in El Dorado, Kan.
Born Dec. 25, 1950, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Phyllis Marie Kauffman Troxell of Hagerstown, and the late Donald Eugene Troxell.
He was employed at Texaco Oil Refinery.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in El Dorado, and OCAW union.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dayla Dodson, whom he married June 12, 1996; one daughter, Alissa Troxell of El Dorado; two sons, Jason Troxell and Ryan Troxell, both of Florence; one sister, Kim Harmon of Knoxville; one brother, Darryl Troxell of Hagerstown; and one grandchild.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Zeiner Funeral Home, 104 W. 5th, Florence. The Rev. Stan Seymour will officiate. His remains will be cremated following the service.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home, today from 5 to 7 p.m.
