Green field, MA - Beatrice G. (Gleason) Johnston, 82, of 405 Countryside died Wednesday, December 25, 2002, at Franklin Medical Center in Green field.
She was born in Bangor, Maine and graduated from Maine, prior to moving to Green field in 1996.
In her earlier years, she was an art teacher in the Bangor-Brewer school system. Her husband, Frederick, was a commander in the Navy and she was active in Naval organizations in the United States and overseas.
She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.
She enjoyed art, antiques, crafts, reading, and spending time with her family.
Her husband, Frederick Johnston, died in 1988.
Survivors include a son, Frederick J. and his wife, Virginia, of Middletown, Pa.; a daughter, Jan L. Kaiser and her partner, George N. Maniatty of Green field; a brother, Thomas E. Gleason of Phoenix, Calif.; and Sue Gleason of Phoenix Maine in the spring at a date to be announced. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Bangor.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Western/Central Wisconsin, Alaska and Virginia before coming to Sierra Vista with USASTRATCOM in June of 1967.
Payson held a series of progressively higher-level positions during his federal service years. He was most recently employed with the Sierra Vista office of SPARTA, Inc. Payson received the Commander's Award, Meritorious Civilian Service Award and numerous awards for outstanding and exceptional performance. He started GTA, Inc. in 1969, which is still operating in town today.
Payson is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Pauline of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; his sister, Barbara Pollard, of Gray; his mother, Aileen Tufts; sons Charles (Dava) Tufts of Oregon; daughters Sharon (Tommy) Henson of Nevada; grandsons Matthew and Kevin Wilkinson, and Jeffrey and Robert Tufts: granddaughters Cynthia Wilkinson, Pauline Wallace and Megan and Dana Tufts; and great-grandson Tyler Wilkinson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Payson's name to the American Cancer Society, c/o Marie Storment, 2160 E. Fry Blvd. St. C5 #343, Sierra Vista, Ariz. 85635.

Arnold C. Stansfield, 85

Arnold C. Stansfield, 85, passed away at Maine.
Mr. Stansfield was a very involved community member and belonged to many clubs, including: the Sanford YMCA, Preble Lodge No. 143, White Rose Chapter No 54 of Sanford and the Ruth Chapter No. 14 OES of Springvale.
While residing in Gray, he was a 30-year member of the American Legion Post 86, and he was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Gray, where he served as Deacon, Trustee and choir member for many years. He was also an original member of the Gray Gents a Barbershop Quartet.
rnold will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the community. All who knew him loved him for his integrity and humor.
He was predeceased by son, John D. Krause; brothers, Norris and Norman Stansfield; and a sister, Irene Sproul.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Agnes Hill Stansfield of Gray; a son, Robert Stansfield of Gray, a daughter, Sheila Krause Giancola of New Gloucester; a son David Krause of Keeseville, NY; a son, William Stansfield of Fort Walton Beach, FL and six grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, March 8, at the First Congregational Church of Gray. Pastor Douglas Hedstrom will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to: Gray Rescue, P.O. Aida Mary Wood, 68, died Friday, February 28, 2003, at Springbrook Nursing Home in Westbrook.
Betty was born in New Bedford, Mass. On May 11, 1934. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother of six children. She enjoyed bowling for many years and traveling with her husband in their RV, wintering in Maine Cancer Research, 45 Exchange Street, Portland, Texas, Michael Higgins and his wife, Judy, of Raymond, Mark Higgins of Gray, Lisa Doherty and her husband, Bob, of Casco, Eric Higgins of Portland, Lori Goodliffe and her husband, Kirk, of Washington and Russell Fox of Maine 04039 or Gray Rescue, 125 Shaker Road, Gray, Maine Turnpike, surveying the initial Turnpike from Augusta to Bangor.
From 1971-1983, Mr. Duhamel owned and operated Precon, Inc., a precast concrete plant at the Auburn Airport.
Most recently, he was employed by Harriman Associates as a Clerk of the Works for various projects. He was a member and past President of the Kiwanis Club of Gray.
Mr. Duhamel was married for 35 years to the former Virginia Moorhouse originally from Westerly, RI.
He is survived by sons, James R. Duhamel and his wife, Teresa, of Falmouth, Wayne A. Duhamel of New Gloucester, Mark R. Duhamel of Gray; a daughter, Susan J. Frye and her husband, James, of Raymond; and six grandchildren, Sadie, Travis, Jamie, Jolie, Chelsea and Jessie. His companion of 20 years, Sally Coolbroth, resides in Scarborough; a brother, Peter Duhamel of Providence, RI.
Burial will be in the Maine Veteran's Cemetery, Augusta. Arrangements were by Wilson Funeral Home, Shaker Road, Gray.
