WINDHAM - Roger P. Fernald, 55, of Smith Road, died at Maine. He enjoyed his work and his perennial gardens. He also raised Springer Spaniels and showed them. He is survived by his wife, Alice Powell Fernald of Windham; his father, Charles Fernald, Jr., of Naples; sons, Daryl S. Fernald of Bridgton, Kevin L. Fernald of Standish; stepsons, Michael S. Connor and Christopher J. Connor both of Windham; a special niece, Lydia Powell of Portland; a brother, Richard L. Fernald of Casco; sisters, Pauline M. Leland of Windham, Donna L. Martin of Windham, Shirley M. Smith of Casco, Susan A. Shaw of Raymond; and six grandchildren.
There will be no visiting hours, A memorial service was held at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham.

A memorial gathering was held at Gray American Legion Post 86, and burial was held at Gray Village Cemetery, Gray. Monsignor Robert Lavoie was the celebrant.

Erwin Eugene Barton

Erwin Eugene Barton,89, died August 23, 2003.
Born in Gray, May 26, 1914, the son of Ernest Clifford and Myra Frank Barton.
Mr. Barton graduated from Pennell Institute in 1931 and Wentworth Institute in 1933. He worked at S.D. Warren Paper Co., prior to CMP where he worked from 1942-1979, retiring after 37 years. Mr. Barton was a member of the Westbrook Fire Department, I.B.O.E.W., receiving his 55-year pin in 1999. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He built a camp at Moose River in Rockwood, Maine 04103 c/o the Activities Fund. There will be no service at his request. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Gray.
Arnie Walker

Arnie Walker, 38 passed away Monday, September 8, 2003, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Hartford, Conn., on June 4, 1965 and graduated from Windham High School in 1983.
Arnie worked for the Oliver Stores for nine years specializing in the sales and demonstration of grooming equipment and for R.J. Grondin & Sons for ten years, where he was respected as an excellent heavy equipment operator.
Arnie enjoyed snowmobiling, darts, golfing, boating and was an avid Nascar fan. Skiing and time with friends and family at Jackman and Mitchell Camp in Appleton and Louden, NH.
Arnie loved taking his daughter "Peanut" for rides on the snowmobile and 4-wheeler. They also enjoyed watching Tom & Jerry together. Arnie was a loving husband, father and son, who leaves behind his wife, Dianne Snow Walker; a daughter, Tyla-Ann Walker; parents, Gail Walker and Craig and Dawn Walker, two sisters, Tammy-Jo Walker and Jennifer Cole; and a brother Jeffrey Mongeau, all of Windham. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, Gary Snow of Naples; Janet Snow and Jeff Green street of Windham and many close friends.
The Rev. Mark Kuntz officiated. Committal was at Arlington Cemetery, Windham.
Arrangements were under the care of Wilson Funeral Home, Gray.
Sandra Whitney

Sandra Whitney, 52, formerly of Gray, died suddenly after a brief illness.
She was born in Rumford, the daughter of the late Robert and Catherine Blunda Cayer. She recently moved to Pensacola, Maine towns from 1938 to 1948 under the auspices of the New England Fellowship and Park Street Congregational Church in Boston, where she was a member for many years.
Grace taught Bible and Social Studies at Lexington Christian Academy in Lexington, MA. She also served as the school librarian. Miss Pierson enjoyed traveling, learning new things and most of all, spending time with former students. She touched countless lives through her zeal for learning and by her steadfast faith in Jesus. She was a resident of Havenwood in Concord, NH, for many years and enjoyed her volunteer work there a great deal.
She is survived by a nephew, Commander Robert P. Pierson, of Whittier, CA and an adopted sister, Betty of Limington, ME.
Arrangements were by Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord, NH.
Philip Pollard, 74

Philip Pollard died September 18.
He was born in Gray on July 10, 1929, a son of James W.B. and Sarah Hansen Pollard. He graduated from Pennell Institute in 1947, and was a former Selectman of the Town of Gray, member of the Library Committee, MSAD 15 School Board, the local Jaycee organization and the Spring Meadows Golf Club.
Mr. Pollard worked in the grocery business for over 55 years, first as a buyer and warehouse manager for A&P, then as owner of the Gray IGA from 1980 until 1992, where he continued to work until his retirement in 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Hatch Pollard, whom he married in 1950; two daughters, Susan Pollard, of Gray, Nancy Pollard Titcomb, of Sanford, and a son, Edward Pollard, who lives with his wife Karen in Monmouth; four sisters, Barbara Ryan, Jane Barton and Dona Hill, all of Gray, and Geraldine Cose, of Massachusetts; and five grandchildren, James Titcomb, Sara Titcomb, Kelly Day, Brittany Scirica and Lindsay Scirica.
A funeral was held at the First Congregational Church, Pastor Douglas Hedstrom officiating. Arrangements were by Wilson Funeral Home, Gray.
