Charlotte Wallace

Charlotte Bridgham Wallace, 78, of Gray, died January 8 at Maine in 1970, she taught second grade in Falmouth for 9 years. During this time, she developed and implemented a systemwide curriculum on the hisotry of Falmouth. This led to the publication of her book, E Pluribus Unum: A Story of Falmouth, Maine Audubon Society.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to Maine 04105.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday at the First Congregational Church of Gray, Pastor Douglas Hedstrom officiating.
Arrangements are under the care of Wilson Funeral Home.
Gregory Watson

Gregory Wallace Watson, 44, formerly of Gray, died unexpectedly January 29 while he was on vacation in Tombstone, AZ.
He was born December 6, 1959, in Framington, a son of Wallace R. and Doreen A. (Dyke) Watson. He attended schools in Gray and Ormand Beach, FL.
He worked for the family business at National Pool and Spa, Inc., and also had his own pawnshop business. His hobbies included racing go-carts with his children, which he enjoyed regularly, and his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
He leaves a son, James Wallace Watson, and a daughter, Kayla Rose Watson, both of Searsport; his mother, Doreen, of Gray; a fiancee, Susan Sibley, of Brownville Junction; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. His father, Wallace, predeceased him.
A funeral was held February 6 at Bible Believing Baptist Church, Gray, with Rev. Darwin Vail officiating. Interment will be in the Spring in the Riverside Cemetery in Farmington.
Donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association Thompson and Xander Thompson.
A memorial service was held at the North Yarmouth Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Town Farm Road, North Yarmouth.
Arrangements were by Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.
Scott Douglas Berry

Scott Douglas Berry, 38, of 76 Center Road, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 14, 2004, at his residence.
He was born in Portland, the son of Robert and Mary Lockard Berry.
Scott was predeceased by his father, Robert Berry, in 1999. He is survived by his daughter, Sierra Edwards, of Lewiston, his mother, Mary Berry, of Gray, three brothers, Bruce Berry, of New Gloucester, Michael Berry, of Sabattus, Dennis Berry, of Gray, four sisters, Glenice Prosser of Gray, Jane Sherrer of Maine. Among the many houses he built are two Waltmans, one each in Om Island and York Beach, a colonial in Gray for his sister and brother-in-law, a log cabin in Hudson for another brother-in-law, as well as the remodeling of his parents' house in Gray.
A hallmark of his character was Scott's ability to make people laugh through his storytelling and a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially gardening. For several years he had been growing giant pumpkins. The largest pumpkin weighed in at 603 pounds at the Cumberland County Fair.
The high point of his life was the discovery of his daughter two years ago. He loved and was so proud of Sierra, 12 years old, and often proclaimed that she was "the most beautiful girl in the world." Despite his accomplishments, including numerous stunning homes, in Scott's opinion Sierra was his masterpiece; she gave meaning and purpose to the last years of his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a college trust fund set up in his daughter's name to Sierra Edwards c/o Shirley Dempsey, 16 Laurel Pines Dr., Gorham, ME 04038.
Visiting hours were on Thursday, March 18, from 3 to 4 P.M., followed by a service at 4 P.M.. Both were at Bible Believing Baptist Church on Center Rd. in Gray. Pastor Darwin Vail will officiate. Arrangements under the care of Wilson Funeral Home, Gray.
Ruth Burdick

Ruth Breaden Burdick, 92, a resident of Gray and Seaside Nursing Home, died February 29, at the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad as a secretary in the Providence and Boston offices before her marriage to Orrin R. Burdick in 1944.
Ruth and Orrin worked together as caretakers and managers for estates in Randolph, VT, and York Harbor for over twenty years before retiring and moving to Gray.
Mrs. Burdick's husband died in 1998.
She was a former member of the Gray Senior Citizens and Friends of the Gray Public Library. Ruth enjoyed knitting, gardening, crossword puzzles, trips to the coast and yard sales.
She will be fondly remembered by her friends, neighbors and the staff at Seaside Nursing Home for her independent spirit and sense of humor.
She is survived by one son, Douglas, of Gray.

Lila Irene Tufts

Lila Tufts was born to Bertha and Charles Strout on March 3, 1923, in Gray. She attended schools here. She met her best friend, Wilbur D. Tufts, and married him November 2, 1940.
And she died at Stone Richards, both of New Gloucester; one sister, Velma Smith, of Oxford; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews, most of whom reside in Maine, a son of Edwin "Bud" and Marvel Washburn. He attended South Portland High School, then Plus-Gray's School of Business and New England College. He also served four years in the Coast Guard on the ice breaker, the Mackinaw in Sheboygan, MI, and on the weather station cutter, the Cook Inlet, based in Portland.
George had most recently worked for Millbrook Distribution, Leicester, MA, for 5years, until he was diagnosed with leukemia. In the year 2000, he achieved the Service Excellence Award for Outstanding Job Performance. He had previously worked for York County Biscuit Company for 20 years and attained Salesman of the Year for 1980. He made many friends during these years with the people who worked for Shaw's Supermarkets. Their kind words and cards continued to encourage him during his illness.
He loved nature, traveling the unbeaten path to go fly fishing, his passion. He instilled the adventure of camping and hiking in his sons. George loved Maine Medical Center and the Maine Leukemia Foundation, Wilson Pond Road, North Monmouth, Maine 04265.
