Robert Clark, former Councilor, passes away

Another of Gray's outstanding citizens has passed away.
Robert Clark, an active and well-loved member of the Gray community, died last Saturday at the age of 82.
Clark had been a member of the Gray Town Council, the Gray School Board, the M.S.A.D. 15 Board of Directors and Gray Water District. He had also been an Election Warden and a member of the Greater Portland Council of Governments.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Barton Clark, of Gray; a son, James R. Clark, of New Gloucester; two daughters, Joan R. Fickett, of Gorham, Judith A. Hochstetler, of Groveland, MA; and three grandchildren, Brent Clark, Laurie Hochstetler and Andrew Hochstetler. A grandson, Adam Clark, died in 1988, and his sister, Ethel Bagley, died in 1992.
Arthur L. Cammett

Arthur Leslie Cammett, 87, went with the Lord in the arms of his loving wife Sunday morning, June 20, 1999.
He was born Dec. 8, 1911, in South Hampton, N.H. He traveled throughout the United States talking and teaching. He also was employed by Coleman Research of Brunswick and by the former DeCoster Egg Farms of Turner for 20 years.
At one time, he had a quarter of a million birds to supervise for health, sanitation and productivity. He arranged the first Broiler Festival in Brunswick.
He was married 33 years to Ruth Morrill of Amesbury, Mass. She died May 19, 1973. Later he married Eleanor Gammon Timberlake of Canton. He had resided in Gray since May 1975.
He was a member of First Congregational Church of Gray.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years; children Eugene and Joanne Cammett, Aliso Vijo, Pennsylvania, and Leonie Belleville, of Jay, Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Lewiston, the daughter of Lucein R. and Bernadette Dupruis Gilbert, and graduated Lewiston High School in 1963.
She married Bruce Martell in 1964; they celebrated their 35th anniversary on July 4, 1999. Mrs. Martell loved floral designing and working at the Ladyslipper Flower Shop, traveling, her swimming pool, her camp in Millinocket, and she worshipped her grandchildren. She was active and loved by her communities of Gray and Millinocket. She was a loving wife and precious mother.
She is held in the hearts of her survivors: her husband of 35 years, Bruce Martell, of Gray; three sons, Peter and William both of New Gloucester; Paul, of Gray; a daughter, Mary Jane of Falmouth; two sisters, Carmen Clifford, of Lewiston, and Pauline Iannotti, of Auburn; two loving daughters-in-law; and four grandchildren.
A memorial mass was held at St. Gregory's Parish in Gray. Father Rene Lavoie was the Celebrant.

Hazel Louise Nash

Hazel Louise Nash has passed away at her residence.
Born in Bancroft, Massachusetts General Hospital Cadet Nurse Corps program during World War II, and worked at that hospital and the Eastern Florida for thirteen years, having lived in Gray the rest of her life. She married Charles F. Kuch in 1948. Mrs. Kuch was a member of the First Congregational Church of Gray.
Her husband died in 1958.
Surviving are longtime companion, Donald Curtis, of Gray; four nieces, Patricia Barter, of Gray, Diane Tarr, of Atlanta, Georgia, Constance Hall, of Gray, and Jean Webb, of New Gloucester; a nephew, Lawrence L. Libby of Mt. Vernon, WA; and three step-granddaughters; Carol West, Cathy Grannell, and Lori Skilling all of Gray.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 17, at the First Congregational Church of Gray. Pastor Douglas Hedstrom will officiate. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray.
