ROSELYN McCAFFERTY KING
MACHIAS - Roselyn McCafferty King of Machias, wife of the late Carlton King of Carroll, died in Machias on Jan. 12, 2004 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband Carlton in 1982.
Mrs. King and her husband Carlton lived on the farm in Carroll from the time of their marriage in 1932 until Carlton's death in 1982. Their fifty-year marriage was one of mutual devotion and love of family. For two prior generations, the farm had been a place of large and frequent family gatherings, as well as an open welcome for others. Carlton and Roselyn continued that tradition. She was born in Lee, Washington State Normal School, Gorham State Normal School, and the University of New Jersey, April 29, 1914, the daughter of Edgar and Susan (Hoyar) Rymond. Rosella was a graduate of Morrisville High School, Class of 1932, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisville, Pa. She was a longtime scout leader and a longtime house mother for many of Alex's football boys. In addition to her beloved husband of 66 years, Alex, she is survived by a son, Edgar Lasky and his wife Doris of Levittown, Pa; a daughter, Susan Lamach and her husband, Paul of Orient, a granddaughter, Holly Bernie and her husband, Bill of Yardley, Pa; a grandson, James Lasky, and his wife, Cathy of Levittown, Pa; and two great-grandchildren, Jon and Stacy Lasky of Levittown, Pa. Friends and family may call from 3-6 p.m. Friday at the Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth. Rosella has touched the lives of many people throughout her life, and will be greatly missed.

VIOLET "VI" LEACH
MATTAWAMKEAG - Vi Leach, wife of the late Maurice Leach Sr., died January 27, 2004 at the Colonial Acres Health Care Facility in Lincoln. She was born in Kingman, the daughter of Roy and (Elzena Williams) Moody. She attended schools in Kingman, Mattawamkeag High School, and graduated from Milo High. She also attended Farmington Normal. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Kingman, a member and past president of the former Rebekah Lodge of Kingman, a former member of the Floral Grange, and a member of Hamm-McGinley VFW Auxiliary, Mattawamkeag. She was employed for twenty-seven years at Forster Mfg. Co.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter; LeRoy and Betty Leach of Lakeville, Robert and Carol Leach of Lincoln, Maurice and Peggy Leach of Mattawamkeag, and Eleanor McCarthy of Millinocket; one brother, Bernard Moody of Kingman and a sister-in-law, Dot Moody of Lincoln. She has twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Donald and Roy Moody and Gladys Moore.

There will be no visiting hours or funeral (wishes of the deceased.) There will be a graveside service at a later date in the Kingman Cemetery. Those who wish may donate in her memory to Maine in 1999. She was a communicant of St. Leo Catholic Church in Howland. She is survived by two sons, J. Reginald and his wife Donna of Port Ludlow, WA and Lincoln, ME and Richard, Jr. and his wife Judy of East Millinocket, ME and South Lake Wales, FL; a daughter, Nancy Levasseur Mercer of Naples, FL and Madison, ME; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of forty years, Richard F. LeVasseur, who died in 1969 she was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Lomatoski Pomarico; a sister, Mary Gonya Fleming and four brothers, Joseph, Peter, John and James Haverlock.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at St Leo Catholic Church, Howland, with the Rev. Andre Houle presiding. Interment will be in West Enfield Cemetery. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln.

LOUIS LEVEILLE
WEST ENFIELD & PASSADUMKEAG - Louis Leveille, 90, husband of the late Julia (Rapczinski) Leveille, died Aug. 9, 2003, at South Carolina, Scott Young and his wife Andrea of Howland, and Jennie Leveille of Somerville, Mass; a great-grandson, Erik Young; two brothers, and their wives, Blaine and Rebecca Leveille of West Enfield and Wayne and Noreen Leveille of Howland; a sister, Lillian Ewing and her husband, Thomas of Zephyrhills, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. He also leaves the children of his longtime companion, the late Eva Lawrence; Gloria Faloon and Glendon, Elizabeth Hoxie and George, Charyl Gonzalez and Reggie, California. While in Maine and resided in Springfield where they owned and operated an antique shop until their retirement. Jerry did excellent work at restoring and refinishing antique furniture and repairing antique clocks. He and his wife Joyce used to enjoy going for rides in their antique cars.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary York of Bangor; a granddaughter, Mandy Farrington and her husband Paul, of Springfield; a grandson, Justin York of Lewiston; four great-grandchildren, Marrinna, John W., and Makayla, of Springfield, and Eden of Lewiston; a brother, George Lindsay and his wife Charlotte of Bangor; two sisters, Charlotte and her husband, Shirley Ireland of New York; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Leona and Jerry Crocker of Lee, Virginia and William Walker of Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.

ALBERT E. MARTEL, JR.
LINCOLN - Albert E. Martel, Jr. (MSGT/Ret.), 84, passed away on December 23, 2003, at a Lincoln Hospital, after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born, October 1, 1919 in Lynn, MA to Albert E. Martel Sr. and Sarah E. Carr (Martel). Albert was in the USAF for over 25 years. He flew combat bombing missions over Europe during WWII as a radio operator-gunner. He survived a crash on the southern coast of England. In 1955 he was assigned to the 341st Refueling Squadron at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor, Maine as manager. In 1975 he and his first wife, Virginia, moved to Maine. While still in the service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three clusters, ETO medal with two battle stars, Good Conduct Medal with 5 bars and several campaign medals. He was a Life Member of the American Legion and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Life Member of the 303rd Bomb Group Association. He was Past President and Vice President of the Air Force Sgt's Association. Al worked at many careers, one of which was as a station agent. This was in his younger years and he did everything from being the telegrapher, to swinging the lantern for the train engineer to stop, to switching the tracks. In Portland, Maine Truck Owner Association, Member of the Delta Nu Alpha Fraternity. In 1982, he became a volunteer at EMMC for a total of 17 years. He had a total of almost 20,000 hrs. On moving to Lincoln, Pennsylvania and Thomas of Florida and a daughter, Loretta Logan and her husband Richard Bissell of Bangor, grandson Benjamin Logan and wife Jenifer and great-granddaughter Anyssa Jo of Gardiner, California. He was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia, after 57 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by a brother, James Martel. He leaves behind, many nieces, nephews, two sisters in law and many, many friends.

Al was an avid gardener, exercise buff, harmonica player, wonderful dancer and in his later years he took up golf and painting. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Gayle, especially going on cruises. Al was easy going and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed people of all races and from all walks of life and was well thought of by all who knew him. He will be sorely missed.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Spring interment, with full military honors, will be in Maine Division, or Ronald McDonald House of N.H., Buster Putnam and his wife Patty of Medway, Doug McLeod and his wife Jeanne of East Winn and Albert McLeod and his wife Sherry of Wesley; five sisters, Naida Brown and her husband Norm of Mattawamkeag, Sharon Powers and her husband Robert of East Millinocket, Cheryl Smith and her husband Gerry of Burlington, Mary McLeod of Winn and Lycia Savage and her husband Victor of Enfield; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2003 at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2003 at the Mattawamkeag Church of God with the Rev. Mark York officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Youth Building Fund at the Mattawamkeag Church of God.

DEAN E. MAYNARD
HOWLAND - Dean E. Maynard, 67, died peacefully, Oct. 21, 2003, at the home of his sister in Howland. He was born in Lincoln, Feb. 3, 1936, the son of Harvey and Florence ( Currier) Maynard. He lived in Old Town most of his life, where he worked at Striar's for many years. He also worked for Ireland's Rubbish for a while.
He is survived by one, brother, Calvin Maynard of Lincoln, two sisters, Sandra Merrill of Howland and Francena Gagliardi of Naples, Florida, and Brian McCafferty and his wife Holly of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Dale Wotton and his wife, Denise, Danielle and Tristan McCafferty and Chelsea and Jordan McCafferty; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Wotton, two sisters, Sheila Burke See and her husband, William of Palmyra and Natalie Griffin of New Mexico; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

"To My Friends and Relatives: Whatever the circumstances of my death may be, I ask that my family be spared the arrangements of my funeral; That my friends and family do not take this as an insult to the traditional tokens of condolence but as a desire to return to the peace of family life which I have always loved above everything else. That especially those that know prayer, will try to find it. That all those who I may have injured by violence, indifference or weakness, will so grant me their forgiveness. That they will ask of God to grant me His."

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 17, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the family home on the Narrows. Those who wish may donate in her memory to The Shriners Childrens Orthopedic Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield MA 01104 or the Shriners Burn Institute, 51 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114. SARAH ELIZABETH McLAIN
SPRINGFIELD - Sarah Elizabeth McLain, 14, died July 20, 2003, at a Fredericton, New Brunswick hospital, after being struck by lightening. Born in Lincoln, January 29, 1989, she was the daughter of Catherine Isabel (Edwards) Doane and Donald Edward McLain. Sarah was a student at Mt. Jefferson Junior High School in Lee, where she was a highest honors student, was in the band and excelled in sports. She played soccer and basketball, had many friends and was very active in school activities. She loved her many friends and was always happy.
She is survived by her parents, Catherine and Steve Doane of Springfield, and Donald and Lydia McLain of Dixmont; a sister Crystal McLain, a brother, Donald McLain and five step-brothers, Kent, Brett and Grant Doane, all of Springfield, Zachary and Thomas; grandparents, George L. and Brenda Edwards of Lincoln, Elaine Cannell of Portland, Christine McLain of Dixmont and Linda and Ron Doane of Springfield; great-grandmothers, Marion Elizabeth Edwards of Lincoln and Leah Perry of Buxton; aunts and uncles, Laurel and Carl Brady of South Portland, Leah and David Gelhar of Durham, Melody Lister of Dixmont, Wanda Erskine of Plymouth, Galen Hopkins of Dixmont, Buster Hopkins of Brooks, Pam and Alan Tash of Chester, Conan Nadeau of Milbridge, Autumn Edwards and George Edwards, both of Lincoln, Terri Hichborn and Winona Hichborn, both of Portland.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bruce Swan and the Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Springfield Village Cemetery. Those who wish may donate to a scholarship in her memory at Lee Academy. Donations may be left at the funeral home.

MARIAN YVONNE Mc LAUGHLIN
MILLINOCKET and MEDWAY - Marian Yvonne McLaughlin, 63, went home to be with her Lord, Aug 22, 2003, at a Bangor hospital, after a short illness. She was born in Medway, April 12, 1940, the daughter of the late Clarence and Doreen (Powers) McLaughlin.
Marian graduated from Schenck High School in 1959. She was a member of Medway Alumni and was president of Medway Senior Citizens. She worked at Millinocket Regional Hospital for many years. Her favorite hobby was cooking and her family will miss the biscuits and spaghetti sauce she always handed out. Marian spent many hours with her sisters, friends and a special friend, "Starburst" playing cards and games. She also enjoyed crafts and floral arrangements. She leaves behind a daughter, Robin Reneé Poirier and her fiancé, Sam Morrison of Mattawamkeag; a grandson, Christopher Adam Poirier of Mattawamkeag and Husson College; four sisters, Cynthia Murray, Paulette "Skip" Lyons and her husband, Bob, Lillian Stanley and her husband, Tommy, and Katie Cole and her husband, Timmy; a brother, Clarence "Buddy" McLaughlin and his wife, Maryetta, all of Medway; thirteen nieces and nephews; many great nieces and great nephews; several aunts and uncles.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday at Tri-Town Baptist Church, East Millinocket. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with Pastor Dave Chicoine officiating. Interment will be in Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway. There will be a barbeque at the home of Bob & Skip Lyons after the committal service. In lieu of flowers, donations to help with expenses may be sent to the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.

HENRY E. MILLER
WINN - Henry E. Miller, 75, died suddenly Dec. 5, 2003, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born in Winn, April 26, 1928, the son of Henry and Ida (Seams) Miller. Henry was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 143rd Tank Battalion, from 1950 to 1952 . While serving in Germany he met his future wife, Josefine. They celebrated their 50 years of marriage in February 2003. Henry worked as a crane operator for Callaghan's for many years. He later worked for H.C. Haynes and Richard Peters in their woods operations before retiring from his own business, Miller's Industrial Knives. Henry and Jo enjoyed traveling in New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews and friends; brother-in-law, Josef Grill, sister-in-law, Auguste Dietz, and many relatives and friends in Germany who loved him.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating. Interment will be in Potter Brook Cemetery.

LORRAINE E. MITCHELL
HOWLAND - Lorraine E. Mitchell, 72, "The Road Runner,"wife of the late Maynard Mitchell, died July 21, 2003, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born in Danforth, Aug. 11, 1930, the daughter of Lewis and Blanche (Coffin) Osgood. Lorraine had worked as a waitress at the Bon Ton, had worked at Dick's Bakery and had been a cashier at Sampson's Supermarket, all in Lincoln.
She is survived by three children, Robert A. McMahan, Janice B. (McMahan) Abely, and David E. McMahan, all of Bangor; four grandchildren, William Enochs of Enfield, Linda Arnold of Lincoln, Michael McMahan of Auburn and Bettina Smith of Carmel, six great-grandchildren, Bradley and Tyler Arnold, Devin and Whitney McMahan and Megan and Katrina Smith; a sister, Evelyn (Osgood) Fortin of Bath; two brothers, Jason Crone of Danforth and Harry "David" Crone of Pittston In addition to her husband, Maynard, she was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, Otis Davis, Muriel (Davis) Lindsay, Charlotte (Osgood) Butterfield, Norma Osgood, Malcolm Osgood and Myron Osgood.

Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lincoln Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating.

ARGIE M. MOORES
LINCOLN-Argie M. Moores, 97, wife of the late Lawrence W. Moores, died December 5, 2003 at a Lincoln hospital. She was born in Carroll, August 5, 1906 the only daughter of Frederick and Adelaide (McLaughlin) Chubbuck. Argie received her education in Carroll, Lee Normal Academy and the University of Maine. Argie was chosen by the Assembly and her lodge to receive the Degree of Chivalry. Argie was past president of Laura Plumly Past Noble Grands Association. A past matron of Lincoln Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Orion Club O.E.S., past member and secretary of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Lincoln. Argie also served as election clerk for the town of Lincoln for 25 years. Argie was also a member of Penobscot Valley Hospital Auxiliary since it was organized, serving on the Executive Board and had over 500 hours working in the gift shop.
Argie is survived by a son, Walter Moores and his wife Grace; a daughter, Beulah Robinson and her husband John of Florida; eight grandchildren, Wesley Robinson, Judith Greco, Donna Wells, Thomas Robinson, Becky Moores, Walter Moores, Jr., Lawrence Moores III and Linda Williams; several great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

CARROLL J. MONROE
LINCOLN - Carroll J. Monroe, 69, beloved husband of Bernice (King) Monroe, passed away Nov. 29, 2003, at a Lincoln hospital after a long illness. He was born Aug. 17, 1934, in North Conway, Maine at an early age. Carroll worked for the Bangor Hydro for 36 years. He loved fishing and hunting and belonged to the Lincoln Fish and Game Club. In addition to his beloved wife of 46 years, Bernice. he leaves two sons, Malcolm and Brian and a daughter and special son-in-law, Shari and Scott Sawyer; special nieces, Rhonda Monroe, Brenda Burgess and her husband Jeff, Dale-Ann and Darla; two very special great nieces, Justina and Shelby; nephew, Stuart; brothers, Kenneth, Bob and his wife Helen, Donald, and Herbert and his wife Evelyn; and good friends, Ronnie and Clara Gray. He was predeceased by a special friend and fishing buddy, Carroll Jones. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 and from 12 noon to 1 p.m Tuesday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.

WILFRED COLEMAN MULLIGAN
LINCOLN -With family at his side, Wilfred Coleman Mulligan went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2003 in Aiken, Maine, on January 4, 1930 and was the son of George and Margaret (Spooner) Mulligan. For most of his life he resided in Lincoln. As an employee for the town of Lincoln, in his younger years, he served as a volunteer firefighter and a part-time police officer. Soon after he began his career for Lincoln Pulp and Paper where he worked for 38 years until his retirement in 1995. Coleman enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching birds; among his favorites were cardinals, orioles, blue jays, and mourning doves. He also enjoyed early morning walks to McDonald's with his friends and often he would stop by Tibbetts Fuel to bring Esther Ring a coffee. Afterwards, he stopped by Mill Street Diner to chat with Junior and Gwen Ireland and all the gang. He would then proceed to Aubuchon's Hardware to talk with a dear friend, Ed Comeau. His final stop, Cole-Whitney Ford, where he would spend time with his special daughter-in-law, Donna Bard. He was a loving husband, "Dad", and "Papa". He also loved his special friends Ernest and Gwen Ireland along with Midge and Myrna McConnell, Paul Dastous, and Harold Woodard.
He is survived by a daughter, Edith and her husband Paul Taylor of Aiken, South Carolina; a son, Terry and his wife Joan of Enfield; a daughter, Cindy and her husband Kevin Drost; a son, Paul and his wife Sandy; and a special daughter-in-law, Donna Bard, all of Lincoln; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 1 sister Irene Gifford. He was predeceased by his wife, of 54 years, Beatrice "Bea" Mulligan; a son, Mark A. Mulligan; and 9 brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Community Evangel Temple, Access Road, Lincoln with Reverend Tim Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at the Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to the Mark A. Mulligan Scholarship Fund. Donations may be left at the funeral home. Following burial service, friends and family are invited to a gathering and luncheon in his memory at Community.
