ELAINE C. WEST
ENFIELD - Elaine C. West, 61, wife of Walter West, died Oct. 2, 2003, at a Lincoln healthcare facility. She was born in Carroll, Sept. 5, 1942, the daughter of Clayton and Olive (Young) McLaughlin. Elaine was known to the children in the neighborhood as the "gum lady" because she was always passing out gum. She loved children, did a lot of babysitting, and was so looking forward to the birth of her only grandchild. Every month, she did volunteer work at Beano at Colonial Acres Nursing Home. In addition to her husband, Walter, she is survived by a son, Joseph Solomon and his wife, Jennifer and their unborn child, of Passadumkeag; a brother, Myron McLaughlin of Brewer; three sisters, Shelda Milner of Lincoln Center, Linda Batchelder of Enfield and Marilyn Theriault of New York; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his extended family and friends at Harmony Nursing Home, where he had lived for the past 30 years. In addition to his mom and dad, he was predeceased by a brother, David Wheeler; and a half sister, Paula Neal. The family wishes to thank the caregivers for all the years of dedicated care that had been provided for our brother. Robbie, we will always love you and miss you, but will see you again when God calls us home.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Graveside services will be held in the spring at New Macwahoc Cemetery.
EDWARD E. WHITE, SR.
CARROLL - Edward E. White, Sr., 79, died peacefully at a Lincoln hospital, after a long illness, on Nov. 2, 2003. He was born in Boston, Mass., July 27, 1924, the son of Edward and Bridie (Connors) White. He was a member of the U S Navy from Jan. 29, 1943 to Aug. 15, 1946. While protecting his country during World War II, he served aboard the USS AJAX, USS ARAPAHO, and USS LST 903. He received a World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal (3 stars.)
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Annie May (McLaughlin) White, he is survived by seven children, Edward, Jr. and Imelda of Springfield, Mass; Robert, John and Wanda, Linda and John Krapf, all of Springfield, Georgia; two daughters-in-law, Tina Whitney and Carolyn Whitney Clifford, both of Lincoln; a special granddaughter, Diane Wotton of Lincoln; 10 other grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Alton, she was predeceased by a son, Charles Alden Whitney, a daughter, Lena Mae Hatch, a granddaughter, Irene Sawyer, and a great-grandson, Jeremy Chase.
At her request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Burlington, with the Rev. Wayne Perry officiating. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
MILDRED BLANCHE WORSTER
BELFAST AND PRENTISS - Mildred Blanche Worster, 83, wife of the late William E. Worster, went home to be with the Lord, July 16, 2003, at home in Belfast, with her daughter, Cindee, and her dog, Bert, at her side. She was born in Prentiss, Aug. 21, 1919, the daughter of Asa and Bessie Ora (McAlpine) Jipson. Blanche loved to play Scrabble and she thoroughly enjoyed her family and her camp at Madagascal Lake.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Dwight Worster and Marilyn of Northfield, NH and Douglas Worster and Suzanne of Pensacola, New Hampshire; a sister-in-law, Angie Jipson of Auburn; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Laverne Carll. She also leaves a special neighbor, Jenny Rediker. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Christine, two grandsons, David Bartlett and Mitchell Worster, two brothers, Lawrence and Calvin Jipson and two sisters, Laura Ogden and Ethel Dill.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Prentiss Church of God, with the Rev. W. E. Flynn and the Rev. Rick Libby officiating. Interment will be in Butterfield Cemetery, Prentiss. There will be a reception at the church, after the committal service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Prentiss Church of God.
CHARLES R. YORK, JR.
MATTAWAMKEAG - Charles R. York, Jr., 47, husband of Deborah (Fiske) York, died Nov. 12, 2003, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born in Portland, Sept. 24, 1956, the son of Dorothy Eva (Holt) York and Charles Rupert York, Sr.
Charles was a Veteran of the U S Army. He enjoyed hunting and driving cars and he dearly loved his wife, Debbie. In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by three sons, Charles, III of Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born in Howland, Oct. 12, 1930, the son of John G. and Ruth E. (Nason) York. Raymond was U S Navy Veteran. He was a member of Composite Lodge # 168 AF & AM of Lagrange.
Raymond loved the simple pleasures of life, the outdoors, taking walks along the river, boating and fishing. He loved music and loved to dance. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rae Marie and Thomas Armour of Warren VT a granddaughter, Dani-Jo; two sisters, Marlene York and Beverly Ireland, both of Howland; several nieces and nephews. He also leaves very special friends, Kathy McKinnon and Reg Sage. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Jackie and Bobby and a sister, Marilyn Juliano.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where masonic memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the West Enfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
DONALD S. YORK
LINCOLN- Donald S. York, 87, husband of the late Dorothy (Smith) York, died September 4, 2003 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Medway, May 1,1916 the son of Austin and Josephine (Jones) York. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving with 88th Division in Italy and received the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the D.A.V.. He worked at Great Northern Paper in East Millinocket for 13 years but his real love was working in the woods as a logger. He will always be remembered for his biscuit making, story telling, poker playing, and his friend "Bob Barker".
He is survived by two daughters, Beverly Doucette of Turner and Elizabeth Engstrom and her husband Leroy of Hermon; one son, Stephen Libby of Lincoln; one foster son, Andrew Bisson of Lincoln; two sisters, Mazie York of East Millinocket and Jennie Florida. She was born in Lincoln Ctr., July 8, 1905, the daughter of George and Sadie (Haynes) Griffin. Nellie was a member of the Lincoln Center Baptist Church. She enjoyed writing letters and keeping in touch with her many friends.
She is survived by four daughters, Jeanette Perry and her husband, Erwin of Lincoln, Joyce Ball (with whom she made her home for the past four years) of Lake Worth, Florida; grandchildren, Brenda Nickerson and her husband, Ted of Merrimack, N. H., Joy Lee Clark and her husband, Stanley of Nashua, N. H., Susan Munroe and her husband, Scott of Lake Worth, Vickie Hale of Deltona, Florida; two sisters, Kathleen Kendrick of Hollis and Virginia Anderson of Limington. He will also be missed by his co-workers at Four Points by Sheraton in Bangor, where he enjoyed working. Dale will be sadly missed and was greatly loved by everyone.
A memorial service will be held in Danforth in May. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
ROLAND ARBO
MATTAWAMKEAG-Roland Arbo, 58, went home to be with the Lord, April 18, 2004, at his home, after a long illness. He was born in Millinocket, October 28, 1945 the son of Francis and Angie (Pelkey) Arbo. Roland was well known for his welding and was self employed. He served his community for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Labrecque) Arbo of Mattawamkeag; one son Shane Arbo of Bangor; two daughters, Sheila Lachance of West Enfield and Darcie Twist of Mattawamkeag; two sisters, Barbara Yeo of Stockton Springs and Shirley Murray of Mattawamkeag; five grandchildren, Breighane, Frankie, Hailee, Jaicie and Brayden; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Terry Arbo.

PAUL A. ARNOLD
MATTAWAMKEAG - Paul A. Arnold, 91, beloved husband of Deloris (Florida; eight grandchildren, Gilbert Arnold, Jay Arnold, Darcy Arnold, Jana Card, Alison Butler, Althea Davis, Shawna Moore and Anthony Moore; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Pat (Edith) Arnold, two sons, Paul, Jr. and Gilbert I. and a daughter, Nina Ann.
Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee, Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Craig officiating. Interment will be in Mattawamkeag Cemetery, later in the spring.
SCOTT ALVIN BATES
Enfield - Scott Alvin Bates, 22, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Dec, 21, 2003 at a Lincoln hospital. He was born in Lincoln, Nov. 26, 1981, the son of Peters Bates, Sr. and Donna (Pelkey) Bates of Enfield. Scott was a graduate of Penobscot Valley High School in Howland, where he was an active basketball player throughout his school years. Scott proudly scored his 1000 points in basketball, Feb. 1, 2001. He was #55. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and sports. Scott was attending the University of Pennsylvania, the daughter of Enos Brecker Brechill and Mary Anna (Beltz) Brechill. Esther was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She and Ralph enjoyed going camping, and they made several trips to Florida and Robert Gagnon of Ohio; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

HAROLD K. BERRY
GREENBUSH - Harold K. Berry, 81, husband of Geraldine (White) Berry, died June 9, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Burlington, the son of Orick and Hazel (Shorey) Berry. Harold was a U S Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW Post #1605 of Burlington.
In addition to his wife Geraldine, he is survived by five children, Gloria Mann of Green bush, Donna Moody of Exeter, Ethel Murray of St. Albans, David Berry of Dexter and Benjamin Berry of Lowell; a brother, Ralph Berry of Lincoln; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Members of VFW Post #1605 of Burlington will conduct military funeral services, at 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Interment will be in Howland Cemetery.
ROBERTA LOUISE BIRMINGHAM
LINCOLN - Roberta Louise Birmingham, 61, wife of Larry Birmingham, died July 4, 2004, at a Bangor hospital, as the result of a motorcycle accident. She was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Lester and Katherine (Barnes) Kennedy. Roberta loved her work as a CNA and loved being with her grandchildren. She loved riding a motorcycle with her husband.
Besides her mother and her husband, she is survived by her children, Larry Birmingham of Pensacola, Maine." He spent countless hours talking to fellow motorcyclists about everything. Always excited to help others, he was a participant of the great UBM Toy Run the past couple years. He would talk about it for months before the event and made sure his friends and family would be able to share in the event. Jon also contributed to the community by grilling for the Lincoln Firefighters and many other great things. These activities making him an honorary firefighter for life. Always smiling no matter what he was doing, whether it be cooking for friends on his grill or moving mobile homes, you knew he loved life and loved what life had given him. Although Jon's life was cut short due to his hard fought battle with cancer, he fought back by living his life to the fullest and sharing it with those he loved. He will be sadly missed by those he loved and whom loved him.
He is survived by his wife Donna, his wife and best friend of 22 years. His son Adam and daughter Ashleigh. His mother inlaw Therese Vaillancourt. His 5 brothers Brian and (Paula), Jeff and (Callie), Brent and (Jane), Mark and (Verna), Kirk and (Mary). Jon also leaves behind parents Ken and Jean Boyington. As well as many special friends, family, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He always said "everyone deserved to wake up with a smile." His memory will always make us smile.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Myles Cyr presiding. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
DOROTHY M. BURLEIGH
EAST MILLINOCKET - Dorothy M. Burleigh, 80, wife of the late George E. Burleigh, died July 15, 2004, at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born in Biddeford, Jan. 20, 1924, the daughter of Ralph and Lula (Pugsley) Georges.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, John Page and his wife, Belle, of Medway; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
ROGER WILLIAM CARLOW, JR.
LINCOLN - Today, God took our son after a very hard illness. Roger William Carlow, Jr., 43, died July 4, 2004, at his home. He was born April 17, 1961, in Lincoln, the son of Barbara (Clausson) and Roger W. Carlow, Sr. For many years, Roger worked as a carpenter for Local Union #1996. He retired from work after becoming ill with cancer. He fought a valiant battle, but God must have needed him sooner than we wanted to let him go. We will miss you, Rog, and think of you often.
In addition to his parents, Roger is survived by his pride and joy, a daughter, Meaghan Ellen Carlow and a much loved son, Heath DeLaite; two children whom he loved dearly, Nick and Nastassja Francis; two sisters, Debbie Martin of Florida; a brother, David Carlow of Mattawamkeag. Rog will be greatly missed by the special friends who loved him, Blaine Weatherbee, Jason Morrison, Jeannie Grant, and Lisa (Goding) and Jim Anderson. Others important to him from the animal kingdom were his lab, Casey and his cat, Monkey Boy.
