MARGARET E. LEAVITT
PASSADUMKEAG - Margaret E. Leavitt died on March 14, 2004 at the Cummings Health Care Center in Howland, where she had resided for the past 4 months. Margaret was born Jan. 17, 1913 in Chester to Chester and Virginia (Lancaster) Clukey. A graduate of Winn High School, she married Clifton B. Leavitt in Lincoln on July 3, 1937. Margaret worked at the J. J. Newberry Co. store in Lincoln for many years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Passadumkeag Baptist Church and a Lifetime Member of the Passadumkeag Grange # 586. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Estella and Jon Whitten, Sr. of Clinton, granddaughters Jennifer and husband Kenny Morrell of Sebago Lake, Julia and husband Daniel Frost of Windham, and a grandson Jon H. Whitten, Jr. of Westbrook. She has seven great grandchildren: Kenneth, Ryan, Amanda, Katelyn and Nicole Morrell and Jacob and Rachel Frost and a great-great grandson Kolby Morrell. Also there are nieces Sherillee and husband Philip Baker of Winterport; and Jomelinda McLellan of Manchester, NH and a nephew Donald Clukey and his wife Marie of Truckee, CA, plus several dear cousins. Her husband Clifton, sister Louise Smith and brothers Joseph and Grover Clukey predeceased her.
Visiting hours will be at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln from 12:30 TO 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, followed immediately by a memorial service. Burial will be in the Gould's Ridge Cemetery, Passadumkeag. ETHEL A. LEZBERG
LINCOLN - Ethel A. Lezberg, 91, wife of the late Joseph Lezberg, died May 22, 2004, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born July 9, 1912, in Lincoln, the daughter of William J. and Ethel (White) Banks. Ethel gradusted from Mattanawcook Academy and Gorham Normal School. She worked at various places as a bookkeeper right up until the time she reached age 85. She was a member of the Lincoln Congregational Church, the Pilgrim Daughters and the Chit Chat Club.
She is survived by a son, David Lezberg, M. D., and his wife, Janet of Needham, Arizona, Donald Lindquist of El Monte, Gardner McIver, 76, passed away after a long struggle with heart problems, on June 23, 2004, at his home in Calais. He was a long time resident of Vanceboro until ailing health forced him to move.
He was born, Nov. 15, 1927, in Vanceboro, the son of the late Austin and Gladys (Grass) McIver. Phil served in the U S Army in Korea during World War II. He was a Brakeman for the North Dakota and Douglas Jimmo and Carrie of Florida, and Meghan and Adam, both of Georgia and Jackie Francois; a nephew, Herbert D. and Polly Pedrick.
In addition to her husband, Phillip, she was predeceased by a brother, Herbert and a sister Alta. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Visiting hours will also be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, Hamden, Conn.
PHILLIP MERLETTI
LEE - Phillip Merletti, 86, husband of Maude H. Merletti, died March 7, 2004, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born July 13, 1917 in New Haven Conn, the son of Ferangelo and Theresa (Cunzo) Merletti. Phillip started as a waterboy for C W Blaisley Construction Company, and was responsible for building roads in New Haven He was one of the founding members of the Brotherhood of Carpenters Union in New Haven.
In addition to his wife, Maude he is survived by a son and his wife, Phillip and Lynn Merletti of Lee; two grandchildren, Keith Jimmo and Ella of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Madison Lynn of North Dakota;two sisters, Anna Falcigno of Hamden Conn and Rita Altomare of New Haven, Conn. He was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.
Services were held in Conn. Local arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
CHARLES G. MICHAUD
LINCOLN - Charles G. Michaud, 69, died May 7, 2004 at a Howland healthcare facility. He was born in Lincoln, September 21, 1934, the son of John & Maine Guide. He married Faye Mitchell in 1945 and moved to Lincoln. He did carpentry work for many years. Later he got his Master Plumber license and was Plumber Inspector for many towns and plantations. He loved building canoes with his brother, Atwood. He built many midget canoes. He loved the old Homestead in Grand Falls where he was born, and the woods, lakes, brooks and streams surrounding it. He was a 50 year Master Mason.
He is survived by four brothers, Irvin and his wife Marguerite of Carmel, Atwood, his brother, friend and care giver of the past few years, of Lincoln, Lawrence of Orono and Roscoe, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Lincoln; one sister, Gertrude Gaudette of Bangor; 15 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by four sisters, Lila Whitten, Annie Emery, Lucille Rich and Grace Moore.
Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2004 at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Spring intermenty will be in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Lincoln Lakes Region Dialysis Center Fund. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
ARTHUR E. NASH, JR.
Winn-Arthur E. Nash, Jr., 62, husband of Marie (Nichols) Nash, died February 21, 2004, surrounded by his family, at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Lincoln, December 4, 1941, the son of Arthur E. Nash, Sr. and Madeline E. (Sibley) Nash. Arthur graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1959. He worked at the New Haven Railroad in Maine, he managed the Connecticut; two step-grandchildren, Kenneth Chasse, Jr. and Jacob Chasse; three sisters, Christine Gary and her husband Frank of Mattawamkeag, Anne Cummings and her husband Clarence of Lincoln and Tamora Burrell of North Yarmouth.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2004 at the Mattawamkeag Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve McNally officiating. CONNIE JO ORT
Millinocket and Springfield- Connie Jo Ort, 47, wife of Kevin Ort, died April 3, 2004, at a Lincoln hospital. Born in Lincoln, June 16, 1956, she was the daughter of Charles C. Munson of Millinocket and Hazel (Fitzgerald) Raymond of Enfield. Connie loved going to the chapel suppers at Springfield Community Chapel. She also enjoyed camping, playing beano and going to the Springfield Fair. Connie's family would like to thank the Springfield Fire Dept., the staff at Penobscot Valley Hospital and their ambulance crew, 911 dispatchers, Dr. Eric Metzler, Kevin Olsen, P.A. and Rev. Ronald Campbell for the care that they all provided.
In addition to her husband Kevin, of Springfield, her father Charles Munson and her mother and step-father Hazel and Lawrence "Smokey Joe" Raymond, she is survived by two sons, Michael Hasenbank, II and Eric Hasenbank both of Millinocket; two daughters, Stephanie Hasenbank of Millinocket and Jennifer Hasenbank of Bangor; two granddaughters, Alexis Joseph and Selina Hasenbank; a grandchild on the way; father-in-law and step-mother-in-law, Kenneth and Lorraine Ort of Springfield; a special cousin, Sharon Downs of Springfield; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by a grandson, Alex Joseph.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Linda Hatch officiating. Interment will be in Cole Cemetery, later in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. JOSEPH H. "BEAU" OUELLETTE
ARGYLE- Joseph H. "Beau" Ouellette, 72, passed away quietly, April 28, 2004 at home, surrounded by his family and his cats. He was born in Orono, January 6, 1932, the son of Elzar and Laura (Chase) Ouellette. Joe served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 75 in Old Town and Post 84 of Orono as well as the Orono Knights of Columbus. He worked as a meat cutter until his retirement. He loved hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with his family and his cats, Miss Lucky, Snowball and Fluffy.
Joe is survived by four sisters, Pricilla Bouchard and her husband Blondie and Lucille Brow and her husband Charlie all of Old Town, Rose Dubay and her husband Adrienne of Milford and Delores Harvey and her husband Bruce of Hampden; a brother, Edward "Jr" Ouellette and his wife Marilyn of Ellsworth; four children, Joseph Ouellette and his wife Laurie of Lagrange, Kimberly Ouellette and her fiance Bill Ferrante of Biddeford, Marie Eddy and her husband Mark of Orono and Ethel Sabol and her husband, Ray of Argyle; grandchildren, Lindsay, Joshua, Chad, Jody, Carrie, Cassandra, Renee and Travis; great grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, Tyler, Caleb, Seth, Katelynn, Tristan and Tyler; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Betty Ann (Clement) Ouellette, two brothers, Roland and Ferdinand "Kiddou" Ouellette and a sister Theresa (Ouellette) Myers. He was also predeceased by a much loved companion of 16 years, Mary Jane Haynes.
There will be a funeral service at 5 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2004 at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln, with the Rev. Normand Richard officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Joe's name to Hospice of Eastern Parker of Stetson; seven grandchildren, Tony Hallett and Jason Hallett and his fiancee, Karen of Atlanta, Parker of Plymouth; John and Amy Woodman of Lincoln; Matthew Woodman and his wife Allison of York and Emily and her husband Paul Adams of Raymond; great-grandson, Max Woodman; a brother, Mark Parker, Sr., of Passadumkeag; brother-in-law, Leland Dudley and his wife Joyce; sister-in-law, Gail Larkin; sister-in-law, Marilyn and her husband, Delmar Fogg; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and his grandparents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Wayne; a son, Michael David Parker; a brother, Bruce F. Parker, and a sister-in-law, Dallas Parker.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gould's Ridge Cemetery, Passadumkeag, with the Rev. Maria Guereca officiating. Friends and family are invited to the Passadumkeag Community Building after the service.
