Mary Ann Barnard
Mary Ann Barnard, 76, of Old Orchard Beach, died April 26 at Southern N.Y., a daughter of William and Thelma “Tes” E. Smith Barnard, graduated from Niagara Falls High School and took courses at the University of New York.
Her parents, a brother, William, and a sister, Betty Lou Barnard, all died previously.
Survivors include her caregiver, Linda Feeney.

Peter Mela
Peter M. Mela, 64, of Old Orchard Beach, died April 29 at his home.
He was born Nov. 30, 1941 in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of Harold G. and Jane E. Hall Mela, was educated in Pittsfield schools, graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1959 and Bentley College in 1964 and received his Master’s Degree in Accounting from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College in 1969.
While living in the Boston area, he was a partner of the Tonneson, Melia, Curtin and Company accounting firm. Upon his return to Maine and Maine Medical Center.
She was born March 24, 1913 in Biddeford, a daughter of Alphonse and Lumina Nichols Sevigny, and was educated locally at St. Andre’s School.
On May 30, 1933, she married Romeo Charette at St. Andre’s Church. He died in 1955.
She worked for nearly 40 years at York Heel in Biddeford and Sanford, retiring in 1976.
A brother, Robert Sevigny, died in 2002, a sister, Germaine Murphy, died in 1991 and a granddaughter, Leeann Charette, died in 1997.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Charette and his wife Jeanne of Biddeford and Roger Charette and his wife Judy of Waterboro; one daughter, Rejeanne St. Ours of Biddeford; one sister, Claire Richard of Biddeford; and nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Burial is in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, 04005.
Madeleine Dubois
Madeleine Marie Dubois, 79, of Biddeford, died April 30 at Seal Rock at Atlantic Heights.
She was born April 6, 1927 in Somersworth, Florida Nadeau Gonthier, and was educated in Somersworth schools.
On Oct. 25, 1947, she married Leonel Dubois at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco.
She was a member of St. Andre’s Church and Spouse of the Holy Spirit Prayer Group.
Three children, Pauline, David and Donna Dubois, died previously.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Leonel Dubois of Biddeford; five daughters, Theresa Tomchak and her husband Robert of Bridgton, Priscille Picard and her husband Andre of Saco, Nancy Quattrone and her husband Robert of Biddeford, Suzanne McCrillis and her husband Robert of Kennebunkport and Rose Marie Morin and her husband Timothy of Biddeford; two sons, Roland Dubois and his wife Cathy of Biddeford and Donald Dubois and his wife Charlene of Kennebunk; two brothers, Martin Gonthier and his wife Jeanne of Biddeford and Marcel Gonthier and his wife Muriel of Palm Beach, Fla.; one sister, Martha Masse and her husband Philip of Biddeford; and 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Burial is in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, 04005. Memorial donations may be made to the Truslow Adult Day Care Center, 333 Lincoln St. Saco, 04072.
Henry Wakefield
Henry O. Wakefield, 68, of Dover-Foxcroft and formerly of Lyman, died April 5 in Cape Fear Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.
He was born Jan. 18, 1938 in Biddeford, a son of John Frank and Lula Belle Taylor Wakefield, and was educated in Biddeford schools.
On Aug. 8, 1958, he married Inge Groh in Offenthal, Germany.
He was a retired Army veteran of the Vietnam War who attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. Following his retirement from 20 years of military service, he worked for S.A.D. 71 as a bus mechanic and later worked as manager of Community Concepts in South Paris until 1998. He and his wife then managed campgrounds throughout the U.S. until 2003.
His parents, a brother John and two sisters, Elizabeth and Dorothy, died previously.
Surviving are his wife, Inge Wakefield of Dover-Foxcroft; four sons, Robert F. Wakefield of Dover-Foxcroft, Raymond G. Wakefield and his wife Michelle of Bryant Pond, Kenneth J. Wakefield and his wife Barbara of Fayetteville, N.C. and David H. Wakefield and his wife Lisa of Springvale; three daughters, Pamela M. Veilleux and her fiancé Marcel of Biddeford, Kristina H. Wakefield of Lewiston and Cynthia Wyman of Calif.; three grandchildren, Nia, Ryan and Miriya; and several nieces and nephews.
Private Services will be held in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
Daniel Howard
Daniel C. Howard, 50, of Old Orchard Beach, died unexpectedly at his home on June 8.
He was born in Johnson City, Maine in 1998.
He was the manager of Mister Bagel in Scarborough at the time of his death.
Survivors include his son, Ryan Howard; his daughter Sara Howard; four sisters, Geralynn Howard, Susan and her husband Robert Dixon, sister Alicia and her husband James Thoennes and Meridith and her husband David Jackson; three nephews, Michael and Matthew Dixon and Christopher Thoennes; and her stepmother, Virginia Howard.
Local arrangements are by the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, 36 Portland Ave., Old Orchard Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association,
