EARL L. "BIDDY" SPRINGER
Wytopitlock- Earl L. "Biddy" Springer, 79, husband of the late Dorothy (Michaud) Springer, died August 11, 2004 at a Lincoln hospital. He was born in Wytopitlock, March 7, 1925, the son of Charles and Tam (Brooks) Springer. Earl served in the U S Navy from 1943-1946. He was a signalman in the Navy and spent a lot of time on the USS Missoula. He worked in the woods in Texas; a sister, Beatrice Husband of Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Melba Gerry of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Floyd Gerry; a sister, Faye Darling and a son-in-law, Carl Andrews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Lincoln Congregational Church, with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
DENNIS M. TERRY
WESTON - Dennis M. Terry, 56, died Oct 7, 2004, at a Boston hospital, after a long illness. He was born June 15, 1948, in Detroit, North Carolina, Peter (Bobbi) Russell of Brookton, Keith (Jeannette) Russell of Florida, Maggie (Philip) Farley of Brookton, and Jakki Lyn Terry of Weston; two brothers, Daren Allen of Kingman, and Gerald (Christine) Allen, Jr., of Danforth; 12 grandchildren, a niece and five nephews.
Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Clay Funeral Home - Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth, where services will be held at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Roger Cyr officiating. Interment will be in Danforth Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family, c/o Clay Funeral Home. Envelopes will be provided.
JOHN EDWARD VAN ALSTYNE, SR.
CARMEL & LINCOLN - John Edward Van Alstyne, Sr., 65, died Oct. 4, 2004, at his residence in Carmel. He was born Dec. 2, 1938, in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Edward and Margaret (Ward ) Van Alstyne. Mr. Van Alstyne worked as a mechanic and was an avid cribbage player.
He is survived by his children, Diana and Charles Mulligan of Carmel, John Van Alstyne, Jr. of Lincoln, Barbara Worster of Kingman, Nettie Ann Ryder of Lincoln, Dusty Van Alstyne of Lincoln, Garrett Van Alstyne of Mastic Beach, NY, Amanda Van Alstyne of Lincoln, Marcus Van Alstyne of Lincoln, Noah Van Alstyne of Byfield, MA; grandchildren, Jeremy Doane and Tara Dill of Carmel, Heidi Doane of Brewer, Laci Van Alstyne, MacKenzie King, and Dominic Van Alstyne, all of Lincoln and Brenden Susanno, Mattawamkeag; great-grandson, Jaydan Oliver of Brewer; brothers and sisters, David and Charlotte Van Alstyne, Edward and Maryann Van Alstyne, Garrett Van Alstyne, Arlene Garcionne, Marjorie Young, Helen Healy, Judy Jenkins all of N.J., and Barbara Florre, of PA., special friends Joshuia Ryder of Jonesport, Randy Burke of Lincoln, Vanessa Long of Mastic Beach, NY and Colleen Getchell of Byfield, MA.; many, many, nieces, nephews, friends and family. He was pre-deceased by his parents, and by a special grand daughter Daisy Cadaan Ryder.

EVELYN J. WALKER
CARROLL PLT., MAINE - Evelyn J. Walker, 87, died Oct. 9, 2004 at a Lincoln, New Jersey, the daughter of Maximillian and Emma (Fell) Silberbauer. Evelyn had been employed by the telephone company and was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers. She was a member of the Springfield (New Jersey, Joan and Edward Lukacik of Carroll Plt., and Sandra and Norman Mansfield of Colorado; five grandchildren, Dawn, Kim, Barbara, Brian and David; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Sean and Brenda; a sister, Althea and her husband Brad Lethbridge of New Jersey; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Springfield Community Chapel, Springfield, Maine Central for the rest of his working years. During World War II he volunteered to join the Army. He served in Germany, Holland, France and Belgium. Service to country kept Bill from being at his mother's side at her passing; something he always regretted. In his youth Bill was active in football, baseball, track and basketball. He began hunting, fishing and trapping with his younger brother John, and carried the love of these sports to many happy adventures with his son Billy. Bill's supper table stories of his past ran from his courtship of Freda, to his and his children's escapades when young, to adventures in the service and on the railway. He spared no embarrassing moment and could recall the names of friends from 75 years earlier with ease. Bill was a staunch fan of the Red Sox and spent hours watching the 2004 Olympics.
This patriarch of the Welch family will be laid to rest beside his beloved Freda in the Veterans' Cemetery in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of choice in his honor. Visiting hours at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road Lincoln, will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lincoln, Tuesday at 10 am with the Rev. Myles Cyr officiating.
RUBY A. WHEELER
Mattawamkeag-Ruby A. Wheeler, 80, died October 8, 2004 at a Lincoln hospital. She was born April 9, 1924, in Macwahoc, the daughter of Oland and Myrtle (Parks) Smith. Ruby enjoyed yard sales, playing bingo and going for rides. She also liked flowers, scratch off tickets, reading and doing puzzles.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Wheeler, Jr. of Houlton, Johnny Wheeler of Macwahoc and Jimmy Wheeler of Enfield; four daughters, Paula Neal of Worcester, Mass, Roberta Coro of Molunkus, Connie Coro of Waite and Teresa MacArthur of Princeton; two sisters, Daisy Lyons and Geraldine Martin both of Lincoln; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, David Wheeler; a brother, Oland "Sonny" Smith; two sisters, Shirley Parks and Christie Kimball.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2004, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Interment will be in New Macwahoc Cemetery.
ALICE M. (THURLOW) WITHEE
BANGOR - Alice M. (Thurlow) Withee, 31, died Oct 28, 2004, at her home. She was born Oct, 14, 1973 in Lincoln, the daughter of Peggy (Wakefield) and Timothy Thurlow, Sr. Alice was a graduate of Dirigo High School in the class of 1991 and attended USM. She worked as a flight attendant until she was taken ill.
She is survived by her father, Timothy Thurlow, Sr. of Oregon; a brother, Timothy Thurlow, Jr. his wife Amy and their son, Tyler of Phoenix, Oregon, and Kellie D. of Norway; step brother and step sister, Eric and Kayla Clark; grandmother, Theresa Kervin of Houlton; lots of aunts, uncles and cousins. She also leaves her cat, Shoshin. She was predeceased by grandparents, Nellie and Lawrence Wakefield.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Howland Baptist Church in Howland, with the Rev. Whitfield Curtis officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 521, Skowhegan, ME 04976. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
ALLAN M. BROWN
Winn - Allan Morris Brown-65, a quiet, gentle man of integrity, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 21, 2004 peacefully at his home, surrounded by friends and family. Youngest son of Max O. and Alpha (Crosby) Brown, he was born November 15, 1939 in Milton, Maine, where Allan worked for Great Northern Paper Company. They moved in 1976 to an old farmhouse in Winn to pursue the idea of becoming a self-employed engineering consultant and a part- time farmer. In later years, he and Donna also established Silver Fox Stamps, a business that manufactured and marketed artistic rubber stamps. Allan was a fine craftsman who enjoyed restoring antique vehicles of all sorts. He also became very interested in Maine plates to help others interested in plate collecting. Active in his community, Allan was a selectman for the town of Winn for 9 years, retiring in August 2004 due to failing health. He was also a member and two-term president of the Penobscot Valley Hospital board of directors. Allan served as co-pastor of the Winn Home Fellowship Church for more than 25 years.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Donna of Winn, a daughter Deborah Capeci and her husband Jonathan of Spring City PA, daughter Sandra Thurlow and her husband Todd of East Winn, and son Steven Brown and his wife Aleyne of Lincoln, and a special gift from God, Renee Folnsbee of Lincoln. He also leaves behind a legacy of 12 Grandchildren, Jonathan, Rachael, Steven and Sandra Capeci, Melissa, Kimberly, Josiah and Nathanael Thurlow, Abigail, Elijah, Rebekah, and Isabel Brown. He is also survived by two brothers, David Brown of Winston-Salem Maine on Tuesday, November 23rd, from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. The memorial service will be Wednesday, November 24th, at 10 am also at Clay Funeral Home, with his son, Pastor Steve Brown, officiating. Burial will follow at Potters Brook Cemetery in East Winn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allan's memory to the Community Health and Counseling Hospice of Lincoln, Katahdin Area Support Group of Millinocket, or Lincoln Christian Fellowship Church. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
RELLA (SAUCIER) MICHAUD CHESLEY
WOODVILLE and EAST MILLINOCKET - Rella (Saucier) Michaud Chesley, 85, died Aug. 13, 2004, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Soldier Pond and was the last surviving child of the 19 children of Hilaire and Malvina (Saucier) Saucier. Rella married Samuel Michaud, July 13, 1936, and he died in 1954. She later married William E. Chesley, and he died in 1997. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, St. Ann Circle #545, and was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church, East Millinocket.
She is survived by two sons, Danforth Michaud and Samuel Michaud, Jr, both of Lincoln; five daughters, Cecelia Murphy of Millinocket, Pauline Bowers of Smithfield, Linda Kimball and her husband, George of Woodville, Beatrice Preston and Danforth Michaud, Jr.; a son-in-law, Linwood Bowers, Jr.; a stepson, Albert Chesley, and a stepdaughter, Gail Fleming.
Friends may call at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, during which time the Daughters of Isabella will recite the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Lincoln, with the Rev. Myles Cyr presiding. Interment will be in Woodville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
JOSEPH P. CIARROCHI
Lincoln- Joseph P. Ciarrochi, 91, husband of the late Carolyn (Corro) Ciarrochi, died November 27, 2004, in Lincoln. He was born in East Millinocket, April 6, 1913, the son of Nicola and Maasaroni (Casilde) Ciarrochi. Joe was part owner of the Millinocket Bowling Center which opened in 1963. He also owned and operated the Rose Bowl Restaurant in Lincoln for 43 years. He was an avid businessman and he loved bowling. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas of Winn and Joseph of Lincoln; a daughter, Joan Theberge of Portland; two brothers, Gene of East Millinocket and Bob of England; five grandchildren, Jody, Paul, Lisa, John and Kristi; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lincoln, with the Rev. Myles Cyr officiating. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lincoln Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations to the Lincoln Historical Society. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
SHERRY T. CLAY
LINCOLN - Sherry Elaine (Thurlow) Clay, 55, wife of Hervey E. Clay, died unexpectedly Nov. 21, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 7, 1950, in Lincoln, the daughter of Willmont and Jean (Harris) Thurlow. Sherry grew up on the Dodlin Road in Enfield and attended Enfield Schools. She graduated from Penobscot Valley High School in 1968 and worked in local nursing homes as a nurse’s aid for a short time. On June 21, 1969, she married Hervey Clay and was a stay at home mom until 1988 when she went to work at the Clay Funeral Home where she was the treasurer and office manager, a position she held at the time of her death. She enjoyed her recent trips to Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed frequent family gatherings and dearly loved her family. She was a girl scout leader for a while, was a member and secretary/treasurer of the South Lincoln Community Progress Club, and was a member of the First Bible Baptist Church of Lincoln.
In addition to her parents, Willmont and Jean of Enfield, and her husband, Hervey, she is survived by four children, Vicki Clay and her husband, Steve Dickey, Stephen Clay and his wife, Annette, Katie Clay, and Samuel Clay and his wife, Breanah, all of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Brianne, Emily, Adam and Paige Libby, Brandon Wardwell and Jonathan Clay, all of Lincoln; three brothers, Ronald Thurlow and his wife, Celeste and Jeffrey Thurlow and his wife Mary Jean all of Mass, and Kelsey Thurlow and his wife, Linda of Missouri, and Denise McCormick and her husband, Mitch of Islesford; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Clifford and her husband, Dale of Haynesville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. PAULINE V. CURRIER
West Enfield - Pauline V. Currier, 77, wife of the late Walter Currier, died at her home in West Enfield. She was born in Lincoln, Sept 16, 1927, the daughter of Lee and Elizabeth (Kimball) Tozier.
Among her survivors are a son, Weston Currier and his wife, Joyce of Lyman; three daughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Ricky Martin of Dedham, Penny and Michael Dow of Argyle and Tammy and John Plante of Green bush; a brother, Harold Tozier; four sisters, Helen Wickett, Alberta Cole, Marjorie Dam and Gloria Reed; five special grandchildren, Chad and Kailee Martin, Michael "Trapper" Dow and Heidi and Darren Plante; four other grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at the West Enfield Cemetery, with the Rev. Alan Porter officiating. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
AVIS E. (THIBODEAU) DANFORTH
LINCOLN - Avis E. (Thibodeau) Danforth, 82, wife of the late Murray Danforth, passed away Dec. 1, 2004, at a Lincoln healthcare facility. She was born, June 10, 1922, in Reed Plt., the daughter of Ralph and Pauline (Blanchard) Thibodeau. Avis grew up in Carroll, attended Carroll grammar school, Lee Academy and graduated from eastern Ohio. The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Health Care and Penobscot Valley Hospital and her friends for the wonderful care and support she has received during her illness. a gentle soul has passed on and she'll be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 5-7 p.m. Saturday, at the Clay Funeral Home 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Lindsay Cemetery, Carroll, with Pastor William Bewell officiating. Those who wish may donate in her memory to the Carroll Congregational Church. JACK R. DOANE
AUGUSTA-Jack R. Doane, 69, died Feb. 15, 2005 at the Togus VA Medical Center following a long illness. He had been continually hospitalized at Togus since Aug. 1987. Jack was born March 17, 1936, in Kingman, the eldest son of son of Earl Clifford and Janette Ruth (Brittain) Doane. His father died a tragic, unexpected death on Nov. 29, 1961. His mother died at the age of 75 following a long illness. Jack attended Lee Academy. He enlisted in the United States Army on Aug. 20, 1954, serving until Aug. 8, 1957, and again from Aug. 31, 1961 to April 12, 1962. He was stationed in Alaska, Fort Bliss, Maine woods. He was an avid reader of American history, country and western ballads and the Bible. He loved gospel and country music. He was an active member of the VA Medical Center Chapel and when well enough served as a deacon. Jack will be sadly missed by all who knew him and especially by his family, friends and staff at the Togus VA Medical Center.
There will be a funeral in the spring. Spring intermenty will be in the family lot at the Kingman Cemetery. Arrangements are with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
