IRENE A. CHAMBERLAIN
HOWLAND - Irene A. Chamberlain, 72, passed away July 2, 2008, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1936, in Howland, the daughter of John and Ruby (Parker) Batchelder.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Chamberlain of Howland; two daughters, Vickie and David Neal of Enfield, and Darlene Carey of Brewer; two grandsons, Jeremy and Nicole Neal of Center Barnstead, Maine the son of William Chandler. and Janie (Norton) Chandler.
Roland served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Seaman First Class where his ship U.S.S.- LST-874 participated in the assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto. He worked at Bath Iron Works in Bath, but most people will remember Roland from working as a Lobster Fisherman in Jonesport, Lincoln Pulp & Paper, and Mattanawcook Jr. High School in Lincoln.
Roland was a member of the Lincoln Center Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed it very much. He was a member of Carl Burrill American Legion Post # 77 and Avon D. Flanders VFW Post 1438. He is survived by two sons, Roland Jr. and his wife, Brenda; Dayne and his wife, Lisa; a daughter, Penny and husband, Thomas Darr all of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Roland III his wife, Tammy; Eric and his wife, Sherri; Emily Darr; Matthew Darr; and Joshua Chandler; five great grand children Paige, Nicole, Shayna, Lindsay, and Kaitlynn.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor William Bewell officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
TRAVIS EARL "TRAP" CHASE
Lincoln - Travis Earl "Trap" Chase, 49, died April 11, 2008, at his home. He was born September 5, 1958, the son of Maurice and Pauline (Whitney) Chase. Travis worked in the woods and iron industry for 36 years for Ronnie and Glen Porter. He enjoyed fishing and socializing with family and friends. He was well liked and loved by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his mother, Pauline Smith and a sister, LouAnn Shorey. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Maurice and Hazel Chase; the mother of his children, Mary Chase; daughters, Ashley Chase (Ash-bug) , Amanda Chase (Pooh Bear) and Audrey Chase (Baby); his first and only granddaughter, Desirae Donath (Baby Bug); a brother, John Chase; a sister, Patty Mulligan; a step-brother, Carroll Tash; a step-sister, Peggy Drinkwater.
There will be a family gathering, to pay respects and a benefit supper to assist the family with funeral expenses, from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Rt. 2, Lincoln. "Loved and missed, always, by Ashley Amanda and Audrey" In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln, to help with expenses.
JOYCE JOAN CHESLEY
LINCOLN--Joyce Joan (Curtis) Chesley, 69, died Aug 29, 2008, at a Lincoln hospital. Joyce was born May 13, 1939, in Bangor. She was the daughter of George R. and Lida Gordon Curtis. She attended schools in Lincoln and graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1957. Joyce married Melvin A. Chesley Sr., June 10, 1958. Together they operated Chesley Farms in Lincoln. Among one of her greatest achievements, Joyce was nominated for the Hero of the Year Award in 2004 for her tireless efforts as part of a successful fund raising campaign to bring the Lincoln Lakes Region Dialysis Center to Lincoln. Joyce's strength and courage during her illness was an inspiration to all that knew her.
Joyce is survived by her husband Melvin and daughters, Barbara Montgomery of Lincoln and Sandra Zerio of Tolland, CT; four sisters, Marguerite Powers and Lorena Powers of East Millinocket, Mary Parsons of Lincoln and Victoria Knights of Brookton; five brothers, George, Franklin, Calvin and Newton Curtis of Lincoln and Gordon Curtis of Milo; four grandchildren and one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her son Melvin Chesley Jr. and two sisters, Decima Curtis and Glendine Maiwald.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
RICHARD R. CHUBBUCK, SR.
BRADLEY- Richard R. Chubbuck, Sr., 64, died Sept. 22, 2007 at a Bangor nursing home. He was born October 12, 1942, in Edgecomb the son of Halsie and Inez (Ireland) Chubbuck. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He also enjoyed attending Rev. Ed Costain’s church.
He is survived by his wife, Cora (McAlpine) Chubbuck of Bradley; two sons, Richard Chubbuck, Jr. of Howland and Todd Chubbuck of Bradley; a sister, Charlotte McPherson; 3 grandsons, Dustin Emerson, Tyler Sibley and Ryan Chubbuck; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sheila Ann Chubbuck.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Costain officiating. Interment will be in Tucker Ridge Cemetery in Springfield. Donations may be made to help with funeral expenses. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
RALPH EUGENE CLARK, SR.
SPRINGFIELD, ME - Ralph Eugene Clark, Sr., 68, husband of Mary (Schultz) Clark, passed away Nov 26, 2007, at his home. He was born Feb 3, 1939, in Prentiss, Maine and at the age of 15, he hitchhiked to Maine in 2005 to retire. Ralph enjoyed being back close to the ones he loved. Working in the woods, on his bulldozer and spending time with family were just some of his enjoyments.
In addition to his wife, Mary E. Clark of Springfield, Me., he is survived by two sons, Ralph E. Clark, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Carroll, Me. and David P. Clark, his fiancé Julie Benson and grandchild to be in June, of Vernon Conn.; two daughters, Laura L. Clark and her companion Tim Hogan of Hebron, Conn., and Krystal L. Schultz of Springfield, Me.; two granddaughters, Heather Whitney, and Holly and her husband, Travis Worster, all of Kingman, Me.; two great-granddaughters, Deanna and Kaylee Glidden of Kingman, Me.; aunt and uncle, Marguerite and Alva Westgate of Lincoln, Me. ; two brothers, Mayland Clark and his fiancé Barbara of East Hartford, Conn., and Larry Clark of N.H.; daughter-in-law, Kari Bernard of Enfield; two sisters, Jennie Leigh-ton and Bud of Lincoln and Rosemary Glidden of Howland; a brother, Genie Haverlock and Eileen of Tolland, Conn.; a bro-ther-in-law, Harold Sherwood of Howland; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Andy; four sisters, Martha Sherwood, Marilyn Grace Kreta and Andrew, Geneva Pinkham and Howard, and Irene Haverlock; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Glidden.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Friday at St. Leo Catholic Church with the Rev. Leroy Landry presiding. Interment will be at St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Enfield. There will be a gathering after the service in the basement of the church. MALCOLM DEAN BLAKE
EDINBURG - Malcolm Dean Blake, 71, husband of Sally (Tilton) Blake, passed away Feb. 14, 2009, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Lincoln, the son of Dean and Charlotte "Lottie" (Stevens) Blake. Malcolm was a 1956 graduate of Mattanawcook Academy. He served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Robinson. He worked at the University of New Jersey and Mike Blake of Oklahoma branch of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, at Southwestern Regional Medical Center, 10109 E. 79th Street (81st Street & Highway 169), Tulsa, Maine in Orono with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education.
The family moved to Milo and David began a life long dream of teaching English at Foxcroft Academy, a dream that lasted 22 years and served hundreds of students. He retired in 1995. In 1989, David and Dianne became parents once more when they hosted a foreign exchange student from Mito, Japan. David served as committee member and leader of Boy Scouts of America, Troop #50. He was proud to be a lifetime member of National Rifle Association. Along with his wife, he became a privileged member of the Society of Old Ivory and Ohme Porcelain, and they planned their yearly vacation around SOIOP conventions across the United States. He was an avid sportsman and an Unregistered California; his grandchildren, Mary Anna Russell, Donald O’Dell Russell and Brenna Elyse Russell of Pittsfield; James Joseph McGuinness IV, and Paige Grace McGuinness, of Milo and Meghan Elizabeth McGuinness, currently serving in the U.S. Navy in Virginia and mother of his great-grandchild, Christopher Ayden McGuinness. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Angel W. Russell. He leaves behind, a legacy of caring, teaching, learning and random acts of kindness.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. BYRON CORLISS BURRILL
Lincoln - Byron Corliss Burrill, 83, husband of Barbara (Decker) Burrill, passed away June 3, 2008, at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. Byron was born April 20, 1925 on the Half-Township Road in Lincoln, the son of Stephen and Bernice (Fogg) Burrill. Byron worked in the woods with his father and brothers as a youth, using horses to yard out the wood they cut with bucksaws. Byron worked on construction and farming. He enjoyed his John Deere tractor and carpentry work. He also was a member of the Masons, Olive Branch Lodge No. 124 in Charleston Maine, Barbara C. Burrill of Lincoln Maine.
PRINCE R. BURRILL
LINCOLN - Prince R. Burrill, 90, husband of the late Joan (Beaulieu) Burrill, passed away Feb. 11, 2009, at a Lincoln health care facility. He was born March 29, 1918, in Lincoln, the son of Stephen and Bernice (Fogg) Burrill. Prince served in the Aleutian Campaign during World War II. Upon returning to the U.S., he worked on a medical train, transporting wounded troops to homes or hospitals. After his military service, he worked as a welder in Iowa; two grandchildren, Richard Jr. and Laura Burrill, and Crystal Burrill; as well as numerous great-grandchildren; three brothers, Walter, Floyd and Carlton Burrill; two sisters, Evelyn (Burrill) Shurtleff and Adria (Burrill) Wight; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Joan, he was predeceased by nine siblings, Albert, Byron, Vincent, Dale, Calvin and David Burrill, Beulah (Burrill) Burridge, Pearl (Burrill) Owens and Vera Burrill.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with the Rev. Terry Upcott officiating. Spring intermenty will be at Walnut Hills Cemetery, North Yarmouth.
