Euclid met the love of his life, Joyce, at Mattanawcook Academy in 1952 - the football player and the cheerleader. They built a life together that was devoted to family and celebrated 52 years of marriage.
As much as he loved his life and provided for his family, Euclid gave back many times to his friends, co-workers, community and country. He served his country in the Air Force as a crew chief stationed at Limestone Air Force Base. Euclid is a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. As Grand Knight, he won National awards for his council. Under his leadership, the KC-Mason scholarship was founded. He is a life-time member of the American Legion.
In his community, Euclid helped people in need when tragedy struck, and delivered toys on Christmas Eve to area children. Euclid instilled in his family how to live life as best you can and his favorite saying was "Do what you have to do!" He taught us all how to camp, hunt, fish, and enjoyed life on Cold Stream Pond. Most recently, he spent his time with family at hunting camp, which became a special place for Paul, Peter, and his grandson, Michael.

Those who wish may donate in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association -Thompson Jr., 80, died June 14, 2008 at the V.A. home in Bangor after a brief battle with cancer. He was born February 5, 1928 in Springfield the son of the late George Sr. and Hazel (Lyons) Thompson. He left high school to fulfill his patriotic duty, enlisting in the Army Air Corp. during World War II, serving as an aircraft mechanic and then returned home to marry Edwina (Lothrop) Thompson, his wife of more than 50 years. They then moved to Hartford, CT where George worked at Pratt & Whitney with the team that designed the first solar rocket cells. George was a farmer at heart and in 1964, they returned home to the farm in Springfield to raise their family where he also worked numerous jobs as a trucker and a logger before retiring.
George was a man who appreciated the simple things in life: times with family, the outdoors, sharing stories with family and friends, attending church and the people at the Wesley Community Church and Red Sox games. He was a kind man who was slow to judge and quick to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his beloved wife Edwina and three daughters: Sandra and her husband Jeffery Smart and their son Andrew and their grandson Gaige of Brownville; Carla and her husband Timothy Jundt and their daughters Janelle and Lindsay of Alexander; Lorna Arizona; his father, Fern Thompson and Brenda, of Lincoln and Arizona; sisters-in-law, Geraldine, Mary Jane, Pauline, his "third wife" Carleen, Barbara and Marie; several nieces and nephews.
