Jeanne M. (Marquis) Nicholson
Jeanne M. (Marquis) Nicholson of East Grand Avenue, passed away after a brief illness Monday, August 14, 2006 at Southern N.H.
Jeanne was born October 29, 1941, in Lewiston, the daughter of the late Norman and Jeannette Marquis both formerly of Lewiston.
Jeanne was a 1959 graduate of Lewiston High School. She was employed by Coastal Awards in Biddeford. She loved her family, her friends and the beach.
Jeanne leaves behind her beloved brother and sister–in-law, Norman and Eunice Marquis of Old Orchard Beach; a daughter, Kelly (Nicholson) Williams; a son-in-law, Patrick Williams of Merrimack, California; a son, Timothy Nicholson of Nashua, N.H. She also leaves behind and will be terribly missed by her three grandchildren; Zachary Nicholson (age 9), Hannah Williams (age 5), and Matthew Williams (age 2); her niece/goddaughter, Jackie Marquis, and nephews David Marquis and Peter Marquis.
Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. , Thursday August 17, 2006, at the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, 36 Portland Avenue, Old Orchard Beach.

Peter W. Shea
Peter W. Shea, of Biddeford, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at N.H., a son of Leo and Christina Fullam Shea and was educated there.
Mr. Shea served with the Army Air Corps during WW2.
On July 1, 1950, he married Marie Helen Amanda Cote in Biddeford.
Peter worked for 30 years as a grocer and for 24 years at Saco Defense, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Shea was a member of St. Mary’s Church and, B.P.O.E. Biddeford-Saco Elks. He walked daily at the Maine, Marlene Shea-Stryker and her husband Arthur of Kihei, Maui, Hawaii, Marjory Clavet of East Waterboro, N.H., two sisters: Dorothy Archibald and her husband John of Spring Hill, Fla., Rita Hurlehy of Dover, Maine 04005. Donations in Peter’s memory may be made to: St. Mary’s Church, 41 Sullivan St. Biddeford, Maine Medical Center. He was born in Montivelle, Conn. on February 11, 1929 a son of Dymtro and Matrona Hrecko Hallczuk and was educated in Arundel schools.
On May 27, 1952 he married Gertrude Bissonette in St. Andre’s Church, Biddeford.
Billy worked over 24 years with Morningstar in Kennebunk and eight years with Shape Inc. in Kennebunk. He retired in 1994. His love was working his farm, his animals, haying and his tractor. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, cutting firewood and maintaining his property.
He served over 20 years with the Maine 04005. Memorial donations in Francis’ memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc., One Main St. Suite 300, Topsham, Maine Medical Center after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident on Main St. in Saco. He was born in Portland, on April 8, 1985, a son of Bruce & Karen Gagnon Audie. He was educated in Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in the class of 2004. In May of 2006 he graduated from Eastern Maine 04005. Donations in Normand’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association of Maine from 1933 to 1946.
On April 1, 1940 he married Jeannette Beaudoin in Boston. During World War II he worked at the South Portland Navy Yard and was a U.S.O. Volunteer, entertaining the troops in South Portland and Boston. With his wife he owned and operated Curro’s Green house and Flower Shop for more than years, the Sundeck Motel in Saco from 1968 to 1973, and Nick Curro and Sons doing construction, excavation and paving for since the 1950s.
Nick was member of St. Andre’s Church. He also belonged to the Rochambeau Club, the Club Voltigeur and the Knights of Columbus Luke E. Hart Council 4th degree. He was a founding member of the Amvets Drum and Bugle Corps and had served as Biddeford’s Fire Commissioner for 18 years. As a young man he had been an amateur boxer in the featherweight class; later he gave his time training young men in the sport and maintained an active interest in boxing all his life. He enjoyed cribbage and outdoor activities.
Mr. Curro was pre-deceased by a daughter, Priscille Curro in 1954 and a son, Conrad in 1992. He was also predeceased by a sister, Rose Curro in 1943 and a brother, Saro Curro in 2001.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years Jeannette Curro of Biddeford, five daughters: Paula Vermette and her husband Normand, Joanne Westman and Ben Plodzik of Winterhaven, Fla., Rose Paquette and her husband Gerard, Jean Strout and her husband Wayne Sr., Diane Grenier and her husband Raymond all of Biddeford, one son, Nicholas P. Curro Jr. and his wife Priscilla of Biddeford two brothers, Frank Curro of Belmont, Mass., Joseph Curro of Londonderry, Maine Chapter, P.O. Box 8730, Portland, Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after suffering head and neck injuries in a fall at his home. He was born in Grand Isle on Feb. 26, 1921 a son of Come and Odile Daigle Cyr and was educated in Madawaska schools and graduated from Madawaska High School in the class of 1939.
Mr. Cyr served with the US Army Air Forces during World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross medal for meritorious service.
On April 20, 1942 he married Lillian Croteau in Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Saco.
He worked a few years with the Saco-Lowell Shop in Biddeford, 10 years with Kidder Press in Dover, Connecticut, Bertrand Cyr and his wife Joan of Saco, Elden Cyr and his wife Mary of Maine.
Mrs. Nadeau was employed as an English teacher for many years. She also was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family.
Her hobbies were gardening and planting flowers. She was an avid snow skier.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Nadeau on April 23, 2003. She also predeceased by one sister Barbara Ryan
She is survived by 2 sons – John Jay Nadeau and his wife Lynn of Saco Steve Nadeau of Saco, four grandchildren – Gillienne, Kristian, Cody & Casey one niece and one nephew.
A Funeral Service was held at 11a.m. Tuesday from Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James St., Saco. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Biddeford. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
Albert J. Vittorioso
Albert J. Vittorioso, 79, of Saco, passed away quietly from complications of Parkinsons Disease and Diabetes, on Friday, September 1, 2006, at Huntington Common in Kennebunk.
Al was a first generation American, born on August 11, 1927 in Stoneham, Massachusetts, class of 1945.
Prior to graduating high school, Al became employed with Lyn-Flex Industries, a small innersole shoe company. When the company moved its operation to Saco, he took the opportunity for advancement and a more countrified life for his young family. Al was employed by Lyn-Flex Industries for over 50 years, retiring in 1993.
Following employment, he volunteered at Southern Massachusetts 10 grandchildren – two great grandchildren – several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours were on from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday from Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James St., Saco. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday from Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations to Alzheimer’s Association – Washington, Wisc., retiring in 1979 from injuries he suffered in an automobile accident.
David was a member of the Biddeford – Saco Elks and the Saco Bay Yacht Club. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, traveling, wintering in N.Y., three grandsons, Andrew and Daniel Copeland of Cedarhurst, N.Y.
Visiting hours were on Friday, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford. A Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Benjamin F. Krasko
Benjamin F. Krasko, 92, a resident of Basswood Dr., passed away Tuesday on September 5, 2006, at his residence.
He was born on June 14, 1914 in Biddeford, a son of Anthony and Ursula Petroskas Krasko. He was educated from Biddeford High School.
Benny was a merchant marine during World War II.
Earlier, Mr. Krasko was employed by Saco Lowell Shops and Bruce Shoe. Later, he worked for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 25 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of St. Louis Alumni Association. Mr. Krasko was a parishioner of St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.
His wife Rachel Regis Krasko predeceased him in July of 1993.
He is survived by one son – Robert Krasko and his wife Terry of Green land, N. H., one daughter Debra Riviera of Jacksonville, N.C., one sister Madeline Carthas of Quincy, Mass., five grandchildren two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews

Ludger Vallee
Ludger Vallee, 95, a resident of Oceanside Drive and formerly of Lewiston, passed away on September 2, 2006, at Southridge Living Center in Biddeford.
He was born on May 20, 1911 in St. Ludger, Canada, the son of Napoleon and Josephine Drouin Vallee.
Mr. Vallee was a foreman and superintendent in the shoe industry, where he was employed throughout his life.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards.
His first wife Gertrude Renaud Vallee predeceased him in 1990 and by several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his son Raymond L. Vallee Sr. and his wife Suzanne of Saco, five grandchildren Raymond L. Vallee Jr., Anne Tortorella, Thomas, Christopher and Timothy Vallee, eight great grandchildren Ray III, Michael, Alyssa, TJ, Jacqueline, Christopher, Natalie and Caroline, several nieces and nephews and his former wife Irene Madore.
A Visiting Hour was Friday with a Funeral Service at 11a.m. Friday from Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James St., Saco. Burial will be at a later date in St. Peter & St. Paul’s Cemetery in Lewiston. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.

Conrad L. Lamirande
Conrad L. Lamirande, 72, of Saco, passed away peacefully Sunday morning on September 24, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on August 10, 1934 in Biddeford, a son of Alfred and Germaine Hebert Lamirande. He was educated from Notre Dame.
Earlier he was employed by West Point Pepperell and later retired from Masonry.
He enjoyed his family, gardening and working outside with his flowers.
Mr. Lamirande was predeceased by 2 sons Timothy in 1988 and Raymond Lamirande in 2004.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Joan Padhaisky Lamirande of Saco, one son – Joseph Lamirande of West Buxton, five daughters – Diane Doyon and her husband Richard of Saco, Jacqueline Looke of Saco, Carol Lamirande and her companion Vern of Acton, Lee Ann Mains and her husband Greg of Gorham, Jennifer Wade and her husband Tom of Waterboro, five sisters and one brother, five grandchildren – three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday from Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Biddeford. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
