Gerard J. Cyr
Gerard J. Cyr, 80, died Saturday September 23, 2006 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Madawaska on January 23, 1926 a son of Come and Odile Daigle and was educated in Madawaska schools.
Mr. Cyr served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and received the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service.
After the war he settled in the Hartford, Conn. area for a few years before returning back to N.H., six brothers Reginald Cyr of Biddeford, Armand Cyr and his wife Shirley of Maine Cancer Foundation – P.O. Box 553 – Portland, ME. 04112.
Melville T. Pickering
Melville T. Pickering, 91, of Nottingham Dr., passed away Sunday morning on September 17, 2006, at Thompson Pickering. Melville graduated from Deer Isle High School, class of 1933.
Earlier in life he was a yachtsman. He also served in the United States Army during World War II in Company A, 534th Boat and Shore Battalion.
Mr. Pickering was employed as a commercial fisherman in Rockland for 20 years. He also worked in Marine Colloids, a division of FMC in Rockland, for 20 years, retiring in 1983.
During retirement he worked for Portland Trap knitting lobster trap heads for the inside of lobster traps. His hobbies included bird watching and crossword puzzles. He enjoyed his cat. Most of all loved to spend time with his family. He was predeceased by two brothers Kenneth and George and two sisters Marion and Gwenith.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Muriel French Pickering of Saco, two sons – Marvin Pickering of Saco, Bryon Pickering of Winchester, Mass., one daughter Nancy A. Pickering of Saco, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
A Graveside Service will be held at 11a.m. Thursday in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco, with Rev. Irvin Koelker officiating. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
Michael A. James
Michael A. James, 61, a resident of Auburn St., and formerly of Saco, passed away Saturday morning on September 23, 2006, at New York, a son of Grant H. and Marjorie E. Williamson Dodds.
Michael served in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot during Vietnam.
Earlier he was employed by Loreal in Maine in 1981. He later was employed by Goodwill Industries and Community Partners in direct care with head injury patients.
He was a motorcycle and Corvette enthusiast.
He was predeceased by his former wife Virginia Allen Anton on September 19, 2004. He was also predeceased by two brothers – Stephen G. and Russell Dodds.
He is survived by three step children – Jay E. Anton of Brookline, Mass., Roz Anton of Saco, Christina Benamati of Orlando, Calif., eight grandchildren – Morgan, Nikolas, Michael, Alex and Andrew Reny. David, Stephen and Anthony Roe. She will be deeply missed by her special friend Frank Bridges who has been her inspiration for the past 18 years.
Private Services are being held. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
Barry Bouffard
Barry Bouffard, 58, of Saco, died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Maine to Benefit the American Lung Association for two years in a row. A talented musician, he played country and French Canadian Music on the trumpet, drums and guitar. He enjoyed Friday night card games with his buddies, fishing, hunting and camping at Sebago Lake. Barry loved family time, especially time spent with his grandson, Andrew.
Barry as predeceased by his father, Andrew in 1993. Surviving are: His wife Claire Landry Bouffard of Saco; one daughter, Devra Holmquist and her husband Mark of E. Waterboro; one son, David Bouffard and his wife Nancy of Biddeford; his mother of Saco; two brothers, Kenneth Bouffard and his wife Priscilla of Saco, Rodney Bouffard and his wife Jeanne of Gray; five sisters, Joan Camire and her husband Richard of Biddeford, Nancy Nadeau and her husband Real of Biddeford, Debbie Saucier and her husband Donald of E. Waterboro, Tammy Laflamme and her husband Richard of Dayton, Michelle Kimborowicz and her husband David of Biddeford; three grandchildren Andrew and Audrey Holmquist and Abigail Bouffard as well as several nieces and nephews.

Alexandrine Burnham
Alexandrine “Sandy” Burnham, 85, of Scarborough and formerly of Ocean Park, died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Pine Point Nursing Center. She was born July 13, 1921 in St. Agathe, Maine schools. She came to this area in 1940.
On May 22, 1974, she married Daniel E. Burnham in Biddeford. He died November 23, 2004.
Surviving are: Three sons: Brother Willie Morin S.C. of Woonsocket, R.I., Richard Morin of Las Vegas, Nev., Michael Morin of Saco; five daughters: Jacqueline Grant of Sanford, Patricia Pelletier of Saco, Nancy Waterman of Buxton, Linda Morin of Biddeford, Dorothy Marchand of Old Orchard Beach; one brother Real Gagnon of Alfred; one stepson, Carleton Burnham of Sanford; two stepdaughters Beverly Morrow of Renton, Wash. and Arline N.H., a daughter of Henry and Roseanne Gilbert Provencher. She was one of 17 children. She was educated in Gorham schools.
Her husband died in 1997. For many years they resided in Maine and settling in Old Orchard Beach several years ago.
Mrs. Gilbert was employed by the Old Orchard Beach Police Department as a French language interpreter and a clerk for several years, until a few years ago when illness forced her to retire. For many years she was associated with Brookside Cabins on Portland Avenue.
She was an avid knitter. She donated all of her knitting projects to the needy.
She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s parish and was very active in the parish’s annual Christmas Fair and other parish activities. She knitted several hundred pairs of mittens and hats each year, which she donated.
Survivors include: One sister, Theresa Delafontaine of Sanford; two sisters-in-law, Anita Knox of Old Orchard Beach and Dora Provencher of Berlin, Maine.
He married Paula Belair Deschambault on May 13, 1995.
David’s work and interests were eclectic. He was a self-employed marketing and advertising consultant, a chef and also a financial consultant. He loved cooking and entertaining, bicycling, and boating on Casco Bay.
Surviving are: His wife Paula Standley of Wells; one son Justin Standley and his fiancee Jenna DeLorme of Biddeford; one daughter Vanessa Medrano of Chula Vista, Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. She was born in Biddeford on July 3, 1948 a daughter of John E. and Leona M. Kimball Travers. She was educated in Old Orchard Beach Schools and graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School in the class of 1966.
Linda worked as a bookkeeper in the local area for several years last working for Lee Accounting in Old Orchard Beach. She enjoyed scrap booking and country music concerts with her sisters and granddaughter Carmen.
Surviving are: One son, Robert J. Pralicz of Steep Falls; one daughter, Donna M. “Tish” Pralicz of Scarborough; her father of Old Orchard Beach; one brother, Thomas E. Travers of Old Orchard Beach; four sisters, Carol Ann Cloutier of Arundel, Donna Marie Travers of Biddeford, Kelly Jean Wentworth of Kennebunk, Gayle Lynn Bolduc of Arundel and four grandchildren, Robbie Pralicz, Jr., Crmen Marie Esposito, Tyler Guy Esposito & Jeffrey Scott Russell, II.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Biddeford Memorial donations in Linda’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association of Maine Medical Center, after his battle with failing health. He was born October 29, 1949 in Biddeford the son of Thomas J. and M. Jeanne Cyr Murphy. Harold was raised in Lyman, ME and was educated in Kennebunk and SMTC in Portland.
He worked for over 18 years for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a toolmaker, retiring in 1997. His life long loves were Music, Vintage Cars and Computers.
Harold was a member of the GTO and Vacationland Cruises car clubs. Through these clubs, he had become very involved in their holiday service project that donated many toys to needy children in the area.
He is survived by: his loving wife Pauline Murphy of N. Waterboro; six step-children, David Monroe and his wife Faith of N. Waterboro, Sharon Cole and Shirley Bigelow both of N. Waterboro, Michael Monroe and his wife Suzanne of Dahlonega, Ga., Mark Monroe of N. Waterboro, Nicole Fortier and her husband Todd of N. Waterboro; 11 grandchildren; his brother Robert Murphy of Biddeford and
several nephews and a niece.

Sara Beth Hale
Sara Beth Hale, 36, of Biddeford died unexpectedly Sunday, November 26, 2006 in Scarborough. Sarah was born March 22,1970 in Portland. She was the daughter of Susan and Richard Bilodeau. Sara was raised and educated in Standish and Portland, graduating from Portland High school.
Sara had been employed with the Salvation Army and the Dollar Tree in Biddeford.
She was known for her kind and loyal friendship and often babysat for her friends. Playing darts and bingo were among her pastimes.
Surviving are: Her mother and father, Susan and Richard Bilodeau of Biddeford; a brother Gregor Hale of Biddeford; a sister Gail Marie Frazier and her husband Dwight of Eustis, Fla.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A service of remembrance will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel.
Charles Collard
Charles Collard, 75, of Biddeford, passed away Thursday afternoon on Jan. 25, 2007, at The Maine Medical Center, in the operating room at the former Webber Hospital and in Central Service at Southern Maine Medical Center. She was born in Canbrook, British Columbia April 22, 1913 the daughter of Frederick and Fanny Hyslop Stride. Ethel came to the United States at a young age. She lived in East Boston for more than 60 years. She later moved to N.H. and Kenneth Douglas Freda and his wife Linda Freda of Waltham, Mass.; two grandchildren Candace Marie Freda Medbery and her husband Kyle and Ken Freda Jr.; two great grandchildren, Autumn Renee and Amber Rose, all of Waltham. Sister June Guest and her husband Bill Guest and their families.

Eleanor Goldthwaite
Eleanor “Marie” Goldthwaite, of Biddeford, passed away early Tuesday, Jan. 23 at her home, 7 Bridge Road, a longtime resident of the old Haley house. She was born September 10, 1922 in Kennebunkport, Maine, 901 Maine 04005
Lawrence J. LaPierre
Lawrence J. LaPierre, 85, a resident of Portland Avenue, passed away Wednesday morning on Jan. 24, 2007, at Southern Maine.
He was predeceased by one sister – Dorothy Turcotte. He is survived by his wife of 23 years – Karen M. Lerch LaPierre of Old Orchard Beach; one son – James A. LaPierre of Cambridge, Mass.; one daughter – Nancy E. Mulqueen and her husband Joe of Portsmouth, Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born in Biddeford on January 2, 1981 a son of Michael A. Mondor and Joan Desmarais Worthing. He was educated from Thornton Academy in Saco. Joshua was employed by Radio Shack in Biddeford for three years.
His hobbies included gaming and working on his computer. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his friends and pets.
He is survived by his father, Michael A. Mondor of Saco, his mother Joan and step father Robert Worthing of Saco, two brothers, James and Timothy Worthing of Saco, one sister, Bonnie Samoilov of Biddeford, his maternal grandmother, Florence Desmarais of Biddeford, step grandparents, Lee and Judith Dickinson of Kennebunkm, one niece Skye and one nephew Jake as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Graveside Service will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
Rosilda L. Guay
Rosilda L. “Rose” Guay, 101, of Biddeford died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007 at St. Andre’s Health Care Center. She was born in Biddeford on June 9, 1905, daughter of Frank and Alice Houle Labbe, and educated in Biddeford Schools.
On Sept. 4, 1928, she married Arthur J. Guay at St. Joseph’s Church. Mrs. Guay was a communicant of St. Andre’s Church for most of her life. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxilary, and volunteered her time with the former St. Andre’s School Lunch Program. She enjoyed crochet, traveling, and gardening. Overall, she was a devoted mother and wife.
Mrs. Guay is pre-deceased by her husband Arthur on May 2, 1970. Surviving are two daughters, Alexina Barnett of Sanford and Therese Bastarache of Biddeford; two sons, Edmond Guay and wife Alice of Sanford and Donald Guay and wife Nanette of Norfolk, Va.; one brother, Emile Labbe of Biddeford; one sister, Jane Croteau of Michigan; 31 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
