Paul E. DeRochemont
NEW BOSTON - Paul Edward DeRochemont, 65, of 226 Joe English Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999.
Born in Portsmouth, N.H., he was the son of Orville and Phylis (Goodwin) DeRochemont. Mr. DeRochemont had been a resident of New Boston for the past 30 years. He was an Army veteran.
He had been employed for 29 years as a mechanic with the Public Service Company of New Hampshire. He was also a 20-year member of the New Boston Police Department, having served as assistant chief. Following his retirement, Mr. DeRochemont had worked part-time at Dobles Chevrolet and Autofair, both of Manchester. He was a member of the New Boston Fire Department and Law Enforcement Association. He was an active league bowler at Kings Lane for many years.
He was predeceased by his stepmother, Virginia (Giles) DeRochemont.
Mr. DeRochemont was the husband of Romono E. (Kluesener) for 43 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Troy G. DeRochemont of Weare, N.H. and Todd E. DeRochemont of New Boston; three daughters, Tammy J. Paul of Goffstown, N.H., Tina M. DeRochemont and Tanya DeRochemont, both of New Boston; two brothers, Orville DeRochemont of South Berwick, Maine and Ronald DeRochemont of Rye, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
John H. Ruocco
NEWMARKET - John H. Ruocco Jr., 60, of Doe Farm Lane, formerly of Lynn, Mass., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at his home following a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of the late John H. Ruocco Sr. and Ruth E. (Lovett) Ruocco. He graduated from Lynn English High School and resided in Lynn for many years until moving to Newmarket.
He was the owner and operator of Rock's Service, Electric Plumbing & Heating for 20 years. He was previously employed at the General Electric Company as an aircraft development analyst for 14 years and also was a community development construction specialist in Exeter, N.H. for four years.
Mr. Ruocco was a Vietnam veteran having served in the Air Force as a sergeant.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Newmarket, a life member of the American Legion Post No. 32, the Disabled American Veterans Post No. 13 Squamscott, a member of the Kiwanis Club in Exeter, a 50-year member of the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the New Hampshire Rifle Association. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Ruocco was the husband of Claire A. (O'Connell) Ruocco.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, David J. Ruocco and his wife, Laura, of East Kingston, N.H.; a daughter, Joyce A. Ruocco of Newmarket; a brother, David M. Ruocco of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Ruth E. Troy of Lynn; two grandchildren, Ashley and Christopher Ruocco; and several nieces and nephews.
Clara M. Fournier
DOVER - Clara "Claire" Mary Fournier, 65, of 1003 Woodbury Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a long bout with cancer.
Born July 7, 1934, she was the daughter of James and Catherine Parcell.
She was a resident of Dover for 17 years, having recently moved to Portsmouth. Claire was employed with General Electric of Somersworth, and was a member of the Moose of Dover. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church of Dover.
She was the wife of Lew Fournier of Portsmouth.
In addition to her husband, Claire is survived by a daughter, Susan Dame of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Parcell of Lynnfield, Mass., James Parcell Jr. of Somersworth and Raymond Parcell of Rochester, N.H.; two sisters, Irene Argereow of Portsmouth and Marcia Albandoz of Boston, Mass.
Kenneth A. Boardman
ROCKLAND - Kenneth A. Boardman, 85, of Shore Village Nursing Home, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999 at the Pen Bay Medical Center.
Born June 14, 1914 in Jefferson, Maine, he was the son of the late Herbert and Flora (Lash) Boardman.
He was employed as a nurse for many years in the mid-Maine area. He was a master electrician who owned his own business for a number of years.
During World War II, he was Naval electrical inspector on ATR tugboats at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He also spent a year in radio, having broadcasted from WRDO with his own show, "The Kenny Boardman Breakfast Show," and later on WFAU with a news commentary program.
Mr. Boardman was also involved in entertainment and worked as a master of ceremonies.
He was a member of the Masons and the Odd Fellows.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Carroll, Esten and Charlie; and his second wife, Jane (Watts) Boardman.
Mr. Boardman was the husband of Alma Boardman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Sterling Boardman and his wife, Jeanie, of Portsmouth, N.H.; his son, Dana Boardman and his companion, Clara, of Waldoboro, Maine; six grandchildren, Vernon Boardman of Portsmouth, Diana Erbach of Rochester, N.H., Kent, Joseph, Diamond and Carlissa Boardman of Waldoboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Mabel H. Schofield
NEWBURYPORT, Mass. - Mabel Hobbs Schofield, 99, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999 at the Brigham Manor, Newburyport.
Born Nov. 3, 1899 in Fremont, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Ada Jones Hobbs and Lecassard L. Hobbs.
Mrs. Schofield received her bachelor's degree from Smith College with the Class of 1921 and was a life member of the Smith College Alumnae Association. A member of the Deborah Wheelock Chapter, DAR, she was a descendant of Recompense Wadsworth, a private in Capt. Peter Talbot's company of Stoughton, which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775. She was also a descendent of the poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Gareth W. Dunleavy and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Janet E. Dunleavy, of Exeter, N.H.; three grandchildren, Stephen A. Dunleavy of Lake Tahoe, Nev., Gweneth A. Dunleavy of Louisville, Ky., and Karen R. Galat of Newburyport; and six great-grandchildren.
Violet E. Simpson
KITTERY - Violet Eleanor Simpson, 66, of 21 Manson Ave., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at York Hospital, York, Maine, after a long illness.
Born April 10, 1933 in Lawrence, Mass., she was the daughter of the late William and Hazel (Ames) Harmon. She had been a resident of Kittery for the past nine years. Violet retired from Dartmouth College as an office manager after five years of service.
She is survived by a son, Robert Simpson; two daughters, Laura Hudson and Katherine Landry; five grandchildren, Rick Jolicoeur, Robert Bishop Jr., Alex Landry, Nicole Landry and Charles Simpson; two brothers, Robert Harmon and Richard Harmon; and a sister, Barbara Harmon. All are from Maine.
Madonna O'Connell
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Madonna Small O'Connell, 85, of 57 Concord Way, were held Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church by Monsignor Lawrence Burns.
Readings were given by her granddaughters, Aimee De Carbo and Michele LaBreck. Burial was in the family lot in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Eliot, with Monsignor Burns conducting the committal.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Richard Morgan, Robert Small, Richard Small, Ryan Small, Brandon Small and Trever Small.
David Woodbury
MEREDITH, N.H. - David Woodbury, 67, of 20 True Road, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Portsmouth after a brief period of illness.
Born June 23, 1932, in Cambridge, Mass., he was the son of the late Robert Woodbury and Helen (Spring) Woodbury.
He was a Navy veteran.
In addition to his mother, survivors include one son, Michael Woodbury; one brother, Robert Woodbury of Portsmouth; and one sister, Meredith Fener of Kittery.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
Shirley V. Goode
YORK - Shirley Victoria Goode, 80, of Sheru Lane, and formerly of Waltham, Mass., died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at York Hospital.
Born Nov. 11, 1999, in Lowell, Mass., she was the daughter of Richard and Marion (Day) Ryan. She attended local schools.
For 20 years, she worked as a sales associate for Jordan's Furniture Store in Waltham, Mass., retiring in 1985. She also worked at the Waltham Watch Factory in Waltham, Mass., and was an appliance manager at Park Snows in Waltham.
For more than 50 years, she was a member of the Immanuel Methodist Church in Waltham, and was very active in church activities.
In April, she and her husband moved to York from Waltham, where they had lived for more than 50 years.
She loved animals, especially her Maine coon cat "Pugsley." She also enjoyed strolling along the beach, collecting sea glass, and entertaining family and friends at their summer home at York Beach.
She was the wife of Walter F. Goode for 57 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Joanne P. and her husband, Edward Coite, and Judith M. Goode, all of York; one brother, Charles Ryan of Framingham, Mass.; one sister Althea Bishop of Bedford, Mass.; two grandchildren, Melissa and her husband, Dale Moulton, of Cape Neddick, and Ryan Coite of York; several nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Alfred Ryan, and a sister, Evelyn "Betty" Adams.
Harry W. Moulton
KITTERY - Harry W. Moulton, 81, of Dismukes Street, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center, Boston.
Born Feb. 19, 1918, in Kittery, he was the son of Nelson and Marion (Seaward) Moulton, and attended local schools.
He was a pilot for the Army Air Corps, the Air Force during World War II, and The Korean Conflict.
After his military service, he worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a shipwright/dockmaster, retiring at age 55.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the 381st Bombers Memorial Association.
An outdoorsman, flying was a very important part of his life. His family was the most important part of his life.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Czarnecki) Moulton.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl C. Smith of Eliot, and Cynthia Moulton-Krug and her husband, Walter G., of West Newbury, Mass.; two brothers, Joseph Moulton and Nelson Moulton, both of Kittery; two sisters, Arlene Radford of Rye and Charlotte Reinfus of Largo, Fla.; grandchildren Michelle Nay and her husband, Michael, and Elias and Alexander Gallup; and three great-grandsons.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert, Virginia Borkoquist, Mildred Miller, Stanley and Charles.
Richard D. Weeks Sr.
WINCHESTER, N.H. - Richard Dawson Weeks Sr., 72, of 10 Woodard Ave., died Tuesday, Oct 19, 1999, at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene.
Born Feb. 16, 1927, in Marlboro, Mass., he was the son of Harold D. and Dorothy E. (Burnham) Weeks. A former resident of Eliot, he lived in Winchester, N.H., for the past five years. He attended schools in Hampton and was a graduate of Hampton Academy.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps.
For more than 20 years, he was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
He was a member of the Winchester Historical Society and attended the United Church of Winchester.
He was the husband of Mary Bernard for 43 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Richard D. Weeks Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C., and Dennis P. Weeks Sr. in Louisiana; three daughters, Kathlyn M. Buckley of Hinsdale, N.H., Melissa Anne Weeks of Portsmouth, and Deborah J. Marshall of Eliot; two brothers, Robert Weeks of St. Charles, Mo., and Alan Weeks of Hampton; a sister, Dorothy Lumbert of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the guardian of two grandchildren, Dennis P. Weeks Jr.and Tiffany N. Weeks of Winchester.
Katy M. Cobb
PORTSMOUTH - Katy M. Cobb, 90, of 188 Jones Ave., died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at the Sunbridge Nursing Home.
Born June 17, 1909, in Newburyport, Mass., she was the daughter of Wallis and Bertha (Little) Currier. She attended Newburyport and Boston schools. For the past 47 years, she was a resident of Portsmouth.
She was the wife of Nathan S. Cobb of Portsmouth.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Gordon B. of Portsmouth and Chester A. of Clovis, N.M.; and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Walter N. Cobb, in 1983.
Stanley P. Babula
ROCHESTER, N.H. - Stanley P. Babula, 76, of Wallace Road, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H.
Born Jan. 18, 1923, in Portsmouth, he was the son of Paul and Caroline (Archy) Babula. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Portsmouth High School.
He was the owner of Babula's Restaurant in Rochester for many years.
An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include three sons, Robert A. Babula of Newfields, Wesley F. Babula of Farmington, Maine, and Stanley P. Babula of Exeter; five grandchildren, Melissa, Kimberly, Bryan, Bracken and Dayla Babula; two sisters, Mary Jane Tosi of Rye and Julia Rutter of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
