Helen L. Shine
HAMPTON - The funeral for Helen L. Shine, 84, of 95B Winnacunnet Road, was held Monday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. The Rev. George E. Ham, pastor, was celebrant. Nelson K. Ward was organist and Patricia Mackensen was soloist. Acolytes were Pete Casavant, Rodolphe Begin and Thomas Gillick. The pall was placed on the casket by Patricia J. Morgan and Carol L. Simard, daughters of the deceased.
The readings were offered by her sons-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" Bateman and Duffy Morgan. The gifts were presented to the altar by her granddaughters. Words of remembrance were offered by her niece.
Burial followed in High Street Cemetery, with the committal service conducted by the Rev. Ham. Pallbearers were Brian Kelley, Neil Kelley, Jeff Kelley, Robert Morgan, Patrick Bateman and Thomas Crockett.
Edward C. Sharkey
PORTSMOUTH - A memorial Mass for Edward C. Sharkey was celebrated Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at the Miraculous Medal Church by the Rev. Michael Griffin. Organist was Patricia Mackenson and soloist was Nelson Ward. Burial was in Taunton Catholic Cemetery, Taunton, Mass., where his sister, Margaret Sharkey, resides.
Beatrice R. Allen
YORK HARBOR - Beatrice R. Allen, 75, of 7 Norwood Circle, formerly a 35-year resident of Rye Beach, and Prescott, Ariz., died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at York Hospital.
She was born July 4, 1924, in Reading, Mass.
During World War II, she served in the Coast Guard.
Active in local art groups, she also enjoyed hiking, reading, bridge and golf.
She was the wife of Russell C. Allen for 53 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include six children, Laurie A. Carlock of San Diego, Calif., Andrea H. Krofina of Trumbull, Conn., Christopher M. Allen of North Woodstock, N.H., Eric Allen of North Hampton, Mark Allen of Rye, and Peter W. Allen of North Hampton; five grandchildren; a brother, Allan Ruderman of Duxbury, Mass.; and two sisters, Marion Sileo of Lake Placid, N.Y., and Nancy Theoming of High Springs, Fla.
Barbara A. Perricone
DURHAM - Barbara A. Perricone, 73, of Packers Falls Road, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at Exeter Hospital.
Born Oct. 15, 1926, in Nieborow, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Stanislas and Michalina Wiktorek. For many years, she lived in Arizona and Kansas. She moved to Durham a year ago.
A homemaker, she enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles.
She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Perricone.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sylvia St. Jean and Robert of Stratham; six grandchildren; three sisters, Emily, Helen and Maria, all of Poland; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Perricone of Arizona.
She was predeceased by a son, Robert P. Perricone, and a daughter, Victoria J. Freeman.
Victoria B. Fish
NORTH HAMPTON - Victoria B. "Vicki" Fish, 82, of 112 Post Road, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at her home.
Born Dec. 23, 1916, in Everett, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Solon W. and Beatrice M. (Hosking) Cornish. She was a 1934 graduate of Everett Memorial High School.
From 1957 to the early 1970s, she taught piano at the House in the Pines Private Girls School in Norton, Mass. In 1963, she moved from the North Shore of Massachusetts to North Hampton, where she continued teaching private piano lessons.
For the past 20 years, she was the director of music at the United Methodist Church in Hampton.
She was the wife of the late Edwin O. Fish, who died in 1983.
Survivors include a son, Victor G. Snowdon of Atkinson, N.H.; a daughter, Wallis W. Routh of Greenland; two grandchildren, Michelle Snowdon of Bedford, N.H., and Kristin Snowdon of Atkinson, N.H.
She was predeceased by a brother, Ellis Cornish, and a son-in-law, Jack Routh.
Anthony Penta
PENTA - P. Anthony Penta, M.D., 73, of Seabrook Beach, N.H., formerly of Melrose, Mass. Beloved husband of Louise E. (Poisson) Penta. Devoted father of John Penta and his wife, Betsy, of Louisville, Ky., Douglas Penta and his wife, Laureanne, of Boston, and Paul Penta of Seabrook Beach; two daughters, Patricia Duffy and her husband, Mark, of Waban, and Adrienne Penta of Seabrook Beach. Loving brother to Edward Penta of Melrose and the late Maria Cosentino. Also survived by seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Please omit flowers. Marilyn Francois
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Marilyn Margaret (Maxwell) Francois, 54, formerly of Portsmouth, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 3, 1999.
Born in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of John and Rose Maxwell and attended St. Patrick School and Portsmouth High School. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, quilting, gardening, bingo and the holidays and was loving to all her friends.
She was the wife of George "Butch" Francois of Portsmouth.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, LIsa Riccio of Houston, Tex. and Colleen Malloy of Portsmouth; a stepson, George "Butchie" Francois of Portsmouth; six brothers and sisters, Rosemary Santos and her husband, Stephen, of Portsmouth, Glen Maxwell of Peabody, Mass., John "Jay" Maxwell, Tom Maxwell and his wife, Sandy, Brian Maxwell and his wife, Fanchion, and Erin Borden and her husband, Curtis, all of West Palm Beach; and many nieces nephews and friends.
Marilyn and Butch had a wonderful life full of memories of helping friends and trying to make the world a better place to live. God bless to all who knew Marilyn's love.
Eugene A. Gaudet
HAMPTON - Eugene A. Gaudet, 76, of 7 River Walk, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 30, 1923, in Amesbury, Mass., he was the son of the late Alfred and Laura (Boudreau) Gaudet. He grew up and attended schools in Amesbury and was a 1942 graduate of Amesbury High School.
He attended Northeastern College of Pharmacy and worked with his father at the former Gaudet's Pharmacy. A World War II veteran, he served in the Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in the Philippines. He then started a 38-year career in pharmaceutical sales working with the former Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Co. now known as Warner-Lambert Pharmaceuticals.
He was the husband of Lucille (Lemoine) Boudreau Gaudet.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Eugene Gaudet Jr. of Kirkwood, Mo.; three daughters, Patricia Wheeler of Benbrook, Tex., Michelle Edinger of Raleigh, N.C., and Jacqueline Gaudet of Highland Park, N.J.; two stepsons, David Boudreau of Raymond, and Gilbert Boudreau of Hampton; a stepdaughter, Andrea Garand of Seabrook; three brothers, John Gaudet of Honolulu, Norman Gaudet of Newton, Mass and Robert Gaudet of Buzzards Bay, Mass; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Kathleen S. Dibbert
SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - Kathleen Shannon Dibbert, 78, died Oct. 17, 1999 in San Antonio, Tex. Kathleen was born and raise in Portsmouth.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Anne and her husband, Larry B. Salz of Plano, Tex. and Rosemary D. and John D. Duke Jr. of Angleton, Tex.; three sisters, Rosemary Connelly of Stratham, Olive Teifert of Kittery and Adrienne Bauer of Portsmouth; her grandchildren, Sean D. Salz, Amy M. Salz, John D. Duke III and Christopher S. Duke. A funeral was held at St. John Neuman Catholic Church with graveside services Oct. 17, 1999, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Anne Marie Duffy
PORTSMOUTH - Anne Marie Duffy, 61, of 172 Ocean Road, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a period of failing health.
Born Dec. 10, 1937, in Somerville, Mass., she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (DeYoung) Benoit. She was a 1955 graduate of Notre Dame de Pitie in North Cambridge. She had been a resident of Portsmouth for the past 27 years. She was a member of St. James Church and had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
She was the wife of retired Air Force Sgt. John J. Duffy.
In addition to her husband, survivors include four children, Kathleen Duffy, Mark Duffy and Donna Duffy, all of Portsmouth and Diane Duffy of Dover; four grandchildren, Michael, Marline, Ceara and Eilise; seven brothers and sisters from the Boston area; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joseph C. D'Agosta Jr.
RAYMOND - Joseph C. D'Agosta Jr., formerly of Wilmington, Mass., died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999.
He was the son of Ann (DePalma) D'Agosta and the late Joseph C. D'Agosta Sr.
He was the husband of Sarah (Meehan).
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Paul of Merrimack, N.H.; a son, Joseph C. D'Agosta III; three stepchildren, Michael Saunders of Nashua, and Daniel and Julie Saunders, both of Raymond; a brother, Louis of Somerville, Mass.; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Carolyn Carideo and Madeline Ericksmone.
Beatrice E. Gagner
KITTERY - Beatrice E. Trefethen Gagner, 76, of 313 Route 1, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at her home.
Born Oct. 12, 1923, in Wareham, Mass., she was the daughter of the late James B. and Mabel Trefethen. She was a 1942 graduate of Wareham High School.
Beatrice and her husband, Raymond Gagner, opened the first Weathervane seafood restaurant in Falmouth, Mass. in 1967. In 1969, they moved to Kittery and opened a Weathervane there as well. In 1978, she retired at served on the board of directors.
The Gagners retired to Sarasota, Fla. where Beatrice enjoyed fishing and walking Siesta Key Beach.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her sister, Ella Trefethen Cobb of Reddington, N.J.; four sons, Donald Gagner of Wolfeboro, N.H. and Oshak, Japan, Richard Gagner of Sagamore Beach, Mass., Raymond Gagner Jr. of Eliot, and Terry Gagner of Kittery; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Barbara A. Perricone
DURHAM - The funeral for Barbara A. Perricone, 73, of 92 Packers Falls Road was held Monday at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter. Services were held in the Stratham Community Church. The Rev. Dr. J. Jermain Bodine, pastor, officiated. Burial followed in the Maple Lane Cemetery, Stratham, with committal prayers by the Rev. Bodine. Pallbearers were Robert St. Jean and Raymond Elway.
Richard R. Peterson
PORTSMOUTH - Richard R. Peterson, 62, of 6 Rockaway St., died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999.
Born March 21, 1937, in Lewiston, Maine, he was the son of Irene M.(Mahoney) Peterson of Portsmouth and the late Roy D. Peterson.
He attended local schools and was a 1955 graduate from Portsmouth High School.
He served in the Army as a paratrooper stationed in Germany.
He was formerly employed by the family business, the William E. Dennett Co. in Portsmouth.
Survivors include his mother; two sons, Michael Peterson and Roy "Pete" Peterson, both of Hampton; his former wife and dear friend, Mimi Peterson of Hampton; two grandchildren, Erica and Ricky Peterson, both of Hampton; three brothers, Robert Peterson of Greenland, Royce Peterson of South Berwick and Gary Peterson of Portsmouth; a sister, Glennis Little of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
Stephen J. Scheier Jr.
YORK - Stephen Joseph Scheier Jr., 90, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at his home.
Born July 27, 1909, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Mary Zima-Scheier and Stephen Joseph Scheier Sr. He lived in Flemington, N.J. and Toms River N.J., before moving to York in January 1991.
He was a communicant of St. Christopher Church in York.
He was the husband of Katherine May (Schlapfer) Scheier of York for 54 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Nancy Ordermann and her husband, Rick, of York, and Bonnie Scheier-DiPasquale and her fiance, John, of Brick, N.J.; a grandson, Ricky Ordermann; three brothers, William Scheier of Harwich, Mass., Frank Scheier of Glen Gardner, N.J., and Michael Scheier of Flemington; and two sisters, Ann Paeida of Flemington and Mary Rolland of Newark.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Gus, Joseph, George, Paul and John; and a sister, Helen.
Martha J. Andrews
KITTERY - Martha Jacques Andrews, of Martin Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999 in her home surrounded by her family.
Born Aug. 31, 1932, in Dover, N.H., she was the daughter of Ludger and Sophie Jacques. She attended Catholic schools and graduated from St. Mary's in Dover in 1951. She was employed at the University of New Hampshire and Foster's Daily Democrat until her 1955 marriage to Clayton E. Andrews of Searsport, Maine. They were married for 24 years.
The Andrews lived in many towns in Maine and in Messina, N.Y. and loved to fish and dance. They raised their three children in Kittery and were active parts of their lives.
An avid bowler, she was recently a team member of the "Merry Mixers" of the Bowl-a_Rama in Portsmouth. She also enjoyed crafts, collecting Beanie Babies, country music baseball and the Internet.
Survivors include a sister, Rita Hale of Rochester, N.H.; three children, Mike Andrews of Owls Head, Maine, Beverly ANdrews of Kittery and Hickory, N.C. and Michelle Andrews-Mau and her husband, Harry Mau, his son, Chris and their daughters, Alyssa and Jessie, of Dover; and many other relatives.
In addition to her husband, who died in 1979, she was predeceased by a sister, Gert Jalbert and four brothers, William, Maurice, Gerard and George Jacques.
