Edward F. Barron
CALABASH, N.C. - Funeral services for Edward F. "Eddie" Barron, 86, of 185 Beachwood Drive, NW, were held Monday at the Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at St. James Church, Portsmouth. The Rev. Agapit H. Jean Jr., pastor, officiated. Readings were given by Brbara Morin. Presentation of the gifts by Barbara and Elaine Morin. Altar servers were Theresa Hickey, Joanne Green and Richard Ward. Jane Milette was the crossbearer. Janet Green was soloist and Jean Goss was organist.
In attendance were communicants of the church.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth, with committal services by the Rev. Jean.
Pallbearers were Ramon I., Ramon M. and Richard LEvesque and John Barron.
Honorary pallbearers were Jack, Thomas and Richard Barron.
The American flag that draped the casket was folded and presented to Mr. Barron's widow, Barbara (Levesque) Barron.
Wake services were held Sunday evening at the Buckminster Chapel by the Rev. Jean.
Winston G. Proctor
RENO, Nev. - Winston Grant Proctor, 68, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999.
Born Jan. 19, 1930, he attended Portsmouth schools and graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1949.
A member of the Desert Research Institute connected to the University of Nevada at Reno, he was an active participant in barbershop singing groups in the area. He served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He was the husband of Janice Proctor of Reno.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Dennis, of Fort Collins, Colo.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Carolynne Williams of Sparks, Nev. and Mildred Dankert of Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Fred and Editha Proctor.
Kimberly A. Rowell
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Kimberly Ann (Werkelin) Rowell, 21, of 75 Longmeadow Road, were held Wednesday at the Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth, with memorial services held at the Bethany Congregational Christian Church in Rye. The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Dietrich, pastor, officiated. Soloist was Karen Cameron and Jan Stover was organist.
In attendance were representatives from Betty's Dream in Portsmouth, Crotched Mountain Community Care, Great Bay Services, Order of Eastern Star No. 54 of Portsmouth, Portsmouth Rainbow No. 2 and York Assembly No. 23.
Burial was in Central Cemetery, Rye, with committal services by the Rev. Dr. Dietrich.
Arthur H. Rogers
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Arthur H. Rogers, 82, of 263 Rockland St., were held MOnday at the Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth. The Rev. Trace Browning, assistant rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, officiated.
In attendance were members of the church and of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Burial was in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, with committal services by the Rev. Browning.
Mae Drew
EXETER - Mae (Bryce) Drew, 89, of 4 Alumni Drive, and formerly of Woodbury Avenue, Portsmouth, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Exeter Healthcare.
Born March 7, 1910, in York, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Bessie (Thompson) Bryce. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and attended the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth.
She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Drew.
Survivors include a son, Barry M. Drew of Eliot; a daughter, Sheila D. Nowak of Chatham, Mass., seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Drew.
Dennis Goolsby
RYE - Dennis Goosby, 47, of 33 Sagamore Road, died Dec. 6, 1999, at the Veteran Medical Center, Manchester, after a short period of illness.
Born Oct. 11, 1952, in Peabody, Mass., he was the son of the late George and Anne (Filfalt) Goolsby. He was an Air Force veteran from 1971 to 1975.
He was a heavy-equipment operator for Fease Builder.
Family members include a daughter, Patrice Goolsby of Maine, his father of Peabody; a grandson; two brothers, Timothy G. Goolsby of Peabody and Douglas E. Goolsby of Gloucester, Mass.; a sister, Shiela M. Goolsby, of Haverhill, Mass.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be private.
Hobart E. Seaward
KITTERY - Retired Lt. Cmdr. Hobart Eastman Seaward, 72, of 91 Whipple Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at his home with his family by his side.
Born Aug. 20, 1927, in Kittery Point, he was the son of Benjamin E. and Ellen S. Blake Seaward. He attended Kittery schools, graduated from Robert W. Traip Academy and was senior class president.
Entering the service as a seaman, he served in the Navy for 23 years, during which time he achieved the rank of lieutenant commander. He retired in 1967, after which he continued his education while serving in various capacities and duties. Most of his naval career was spent as a submariner on many different fleet boats. His last tour of duty was at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. During his career he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, American Area World War II Victory and the Good Conduct Medal 3rd Award.
After his honorable discharge, Hobart joined the George D. Boulter Ins. & Oil Co., of which he became president and later became a lobsterman. Throughout his life, he was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman.
Cmdr. Seaward was a member of the Naval Lodge No. 184 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Portland, the Consistory Valley or Portland 32nd Degree, York County Shrine Club, Kora Temple Shrine, Sportsman Alliance of Maine and the National Rifle Association. He was also a life member of Sub Veterans World War II and U.S. Sub Veterans Inc.
He was the husband of Ernestine Kittell Hatto.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Gail and her husband, David Burton, of Kittery; his son, David and his wife, Karen Seaward, of Mechanicsville, Va.; his stepson, Michael Hatto and his wife, Lori Chace of Amston, Conn.; his five grandchildren, Benjamin David, Ryan Eastman and Caitlin Nicole Seaward and Shawn Hobart and Rikki Lyn Burton; three sisters, Cora M. Bridges of Kittery Point, Alice M. and her husband, Ralph Tobey of Kittery Point, Barbara E. and her husband, Charles Goodale, of Cape Elizabeth; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
David L. Fernald
COATESVILLE, Pa. - David L. Fernald died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at his home.
Born in Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Leroy P. and Barbara (Clapp) Fernald.
A computer programmer, he was employed by Comcast. He also worked for Honeywell for 10 years and Colonial Penn Insurance Co. for 15 years. He was very active in his community and was involved in West Bradford Youth Athletics, where he coached various soccer, basketball and hockey teams, for over 10 years.
David was a member of the East Brandywine Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and was on the board of Christian Education, for the past 22 years. He sang in the senior choir and was a Praise Team leader for several years. David was a former Sunday School teacher and youth advisor. He also loved to hunt and golf.
He was the husband of Joyce (Schwenzfeier) Fernald for 34 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Jennifer D. Dunn of Phoenixville, Pa. and Brian D. Fernald of Coatesville; a granddaughter, Cassidy Rose Dunn; three sisters, Donna Ahern of Rochester, Debra Pirini of Wells and Diane Couture of Barrington.
Mildred E. LaForge
WOODLAND, Calif. - Mildred E. LaForge, 73, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at her residence.
Born Feb. 22, 1926, in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Mildred (Reynolds) Quinn.
A graduate of Hampton Academy, she worked at the former Hytron Company in Newburyport, Mass. She moved to Woodland over 30 years ago from Hampton and was employed by Mobil Chemical for 25 years.
Survivors include two sisters, Barbara Martell of Kittery Point, and Kathleen Job of Ridgeville, S.C.; a brother, Robert Quinn of Key West, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Edith S. Rollins
KITTERY - Mrs. Edith Shirley Rollins, 81, of 2 Stevenson Road, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at York Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past 10 days.
Born Nov. 1, 1918, in York, she was the daughter of Joseph B. and Gertrude Shaw Goodwin. She was educated in the Amesbury, Mass., schools, and attended Eliot High School.
A fancy stitcher, she worked in Newmarket.
She was a member of the Eliot United Methodist Church and the York Golf & Tennis Club.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her children and grandchildren.
She was the wife of Harold J. Rollins Sr. of Kittery, whom she married Dec. 6, 1935.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Constance) Lombardi of Quincy, Mass.; two sons, Harold J. (Jerry) Rollins Jr. of Yokosuka, Japan, and Conrad D. Rollins and his wife, Vicki, of Abbot, Maine; six grandchildren, Craig B. Rollins, Michelle Rollins, Conrad Rollins Jr., Mrs. Michael (Vicki) O'Brien, Richard Lombardi Jr. and Michael Lombardi; four great-grandchildren, Trevor and Morgan Stuart-Rollins, and Kyle and Dayna O'Brien; a brother, Eugene Goodwin and his wife, Dolly, of Kittery; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Jones, and three brothers, Carl, Bradford and Robert Goodwin.
Anne Marie Duffy
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Anne Marie Duffy, 61, of 172 Ocean Road, were held Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999. A Mass of Christian burial was co-celebrated at St. James Church by the Rev. Agapit Jean and the Rev. Edward Kelley. Lector was Jackie Pitts. Acolytes were Richard Ward, Joanne Green, Theresa Hickey and Jane Milette. Organist was Jean Goss and soloist was Janet Green. A special tribute was sung by Paulette Dubois, accompanied by Allan Schwinn. Pallbearers were Daniel Moore, Jeffrey Scott, Michael Sullivan, and her brother, Andrew Benoit.
Edward G. Christoph
BRENTWOOD - Edward G. Christoph, 81, of Brentwood, and formerly of East Greenwich, R.I., died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.
Born March 18, 1918, in Cranston, R.I., he was the son of the late Frank H. and Marie (Leschke) Christoph Sr. He lived most of his life in East Greenwich, R.I., and was a graduate of Nelson W. Aldrich High School. He moved to Brentwood in 1997.
For many years, he worked at South County Hospital in Wakefield, R.I. He was an auxiliary State Police trooper in Rhode Island.
He was a former communicant of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Providence, R.I.
He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts, and was an active gardener, history buff, and a lover of antiques.
Survivors include a son, George H. Christoph of East Hartford, Conn.; a foster son, Richard H. Dantone of East Greenwich, R.I., a daughter, Evelyn M. Christoph of Exeter; five grandchildren; a foster grandchild; and a brother, Henry Christoph of Cape May, N.J.
Robert B. Mcintire
MCINTIRE - Robert B., of 54 Ridge Road, York, died Dec. 5, 1999. Funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First Parish Congregational Church of York, York Street, York. Interment in First Parish Cemetery. After the services, a reception will be held at the Masonic Hall. Visiting hours 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York. Family flowers only. Angelina W. Kennedy
HAMPTON - The funeral for Angelina W. Kennedy, 84, of 1 Central Road, Rye, was held Saturday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Theresa Church. The Rev. Maurice Lavigne, pastor, was celebrant. Salvatore DiVincenzo was acolyte. Judith Kish was organist and pianist, and Mary Louise Arcidi was soloist and cantor.
The pall was placed on the casket by her daughter, Karolyn K. Pescosolido, and son Frank P. Kennedy. The readings were offered and the gifts were presented to the altar by her grandchildren, Kate, John and Meg Kennedy, and Nick, Angie and Betsy Pescosolido.
Words of remembrance were offered by daughter-in-law Kathleen Kennedy. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dover, with the rite of committal conducted by the Rev. Lavigne. Pallbearers were Frank P. Kennedy, Tony Pescosolido, Nick Pescosolido and John Kennedy. Photo remembrances were captured by D. Murphy.
Allison M. Leverone
HAMPTON BEACH - Allison M. Leverone, 13, of 461 Ocean Blvd., died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
Born Feb. 3, 1986, in Malden, Mass., she was the daughter of Stephen A. and Joan M. (Fitzgerald) Leverone of Hampton Beach. She was a student at Hampton Academy Junior High School, where she played soccer, basketball and softball. She was the editor of the Academy Times, the school newspaper.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and a member of the children's choir. She enjoyed acting and performed in plays at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre in Portsmouth.
In addition to her parents, survivors include two brothers, Stephen A. Leverone Jr. and Jonathan M. Leverone, both of Hampton Beach; a sister, Emily M. Leverone of Hampton Beach; her maternal grandmother, Margaret E. Fitzgerald of Winchester, Mass.; her paternal grandparents, Anthony L. and Margaret M. Leverone of Wilmington, Mass.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
M. Louise Goss
NORTH HAMPTON - M. Louise Goss, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Born Dec. 19, 1910, in North Hampton, she was the daughter of the late Asa A. and Emma (Brown) Booker. She was a graduate of Centennial High School and a 1928 graduate of the Robinson Female Seminary in Exeter. She was a lifelong resident of North Hampton.
She worked as a correspondent for the Portsmouth Herald, covering the town of North Hampton for a number of years, and was the person who had the vision of restoring the Centennial Hall School.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ, the Ladies Union of the church, and of the Bush and Bud Garden Club, all of North Hampton.
She was the wife of the late Richard I. Goss, who died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn G. Brooks of North Hampton, two grandchildren, Lee G. Brooks of North Hampton, and Susan Brooks of Hampton; a sister, Virginia Booker of Concord; a nephew and three nieces.
