Evelyn A. Sieja, age 85 years, died at the home of her son, Gordon Sieja, Thursday morning, February 4, 1999. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday at 9:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Members of St. Stan's Senior Citizens Club, Rosary Society, and Felician Sisters Auxiliary will pray the Rosary Friday at 2:00 PM in the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Bay Area. Visiting hours are Friday from 2:00 to 8:30 PM, with the Vigil Wake Service Friday at 7:30 PM in the W.A. Trahan Funeral Chapel. W. A.

Sieja, Evelyn A. "Toots" (Janowicz)

Evelyn A. Sieja, age 85 years, died at the home of her son, Gordon Sieja, Thursday morning, February 4, 1999. She was born to John D. and Sarah (Woloshyk) Janowicz on May 17, 1913 in Bay City, where she resided all her life. Before her retirement, Evelyn was an inspector at Vacart's. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, its Senior Citizen Club and Rosary-Altar Sodality, Felician Sisters Auxiliary, St. Theresa Society, and the League of Catholic Women and Men. She was also a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish. On September 21, 1936, Evelyn married Stanley J. Sieja in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1997. Surviving family members include three children, Barbara (Schuyler) Cox of Grayling, and Gordon J. (Jacque) Sieja and Marilyn (Jack) Schroeder of Bay City; eight grandchildren: Jason (Carole) Cox, Kyle Cox, Keith Sieja, Kimberly (Richard) Roberts, Amy (Thomas) Brooks, Jon (Lisa) Schroeder, Marc Schroeder, and Sara Schroeder; seven great-grandchildren: Wyatt Cox, Amber, Jessica, Morgan, and Jacob Roberts, Brandon, and Rachel Brooks; two sisters-in-law, Marie and Lydia Janowicz; along with several nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by five brothers and one sister. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, February 6, 1999 at 9:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Evelyn will lie in state in church Saturday after 8:30 a.m. Rev. William J. Rutkowski will preside and intermenty will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Bay Area. Cormier, Thelma Curtis
Charlevoix, Michigan Formerly of Bay City
Thelma Curtis Cormier, age 88 years, a longtime Bay City resident, died suddenly on Wednesday, February 3, 1999 in Charlevoix, Michigan. Mrs. Cormier has been living at the Boulder Park Terrace nursing home in Charlevoix. She was born in Cadillac on August 12, 1910, the daughter of Claud Wesley and Sara Downey Curtis. After graduating from Marygrove College of Detroit, she married Clayton E. Cormier in 1931. They moved to Bay City where Mr. Cormier owned the Credit Bureau of Bay City. Mrs. Cormier was active for many years with charitable and religious organizations. She served on the boards of the League of Catholic Women, the Rachel Sovereign Women's Home and the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary Board. Mrs. Cormier was an enthusiastic gardener and keen golfer at the Bay City Country Club. Before Mr. Cormier died in August of 1970, they spent their winters at their Ft. Lauderdale, Florida home. Later in her life, Mrs. Cormier traveled extensively and pursued her interests in arts and crafts, the theater and her extended family. Surviving are six children: Clayton P. Cormier of Warren, Vermont; Claudette Bowden of Essexville; Curtis A. (Lilly) Cormier of Farmington Hills; Mark E. (Pat) Cormier of Bay City; Michael J. (Linda) Cormier of Carp Lake; Kathy (Tony) Tucci of Austin, Texas; nineteen grandchildren; five step- grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cormier is predeceased by two grandchildren: Davis Cormier and Barbie Goddyene. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in Holy Trinity Church. Rev. Fr. Michael G. Dunckel will preside. The Rite of Committal will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. The Parish Wake Service will be Friday evening at 7 o'clock. Friends may call at Stapish West on Friday between the hours of 3 and 9 o'clock. Memorials are available at he funeral home for Marygrove College and Holy Trinity School Endowment Fund. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Saturday, February 6, 1999 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. William J. Rutkowski officating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. There will be a Parish Wake Service at 7:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 9 P.M. and at the church on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until time of Funeral Mass. Kleinert, Kenneth John Sr.
Bay City, Michigan
Mr. Kleinert, age 57 years, passed away Wednesday evening, February 3, 1999 at his home after a 9 month battle with asbestos cancer. Kenneth was born March 5, 1941 in Bay City and has resided here most of his life. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. Kenneth worked as a machine repair machinist at GM Powertrain since 1976. He loved his hobby of taxidermy and was a longtime member of the Michigan Taxidermist Association, serving on the board for 6 years. Kenneth enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Kenneth is survived by his wife Dolores (Dee) Kleinert whom he married January 30th, 1960. Also surviving are 2 children, Keith (Mary) Kleinert of Roscommon and Kathryn (Bob) Jackson of Bay City; his father, Erwin Kleinert and his special friend Romaine Birch of Bay City; 2 daughters-in-law, Karen Kleinert of Pinconning and Valerie Kleinert of Oscoda; 11 grandchildren, Michael and Kellie Kleinert and their mother, Marlene O'Hare, Alan, Amy, Karrie and Alex Klienert, Perry Findley, Karen and Matt Jackson, Larry and Shawn Preston; a brother, Tom D. (Mary) Kleinert of Auburn; a sister Carol Urbaniak of Bay City; 1 aunt, Norma Hollandmortz of Bay City; 1 uncle, Fred Retzloff of Taylor, MI; 2 brothers-in-law, Jerome Soufflet of Duluth, Minnesota and Fred D. Fogelsinger of Bay City; 1 sister- in-law, Beatrice (Manny) Siqueiros of Fallon, NV. He also leaves many nieces & nephews. Kenneth was predeceased by his mother Mary Kleinert in 1992 and 2 sons, Kevin T. in 1989 and Kenneth J. Jr. in 1998. Kenneth was truly blessed with many special friends. His kindness, generosity and especially his delightful humor will be greatly missed. The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be celebrated Monday, February 8, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert Meissner with private intermenty in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc., on Saturday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Parish Wake Service will take place Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Maes, age 86 years, passed away Thursday, February 4, 1999 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Caro on February 3, 1913. He was a veteran and was retired from G.M. Powertrain in 1975. He is survived by 2 sons: James (Delores) Maes of Bentley and Ken Maes of Kawkawlin; a brother, Carl (Dorothy) Maes of Kawkawlin; grandchildren: Randall Maes, Lori Howard, Jamie Kiersley, Janie Burgess, and Marie Dobias; great- grandchildren: Chad, Lisa, April, and Steven. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie and brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 6, 1999 at 1 P.M. from Rivertown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Marc Meulman presiding with inurnment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Mr. Ott passed away Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at the Veterans Medical Center in Detroit. Age 95 years. He was born September 15, 1903 in Kawkawlin, Michigan. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Harold and Hulda Ott of Indianapolis, IN and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Emma, his father, Adam and five brothers: Gustav, Theodore, Alwin, Rudolph and Herbert Ott and two sisters: Pauline Campbell and Lydia Ott. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Saturday, February 6, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Carter Preston. Military Services will be conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council at the funeral home with private intermenty in Elm Lawn Park Cemetery. Mrs. Nellett, age 91 years, passed away February 4, 1999 at Bay Medical Center with her loving family at her side. To know her was to love her. She was born in Bay City on August 29, 1907 to John and Louise (Elhert) Heidler. she married Norris Nellett on March 15, 1925 and he passed away September 28, 1973. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She will be sadly missed by her son and daughter Richard J. (Shirley) Nellett of Bay City and Beverly J. Cowan and friend Ed Post of Bay City; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a former son-in- law Charles Cowan, and sisters Evelyn Woodard of Bay City and Ruth Dingman of Saginaw. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by 2 sons and daughters-in- law: Norris and Doris Nellett Jr. and Harold and Arlene Nellett; a grandson James Nellett and 2 sisters Louise Stasinowsky and Lillian Klender. Funeral Service will be Monday at 2 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Leslie D. Tyvela and Vicar Steven Maske will officiate. Burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to the Immanuel 140th Anniversary Fund or Bay Medical Foundation- Cardiac Unit. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 6 to 9 PM and sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Penzien & Steele Funeral Home. She will lie in state at the Church on Monday from 1 PM until service time.
