Schram, James A.

James A. Schram, age 55 years, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 6, 1999 at Bay Medical Center. He was born on October 31, 1943 to Albert and Alice (Christian) Schram. He was married to the former Marilou Phelps on June 30, 1962 in Bay City. He was employed by General Motors Powertrain for thirty-one years. Mr. Schram was a member of the Moose Lodge #169 of Bay City, Eagles Aerie #1010 and Outdoor Adventure Club. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and softball. He is survived by his wife Marilou, three children, Billy (Julia) Schram, James Schram, Jr, Ken Schram and his fiancee Lisa Sturdevan all of Bay City; two grandchildren, Drew Brady Schram and Jesse Burgess, his parents Alice and Albert Schram of Bay City; seven brothers and sisters, Richard (Linda) Schram, Linda (Jerry) Boks, Kathy (Jim) Jackson, Mary Jo (Mike) O'Laughlin, Gordon (Sue) Schram, Jeanne Schram, Brenda (Jerry) Sailor and several nieces and nephews. His sister Pattie Boks preceded him in death. There will be a memorial service at 7 o'clock Tuesday evening February 9, 1999 at Stapish West. Rev. Mark E. Haines of the Wesleyan Church will officiate. Friends may call at Stapish West on Tuesday evening from 6 o'clock until the time of service. Schultz, Willie Belle

Mrs. Schultz, age 73 years, passed away February 6, 1999 at her home. She was born in Senith, MO on October 22, 1925 to the late William and Jossie (Scott) Bone. She married Harry I. Schultz and he preceded her in death on July 22, 1988. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, where she worked as a dietician. She is survived by three children: Larry (Lois) Young of Flint, William Schultz of Atlanta and Kevin (Bobbie) Schultz of Bay City; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen V. Shears in 1987. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Penzien & Steele Funeral Home. Interment will be in Wilbur Twp. Cemetery. Kolb, Theodore "Ted" J.

Mr. Kolb, age 32 years, a meat cutter, of Hale, died Sunday, February 7, 1999 in Manistique. He was born on March 7, 1966 in Saginaw to James & Beverly (DePotty) Kolb. He was a member of the Hale Sunday Night Pool League. He is survived by his son, T.J. Kolb of Hale; father, James Kolb of Hale; mother, Joahan Kolb of Hale; brothers: Daniel Kolb of Hale, Matthew (Lynn) Denome of Millington; sisters: Lee McCloud of Vassar and Shelly (Russ) Kime of Vassar. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Beverly Kolb. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 9, 1999 from 7 to 9 P.M. and Wednesday, February 10, 1999 from 2 to 9:00 P.M. at the Frizzell Funeral Home in Hale, MI. Services will be held on Thursday, February 11, 1999 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Laeder officiating. Interment will be in the Oakgrove Cemetery in South Branch, MI. Members of St. Stanislaus Parish will pray the Rosary Tuesday at 4 P.M. and the Vigil Wake Service will be Tuesday at 7:30 P.M. both in the Trahan Chapel. Luczak, Jean C. "Butch"
Essexville, Michigan
Jean Clement "Butch" Luczak, age 73 years, died at his home Monday morning, February 8, 1999. He was born to Clement J. and Leona M. (Jean) Luczak on December 13, 1925 in Bay City. Butch grew up in the Banks area of Bay City and resided in Essexville most of his married life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving our country during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Before his retirement in 1987, he was employed with the City of Essexville for thirteen years. Butch was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Essexville, Knights of Columbus Fr. VanRooy Council #2740, V.F.W. Post #7053, American Legion Post #18 and was a volunteer at Garber High School as the "popcornman." On June 26, 1948, he married Mary Rose Finn, and she survives him, along with eleven children: Kathleen Dreyer of Essexville, Vincent (Linda) Luczak of Apple Valley, MN, James (Dolores) Luczak of Trenary, Rose Ann (James) Gingrich of Flushing, Michelle (Arthur) Windt of Essexville, Maureen (Mark) Collier of Pinconning, Susan (Donald) Horner of Essexville, Theresa (Robert) Hatfield of Bay City, Bridget (Steven) Jablonski of Essexville, Dr. Richard Luczak of Euless, TX and Marie (Daniel) DeWyse of Bay City; seventeen grandchildren: Jason Dreyer, Heather & Evan Luczak, Jeffrey Gingrich, Craig & Brook Windt, Kyle Collier, Sarah, Donald & Weston Horner, Kimberly, Angela, Katherine & Elizabeth Hatfield, Matthew & Nicole Jablonski, Emma DeWyse, and another grandchild is expected in April; two sisters, Madonna (Gerald) Keyser of Grayling and Mary Ann Dierck of Mio; two brothers, Dr. Gerald (Margaret) Luczak of Saginaw and Thomas (Janis) Luczak of Bay City; his stepmother, Leona Luczak; a stepsister, Marian Anderson; along with many nieces and nephews. he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rev. Fr. Ralph Luczak, C.S.C., a stepbrother, James Erwin, and a son-in-law, James Dreyer. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, February 11, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Essexville. Butch will lie in state in church Thursday after 10:00 A.M. Rev. Dale A. Orlik will preside, cremation will take place, and intermenty of his cremains will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Members of the K of C #2740 will join in the Vigil Wake Service Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. in the funeral chapel. Leo F. Cianek, age 72 years, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 1999 in Bay Medical Center. He was born in Hampton Township on March 15, 1926. Leo was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving our country during WWII. Before his retirement in 1986, he was employed with GMC's Bay City Plant for twenty-seven and a half years. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and the U.A.W. Local #362 Retirees, and loved fishing and woodworking. On May 21, 1960, Leo married Sally Reittenbach in Bridgeport, MI and she survives him, along with a daughter, Kim Mateos and son-in-law, David, and two grandchildren, Alexandrina Jo and Andrew David of Essexville; three brothers and two sisters, Raymond Cianek of Essexville, Harry Cianek of Bay City, Ted (Donna) Cianek of Burt, Genevieve (Stanley) Matuzek of Collingwood, and Julie Jozwiak of Saginaw; a sister-in-law, Harriet Cianek; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Barney, Joseph, and Adolph Cianek. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, February 12, 1999 at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Leo will lie in state in church Friday after 9:00 AM. Rev. Barney Janowicz will preside and intermenty will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Herman, Nellie E.

Mrs. Nellie E. Herman, age 91 years, passed away Monday, February 8, 1999 at Tendercare, Cass City. She was born in Unionville on November 19, 1907 the daughter of Robert and Emily DuFord Neal and remained a lifelong resident. On May 22, 1926 she married John D. Herman. He preceded her in death October 18, 1981. Mrs. Herman was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aide and was an avid gardener. Surviving are a daughter, Helen (John) Prich of Gagetown; a daughter-in-law, Marian Herman of Unionville; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth in 1996, her sisters, Leota Heidt, Edna Haggitt and Mildred Morgan and one great- grandson. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 1 o'clock in the afternoon from St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Rev. Michael S. Allen officiating. Interment will be in Columbia Township Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church or A.C.W. Ambulance. Visitation will be at Unionville Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 12 o'clock noon until 9 o'clock and at the church on Thursday from noon until service time. God took home our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Loretta M. Jonkis, age 76. She left peacefully from her home on Monday, February 8, 1999 following a battle with cancer. She was born November 4, 1922 to Walter and Loretta (Stoddard) Stepanski. Loretta is survived by her husband, Robert Jonkis of Bay City; five children: Catherine (Jonkis) and David Wakefield of Houghton Lake, Bridget Jonkis of Prudenville, Andrew Jonkis of Higgins Lake, Molly Jonkis of Bay City and Philip Jonkis of Higgins Lake; two grandchildren: Travis and Kylea Wakefield of Houghton Lake; a sister, Leota (Frank) Haslip; three brothers: Walter (Maxine) Stepanski, Harvey (Laura) Stepanski and Vaughn (Marge) Stepanski. She was preceded in death by both her parents and a brother, Harold (Ethel) Stepanski. A Memorial Mass for a world class cookie maker will be held Saturday, February 20, 1999 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Joseph Church. A celebratory luncheon will immediately follow at the Village Hall. Leck, Florence N. (Fowler)
Bay City, Michigan
Mrs. Leck died Monday evening, February 8, 1999 at the Bay Shores Nursing Home, age 94 years. Daughter of the late John and Phoebe (Oliver) Conklin was born February 25, 1904 in Rochester, New York. She married Cal E. Fowler who predeceased her in 1954. She then married Bernard Leck. He predeceased her in 1982. Mrs. Leck worked at Merit Shoe Store as a bookkeeper and a cashier before retiring. She was a member of the Eastern Stars. Surviving are two sons and one daughter: William (Nancy) Fowler, Trenton, MI, John "Bruce" Fowler and Carol Perriman, both of Bay City; 17 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Fowler and a son-in-law, Raymond Perriman. Funeral and Committal Service will take place Friday, February 12, 1999 at 10 A.M. from Squires Funeral Home. Mrs. Leck's grandson, Rev. John B. Fowler, will officiate with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Squires Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and on Friday after 9 A.M. Squires Funeral Home 211 N. Henry St.
