Ann Mattal, age 84 years, passed away Monday evening, February 8, 1999 at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper, Saginaw. She was born in Detroit on November 18, 1914. Mrs. Mattal lived most of her lifetime in Arenac County. The former Ann Stirbest was married to Adolph Mattal for many years. He died in 1972. Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Mattal of Alger and Judy Hayes of Kawkawlin; two grandchildren and one sister. Following the wishes of Mrs. Mattal, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service at Stapish West. Corrion, Edward Joseph "Joe"
Auburn, Michigan
Mr. Corrion died early Wednesday morning, February 10, 1999 at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland after a lingering illness, age 65 years. Joe was born March 14, 1933 in Merritt Twp. and has resided in Williams Twp. most of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Auburn K of C #3590, Auburn, UAW Local 668, worked for Defoe Shipbuilders, and Grey Iron Foundry retiring in 1981. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed bowling and traveling and throughout his life, farmed and enjoyed tinkering around in the barn with different inventions. On November 5, 1955 in St. John the Evangelist Church, he married Ila K. Probst, she survives him. Also surviving are six sons: John, Mark, Allan (Toby), Terry, Fred (Michelle) and Joseph; three daughters: Mary (Mike) Burch, Ann Corrion, Maureen (Brian) McCue; 11 grandchildren: Ashley, Bryce, Steven, Marci, Jackie, Renee, Ryan, Elizabeth, Justin, Corey, and Abby; one great-grandchild, Morgan; his mom, Margaret "Blanche" (Jacobs) Corrion; nine brothers and sisters: Elaine (Eugene) Jacobs, Ray (Noreen) Corrion, Lorraine (Richard) McNally, Pat (Richard) Kunkle, Bill (Mary) Corrion, Lois (Richard) Englehardt, Jane (Charles) Collins, Paul (Glenda) Corrion, and Janet Corrion; five sister and one brother-in-laws: Irma and Virginia Probst, Alice Sturtz, Jean Smith, Elsie (Clark) McLaren and Joseph Maillette. Joe was predeceased by his dad, Edward, a son, Chris, a brother, Robert, four brother and one sister-in- laws, Raymond and William Probst, Frank Sturtz, Raymond T. Smith and Donna Maillette. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 13, 1999 from St. Joseph Catholic Church, Auburn. Fr. Thomas E. Sutton and Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Auburn. Joe's family will receive friends at the AUBURN CHAPEL of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 P.M.; on Friday from 2:00-9:00 P.M.; and on Saturday morning Joe will lie in state at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of liturgy. Mrs. Eschenbacher, age 60 years, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at MidMichigan Medical Center, Midland following a short illness. She was born December 2, 1938 in Gladwin County. She married Floyd E. Eschenbacher, Sr. on November 8, 1958 in Rhodes, Michigan. Surviving besides her husband, Floyd, are three sons: Floyd E. Jr. (Debra) Eschenbacher, Saginaw, Michigan; Robert (Donna) Eschenbacher, Morrison, Tennessee; Michael Eschenbacher, Beaverton, Michigan; daughter, Lori Eschenbacher, Beaverton, Michigan; eight grandchildren; a brother, Leo DeLavern, Allegan, Michigan; four sisters: Edith Beierschmitt, Joyce Broihier and Rose Ann Solomon, all of Beaverton, Michigan; Marion Scott, Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Mrs. Paige, age 92, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 1999 at Bay Medical Center following a lingering illness. She was born in Bay County on November 5, 1906 to the late Jay and Elizabeth (Tackman) Corry. She married Howard Paige on February 26, 1928; he preceded her in death in 1968. Pearl was a member of Kawkawlin Community Church, the Womens' Fellowship where she had served as chairman, and was active in the Bay County 4-H. She is survived by her children: Howard and Cecelia Paige of Bay City, Norman and Betty Paige of Arkansas, Marilyn and Raymond Baney and Lyle and Sandra Paige, both of Kawkawlin, Karen and Ernest Brown of Harrison and Barry and Nicolette Paige of Plainwell; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren, and 4 great- great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Mable Schulz of National City, June and Herald Loomis and Dorothy and Cecil Cunningham, both of Bay City and a special friend, Bethel Smith. She was predeceased by her husband, 2 sisters, Hazel Davison and Georgie Jones. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 12, 1999 at 11 AM from the Kawkawlin Community Church with Pastor Robert Fread presiding with burial in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The daughter of the late Leonard and Laura (Niemann) Mueller passed away February 10, 1999 at the home of her daughter in Silverton, TX. Age 85 years. She was born June 12, 1913 in Bay City, MI and has resided here all of her life. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Ladies Guild, graduated from Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and retired from Samaritan Hospital in 1976. Mrs. Pett is survived by one daughter, Leola O'Neal of Silverton, TX; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Patricia Pett of Bay City; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Irvine of Woodville, TX; six grandchildren: Charlotte Pett of Houston, TX, Georgie Pett of Lumberton, TX, Jennifer O'Farrell and her husband, Noel of Bay City, Linda Moore and her husband, John of Fredricksburg, TX, Tracey Shook and her husband, Larry of Bay City and Patrick O'Neal of Silverton, TX; four great-grandchildren: Brandon Yanna, Dylan Shook, Molly Moore and Rebecca Pett and one sister, Helen Wegener of Bay City. On May 29, 1935 she married Norman Pett and he preceded her in death in 1973. She was also predeceased by one son, Charles, in 1969 and one son-in-law, Eldon O'Neal in 1997. Mr. Couture passed away Thursday afternoon February 11, 1999 at Bay Medical Center, age 75 years. He was born September 10, 1923 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, was a member of the VFW McCauley Abrams Post #485 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #169. He is survived by three children; Linda (Michael) Hughes of Sterling Heights, Joseph (Tammy) Couture of Phoenix AZ and Michelle (James) Richardson of Bay City, his daughter-in-law, Cindy Haley; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille (Gerald) Lamblin; three sisters-in-law, Shirley (Cal) Johnston, Kay Voisine and Pauline Couture; several nieces, nephews and many close friends. Mr. Milster, age 76 years, died February 11, 1999 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw. He was born in Bay City on January 24, 1923, the son of the late Arthur and Bertha (Patterson) Milster. He married Marilyn Oldershaw on August 5, 1955 and she preceded his death on December 22, 1995. He was retired from Aerospace America where he was president. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Other memberships include the Michigan State University Alumni Association and Bay City Lodge No. 88 B.P.O.E. He is survived by four children: Marcia (Nick) Aravas of White Lake, MI, Richard (Carole) Milster of Bay City, MI, Scott Milster of Livermore, CA and fiancee Gloria Hamor of San Antonio, TX, and Susan (Patrick) DeWyse of Big Rapids, MI; seven grandchildren: Steven and Michael Aravas, Christine, Marc and Colleen Milster, Adam and Matthew DeWyse; two sisters-in- law, Joan (Warren) Johnson and Jan Milster Holmes; two nephews, Fred and Mike Johnson; a niece Christine Mills and grand niece Marlo Aragon. Died Thursday, February 11, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital, age 81 years. Margaret Spengler was born January 1, 1918 in Beaver Township to the Late George and Minnie (Pacholke) Spengler. She was married to Harold on January 28, 1939. She and Harold enjoyed 56 years together before his death on September 6, 1995. Margaret had been employed by Zehnder's of Frankenmuth for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, enjoyed gardening and traveling. She also enjoyed her grandchildren. Surviving are one son and four daughters: Sharon & Russell VanPatten, Melvin & Elizabeth Riess, Marilyn Patrick, Audrey & Manny Bottine, Judy & Ronald Bickel; eight grandchildren: Darren, Brian, Stacy, Wendy, Kristal, Rebecca, Meredith, and Maria; one great-granddaughter Sasha; three sisters and one brother: Clara Jammer, Erna Walter, Marie Mosher, Nelson Spengler, and many nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, and one brother: Wilma, Doris, and Earl Spengler.
