Soderman, (Charron) Diane

Diane Charron Soderman, of Cedarville died suddenly while on a nursing assignment in California. Her death on December 18 left her husband, sons and family members in grief. Diane so enjoyed many of the arts. She sculpted character dolls, created watercolor painting and writings. She loved entertaining family and friends with piano, dulcimer and harmonica playing. Diane was an outdoor enthusiast, but especially enjoyed boating the beautiful Les Cheneaux Islands and connecting waterways. Winters were spent by a warm fire with many books and her writings. She often shared the warmth of her home with those in need, allowing them to stay days, weeks or months until they were ready to go on. Diane was born on July 2, 1941 to Sanford and Loretta Charron and grew up in Pinconning. She graduated from Mercy College of Nursing in Grand Rapids as a registered nurse. She worked a variety of positions in psychiatric nursing from San Francisco to New York City. Moving to the Upper Pennisula of Michigan in 1977 she continued her nursing career primarily as a consultant and educator coupled with the service as Director of Vocational Health Education Program for the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of the Chippewa Indians, JPTA instructor for Lake Superior State University, psychiatric nurse for the Michigan Department of Corrections, home health nurse for Chippewa County Public Health. She had a need to help make working or living conditions better for her fellowman (or woman). Since 1996, she traveled extensively for U.S. Nursing Corporation, addressing the challenges and new friends she met on these diverse assignments. In addition to her nursing career, she trained in Lennox Massachusetts at the Kapala Center for Yoga and Health, acquiring a certificate as a massage therapist. Survivors include her husband, Christian W.; son Chad, son Chris and daughter-in-law, Michelle and grandson Zachary. Diane is also survived by her parents, Sanford and Loretta Charron of Saginaw; a brother Rodney Charron and wife Pat of Oscoda; three sisters and their families: Sandra and Walter Bressler of Midland, Kaye Laughton of Grayling and Rebecca and Dennis Kowalski of Lake Orion. Diane is also survived by many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Diane will be missed greatly by anyone who ever knew or met her. Mr. Berger, age 87 years, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 14, 1999. He was born in Detroit on May 18, 1911 to the late Robert and Betty (Adler) Berger. Mr. Berger was the retired Manager of the AAA office in Bay City. He was a member of Temple Israel, Joppa Lodge No. 315 F & AM and the Scottish Rite Bodies - Valley of Bay City. He was a former associate member of the F.O.P. Lodge No. 103. On November 20, 1941, he married the former Janet Stein in Bay City and she survives him. He also leaves 3 children: Nancy (David) Rowan of Essexville, David A. Berger of Lansing and Mark (Deanne) Berger of Bay City; 4 grandchildren: Robert and Sara Rowan and Steven and Jessica Berger; a sister, Elsa Berger of Arizona and a brother, Arthur (Emi) Berger of Arizona. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Pfeiffer. Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Penzien & Steele Funeral Home. Rabbi Robert M. Scott will officiate. Mr. Lanczak, age 82 years, passed away Saturday, February 13, 1999 at Pines Nursing Home, Gladwin following a brief illness. He was born on June 16, 1916 in Pinconning to the late Peter and Mary (Haranda) Lanczak. He was a member of St. Anne's Church of Edenville. He is survived by his wife, Wavis and his son, John Lanczak of Pinconning; 11 great-grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five stepchildren: Leota Aucoin of Mt. Clemens, Lee Hoard of Gladwin, Louann Klimek of Rochester Hills, Lyle Hoard of Alabama and Lyn Hoard of Warren; 15 stepchildren; 24 step- great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vicki Kruchowski and Helen Fryzel, both of Pinconning; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Lanczak; half-brother Louis (Edwina) Lanczak; one half-sister, Pauline (James) Petroiak; a stepbrother, Walter Legut; and two step-sisters: Julia Pajout and Francise (Frank) Talicska. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances; his son: Michael Lanczak, a daughter, Marge Sherman, daughter-in-law, Diane Lanczak two sisters, Katie Kossick and Julia Lorence and a brother, Steve Lanczak. Mrs. Rozek, died unexpectedly Friday, February 12, 1999 at her daughter's home in Clearwater, Florida, age 83 years. Irene was born the daughter of the late Ned and Bessie (Woloszyk) Jarczynski March 2, 1915 in Beaver Twp., and had resided in this area all of her life. She was a member of St. Valentine's Church, Beaver, farmed with her husband Theodore, catered making many wedding cakes, enjoyed sewing and playing cards. Mr. Sylvester, age 19 years, passed away Saturday, February 13, 1999 due to injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born August 23, 1979 in Bay City. Jeff graduated in 1998 from Pinconning High School and was currently attending Delta College. Jeff was employed at Pizza Dude in Pinconning and Linwood. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Jeff is survived by his parents, Tina and Scott Scherzer of Linwood and Stephen Berta of Florida; two sisters: Trisha and Allison, both of Linwood; his grandparents: Donald (Patricia) Sylvester of Glennie and Sue Parker of Midland; his aunts and uncles: Donald (Michelle) Sylvester of Linwood, Bruce (Denise) Dietzel of Rhodes, Chet (Theresa) Blohm of Linwood, Bryan I. Eileen Buschlen passed away February 15, 1999 at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home, Gladwin, MI, following a short illness, age 83. She was born in Gladwin where she was a lifelong resident and a homemaker. On March 25, 1934, she married William G. Buschlen in Gladwin and he predeceased her on February 23, 1981. Surviving are two sons and three daughters and their spouses: Paul Buschlen, Allegan, MI, Donald and Christina Buschlen, Essexville, MI, Esther and James Crawford, Long Beach, CA, Carol and Guy Waldrip, Odessa, TX, Ruth Ann and Bruce Carns, Allegan, MI; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Also, a sister, Gladys Heffner of Gladwin. She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Eagleson on November 6, 1989. Age 91, died February 14, 1999 at Fostrian Manor. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later time. Mrs. Fish was born in Bay City, MI December 16, 1907 the daughter of Theodore and Johannah (Koch) Stegman. She spent most of her life in San Diego, California with only the last couple of years spent in Flushing. She was joined in marriage to Lt. Commander N. L. Fish in 1951 and he preceded her in death September 28, 1995. Mrs. Fish was a member of the U.S. Navy Auxiliary and she spent many years as manager of Carsons, a dress shop in Bay City. Surviving are daughter Shirley Hayward Brownson of Davison; granddaughters: Maryann Brownson Peyton of Spring, TX; Susan Brownson Russell of Alexandria, VA; Deborah Dean Brownson Young and husband Clyde Young of Davison; grandson, Dallas B. Brownson of Davison; 3 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by parents, son-in-law Dallas Dean Brownson, grandson-in-law Col.
