Soderman, (Charron) Diane
Cedarville, California. Her death on December 18 left her husband, sons and family members in grief. Diane so enjoyed many of the arts. She sculpted character dolls, created watercolor painting and writings. She loved entertaining family and friends with piano, dulcimer and harmonica playing. Diane was an outdoor enthusiast, but especially enjoyed boating the beautiful Les Cheneaux Islands and connecting waterways. Winters were spent by a warm fire with many books and her writings. She often shared the warmth of her home with those in need, allowing them to stay days, weeks or months until they were ready to go on. Diane was born on July 2, 1941 to Sanford and Loretta Charron and grew up in Pinconning. She graduated from Mercy College of Nursing in Grand Rapids as a registered nurse. She worked a variety of positions in psychiatric nursing from San Francisco to Michigan in 1977 she continued her nursing career primarily as a consultant and educator coupled with the service as Director of Vocational Health Education Program for the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of the Chippewa Indians, JPTA instructor for Lake Superior State University, psychiatric nurse for the Massachusetts at the Kapala Center for Yoga and Health, acquiring a certificate as a massage therapist. Survivors include her husband, Christian W.; son Chad, son Chris and daughter-in-law, Michelle and grandson Zachary. Diane is also survived by her parents, Sanford and Loretta Charron of Saginaw; a brother Rodney Charron and wife Pat of Oscoda; three sisters and their families: Sandra and Walter Bressler of Midland, Kaye Laughton of Grayling and Rebecca and Dennis Kowalski of Lake Orion. Diane is also survived by many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Diane will be missed greatly by anyone who ever knew or met her. Mr. Berger, age 87 years, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 14, 1999. He was born in Detroit on May 18, 1911 to the late Robert and Betty (Adler) Berger. Mr. Berger was the retired Manager of the AAA office in Bay City. He was a member of Temple Israel, Joppa Lodge No. 315 F & AM and the Scottish Rite Bodies - Valley of Bay City. He was a former associate member of the F.O.P. Lodge No. 103. On November 20, 1941, he married the former Janet Stein in Bay City and she survives him. He also leaves 3 children: Nancy (David) Rowan of Essexville, David A. Berger of Lansing and Mark (Deanne) Berger of Bay City; 4 grandchildren: Robert and Sara Rowan and Steven and Jessica Berger; a sister, Elsa Berger of Arizona. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Pfeiffer. Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Penzien & Steele Funeral Home. Rabbi Robert M. Scott will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bay City Jewish Community Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12 noon until 1:30 PM. She spent most of her life in San Diego, TX; Susan Brownson Russell of Alexandria, VA; Deborah Dean Brownson Young and husband Clyde Young of Davison; grandson, Dallas B. Brownson of Davison; 3 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by parents, son-in-law Dallas Dean Brownson, grandson-in-law Col.
