Mr. Gower died Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at Brian's House, age 57 years. Son of the late Vernon and Helen (Rowell) Gower, he was born December 27, 1941 in Bay City and has lived here all of his life. He married the former Kathleen Boersma April 18, 1970 in Bay City. She survives him. Richard Gower served in the U.S. Air Force. Surviving besides his wife, Kathleen, he leaves 2 sons Joseph (Jill) Gower, Michael (Lisa) Gower all of Bay City; 3 grandchildren: Allyson, Abigail and Alexandra, 1 sister Margaret Lapouttre of Essexville. He was predeceased by 1 brother and a sister, Donald Gower and Betty Giffel. There will be visitation only on Friday, February 19, 1999 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Ambrose Funeral Home with inurnment at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Griffin, Bonnie Jean (Bula)
Bay City, Stone Company of Saginaw as a bookkeeper for over 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion Unit 18 Auxiliary and an associate member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 494. The former Bonnie Carmichael was married to James Griffin in 1975. Surviving are her husband James; two children, Kevin and Jamie, both of Bay City; two grandchildren, Christina and Christopher Buzzard; her mother, Betty Murringer of Bay City; two brothers, Glenn (Debra) Carmichael of Hemlock, Doug Carmichael of Michigan
James O. Kent, age 77 years, died Wednesday, February 17, 1999 in Bay Medical Center. He was born to James A. and Charlotte P. (Buckius) Kent on August 1, 1921 in Bay City, where he resided all his life. Jim was a nickel plater with Goddeyne Manufacturing for twenty-five years, retiring in 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving our country during WWII. Jim was a life member of D.A.V. Chapter #9, P.L.A.V. Post #162, Amvets Post #22, and V.F.W. Post #485. He married Midge Gunther in 1945 and she preceded him in death in 1982. Surviving family members include a daughter, Karolyn French of Bay City; three grandchildren, Amber (Luke) Goss, James (Julie) French, and Jay (Renae) French; six great grandchildren, James, Kevin, Jerred, and Nathan French, Tyler and Kaitlyn Goss; two sisters, Iva Johnson and Thelma Chamberlain of Bay City; along with several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Pauline Witzke and Beatrice Lambert. Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 20, 1999 at 11:00 AM in the W.A. Trahan Funeral Chapel. Rev. Robert Fread (Kawkawlin Community Church) will officiate and intermenty will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery, with military rites by the Bay County Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bay County Veterans Council. Visiting hours are Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the W.A. Trahan Funeral Chapel. W. A. Mrs. Pilat, age 77 years, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at Saginaw St. Mary's from complications after open heart surgery. She was born in Hamtramck on March 12, 1921 to the late John & Agnes (Ziomek) Pieniozek. She was retired from Standish Community Hospital and was a member of St. Agnes Church and Altar Society. She is survived by her children: Robert Pilat and friend, Sherry Rumer of Beaverton, Ronald Pilat and friend, Cindy Lamay of Gladwin, Barbara (Thomas) St. James of Whittemore, Mary Jane (Bruce) Skornia of Bay City; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers: Frank Pieniozek of Pinconning, Stanley Pieniozek of Bentley, Edward Pieniozek of Bay City, Leo Pieniozek of Sterling, Chester Pieniozek of Brutus and John Pieniozek of Bentley and a sister, Angeline Pieniozek of Bentley. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband John Sr.; a son John Jr.; and several brothers & sisters-in-law. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, February 20, 1999 at 11 AM from St. Agnes Church with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Miller presiding with burial in St. Mary's Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lee- Ramsay Funeral Home on Friday from 1 PM to 9 PM. The St. Agnes Rosary Society will say the rosary at 3 PM on Friday at the funeral home. A Parish Wake Service will be held Friday evening at 7:30 PM with Pastoral Administrator Barbara Walkley presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the family's wishes.
