John A. Styninger, age 73 of Shepherd, Michigan, died Saturday, February 20, 1999 at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. He was born January 22, 1926 in Bay City to Harriet May Styninger and has been of resident of Shepherd since 1976. He married Mary Lou Woods on September 9, 1956 in Bay City. John was the Supervisor of Volunteer Services for the DSS for 30 years. He was a member of the Optimists, the Foster Grandparents program, and was "instrumental in creating Christmas programs for Isabella County." John enjoyed camping, fishing, flying, stamp collecting, was a book collector and loved music, history, politics and friends. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Styninger of Shepherd, mother-in-law, Mrs. Cleo Woods of Bay City and many family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Harriet Styninger and grandparents. Cremation will take place followed by a private family service in Bay City. Beckrow, Theron C. (Chick)

Mr. Beckrow, age 82 years, died February 22, 1999 at Heartland Health Care-Hampton. He was born in Bay Port, MI on February 1, 1917 to the late Rudolph and Emma (Hoats) Beckrow. He was a Police Officer in Bay city for 34 years prior to his retirement in 1976. Mr. Beckrow was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and its Men's Club. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Mr. Beckrow is survived by his wife, the former Shirley R. Markel, whom he married October 15, 1944. He also leaves three children: David Beckrow of Bay City, Wayne Beckrow of Essexville and Ruth (Neal) Felch of Essexville and six grandchildren: Melissa Beckrow, Alisha Beckrow, Brenda Beckrow, Chad Beckrow, Andrew Felch and Meghan Felch. He was preceded in death by a brother, Morley Beckrow. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 11 A.M. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Duane M. Harris will officiate. Daniel F. Jodway, age 70, of Pinconning, formerly of Walled Lake, died February 21, 1999. Beloved husband of Alicemary Jodway; loving father of Sandra (Tom) McDermott, Brian (Marsha) Jodway, Diane (Paul) and Brian Knowles, Caroline (Mark) Platt, Susan (Tom) Scheid and Mark (Michelle) Grusnick; dear grandfather of Jessica, Travis, Micah, Mariah, Melissa, Samantha, Allison, Rachel, Cassandra, Michael, Myles and Meredith; brother of Howard (Patricia), Marlin (Faye), Shirley Coil, Darlene (Jack) Halliwell, Sharon Smith and the late Gary and Lois Jodway; also, several nieces and nephews and dear friend of Chuck Belcher. Mom, "A part of you has grown in me, Together forever we shall be. Never apart, Maybe in distance, but never in heart." Betty Jane passed away on Monday, February 22, 1999 at 7:30 A.M. from a nearly four year bout with cancer. She was born on June 26, 1923, age 75 years. Surviving is a daughter, Shaaron and her husband, Patrick Lyddy; a grandson, Joseph Shawl; three great-grandsons that she dearly loved, Justin, Jordan and Jerryd; a step-granddaughter, Melissa and her husband, John Newman, Owosso, MI; two step- great-grandchildren, Ashton and Joshua Newman; and a half- brother, Don and his wife, Lindsey Liedke, Essexville, and their children. Also, a nephew, Bill Battle, Prescott, MI; a cousin, Orville D. Hertz, Bay City; and many nieces and nephews. Betty served in the military (Army) and was a member of the DAV Women's AUX. She was preceded in death by her mother, Blanche Manyen- Matuzak, her father, William Liedke, her step-father, Joseph (Alvin) Manyen, her sister, Audrie Battle-Adams, her aunt, Estelle Bertrand,a dear friend that she always called her other daughter, Phyllis Champine, her daughter, Jamie (Betty's caregiver) and her son, Shane; Kelly and Scott Wegner; her special friends, Denise and Ray Cobb and their children, Bonnie Robinson, Mary Kelmar and Cheryl Harley, Ruth and Bob Anderson, Ashley Maida and her family, Nancy Sinn, Wanda Krol, Geraldine Reynolds, her home health nurse, Laura Hintz and her special mail-carriers, Patty and Sharon. A very special thank you to her Doctors Guigelaar and Hurtubise and to all of the nurses and caregivers at Bay Medical Center 3 East who were so wonderful to my Mom, especially Greg; also, Father Heller and Sister Mary Epple. Honoring Betty's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 25, 1999 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bay City. Rev. James G. Mr. Pieniazek, age 71, passed away Sunday, February 21, 1999 at his daughter's home following a lingering illness. He was born on September 17, 1927 to the late John & Agnes (Ziomek) Pieniazek in Hamtramck. Frank married the former Donna Mae Evaniec on April 22, 1950 in St. Mary's Church, she preceded him in death in 1988. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. Frank owned and operated Frank's TV & Appliance store in Pinconning for several years. He is survived by his daughters: Paula (Arnold) Cook and Delphine Barnum both of Pinconning; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; 1 sister, Angeline Pieniozek of Bentley; 5 brothers: John and Stanley Pieniozek both of Bentley, Edward Pieniozek of Bay City, Leo Pieniozek of Sterling and Chester Pieniozek of Brutus. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, Donna and a sister, Lottie Pilat. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at 11:00 AM from St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Mrs. Scott died Sunday evening, February 21, 1999 at her home. Age 78 years. The daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Michelonis) Johnson was born October 20, 1920 in Bay City where she has been a lifelong resident. She was married to Carlton Scott on June 22, 1940 in Bay City, he survives her. Mrs. Scott was employed at the former Goddeyne Manufacturing, retiring in 1978, she was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Surviving besides her husband Carlton she leaves three sons and a daughter-in-law: Douglas C. and Sherri Scott of Trevor, WI, David C. Scott, Port Richey, FL, Randy L. Scott of Bay City; six grandchildren; fourteen great- grandchildren, also a sister Josephine Simon of Bay City, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 25, 1999 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Rev. Fr. Michael G. Dunckel with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Isabelle M. Easter, age 91, of Zeeland, died Monday, February 22, 1999 at a local care facility. Mrs. Easter was born in Bay City, May 12, 1907, and was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1972. Surviving are her children: Donna and Stanley Piteau of Holland and Belleview, FL and Barbara and Robert Heidger of Summerfield, FL; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
