David M. Eurich, age 53 years, died Monday evening, February 22, 1999 in Bay Medical Center. He was born to John and Priscilla (Turschak) Eurich on October 24, 1945 in Kalamazoo and resided in Bay City most of his life. Dave was a graduate of Unionville High School and had attended Delta College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving our country during the Vietnam Era. Dave was a mechanic with GM's Powertrain in Saginaw and a member of St. Hyacinth Parish. On November 19, 1966, he married Joan C. Cianek in Oceanside, CA, and she survives him, along with two children, Michael (Allyson) Eurich of San Antonio, TX and Leah (Scott) Biskupski of Bay City; two grandchildren, David Michael Eurich, II and Bryce Christian Biskupski; a brother and a sister, Daniel Eurich of Bay City and Dorothy (Jerry) Baker of Coleman; his father-in-law, Harry Cianek; two brothers-in-law, Ronald (Elaine) Cianek and Randy (Mary Jo) Cianek; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Diana Eurich. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, February 26, 1999 at 10:00 AM in St. Hyacinth Church. Dave will lie in state in church Friday after 9:00 AM. Rev. Gerald F. Kukla will preside and intermenty will follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery, with military rites by the Bay County Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Organ Procurement Agency of Michigan. Mr. Fillmore, age 40, passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 23, 1999 in Paw Paw, Michigan from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on June 20, 1958 in Bay City to the late Glen W. and Dorothy (Fenstermaker) Fillmore. He married the former Susan Parks on June 14, 1986 in Linwood, she survives him. He was employed by Express Leasing Trucking in Bay City. Surviving besides his wife, Susan, is one son, Joshua Fillmore and a stepdaughter, Krista Johnson; one grandson, Devin Baker; his mother and father-in-law, Fred and Mary Ann Parks of Linwood; six brothers and sisters: Mike (Misty) Fillmore, Raymond Fillmore, Kenneth (Toni) Fillmore, Joanne Settler and Darlene Fillmore, all of Pinconning and Bob (Diane) Fillmore of Essexville. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 27, 1999 at 1:00 P.M. from the Rivertown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gerry Hunter presiding. Cremation will be at Sunset Valley Crematory. Mrs. Haga, age 93 years, died February 23, 1999 at Heartland Health Care-Hampton. She was born in Bay City on October 25, 1905 to the late Arthur and Corine (Laframbois) Lipan. Her husband, William J. Haga preceded her in death on May 9, 1971. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former member of the A.B.W.A. Prior to retirement she was employed at the Bay City Shovels, the Bay Osteopathic Hospital and the Electrical Workers Credit Union. She is survived by two children: Leigh J. (Betty R.) Haga and Lore C. "Miss Lore" (Kenneth V.) Ayotte, both of Essexville; eleven grandchildren: Holly Bills, Denise MacPhail, Lisa Berra, William Haga, Amy Garcia, Richard Haga, Nanci Moore, Patrick LaPorte, Jon LaPorte, Suzanne Wiesing and Rebecca Wiesing; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Maxine Rosenberg of Arizona, Elaine Baranek of Bay City and Jane Curtis of Arizona and two brothers: James Lipan and Richard Lipan, both of Bay City. The Funeral Liturgy will be Friday at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Raymond S. Fron will preside. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. Berna B. Sulski, age 84 years, died Tuesday morning, February 23, 1999 in Bay Shores Nursing Care Center. She was born to Jack and Louise (Zumbach) Miller on July 31, 1914 in Merritt Township. Berna was a member of St. Joseph Church. On June 10, 1939 she married Aloysius Sulski in St. James Church. Aloysius survives her, along with one sister, Cecelia Feinauer of Grand Rapids; sister- in-law, Ella Mae Miller of Bay City; and several nieces and nephews, especially Jolan Williams of Alabama, Charlene Banko of Ada, Karen, Keith, and Gary Miller, all of Bay City. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Arnold Miller; and her sister, Angelus Black. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church at a later date. Luella A. Sawden, age 85 years, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, February 23, 1999. She was born to Leonard and Lydia Spengler on April 16, 1913. On October 6, 1937, Luella married Lewis G. Sawden, who preceded her in death in 1994. Surviving family members are one daughter, three grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Martha (William) Gibas; children, Kimberly Gibas at home. Stephen (Sarah) Gibas, Gladwin, Michigan; Matthew (Joelle) Gibas; children: Zachary and Nathan Gibas of Reading, Pennsylvania and Amanda Gibas of Pinconning, Michigan. Luella is also survived by two sisters: Dorothy Stieve and Elaine (Dewey) Pegler of Merritt Island, Florida and one brother, Calvin (Doris) Spengler of Auburn, Michigan and one sister-in-law, Charlotte Nuffer of Auburn, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. Luella was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Leona Weber. Luella grew up on a farm near Willard. Her brother Calvin now lives on the homestead, a Centennial Farm. She attended the rural Willard School and attended the old County Normal for a year and upon certification from Michigan State started teaching in rural schools and later earning her B.A. in Education from Central Michigan University. After teaching at the old Warren School for four years, she went to the Auburn School, teaching 3rd and 4th grades for four years. She then taught for two years at the old LeFevre School (Frenchtown) on Flajole Road for two years. Luella then took time off for her family and returning to teach in 1949 at Baxman School and then retiring in 1975 after teaching in the county for 36 years. McAlear- Sawden School was named after her and Margaret McAlear in October 1960. Mrs. Sawden was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Certification for Teacher Preparation Program at Michigan State University, American Association of University Women (AAUW), Life Member of Central Michigan Alumnae Association, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP), Bay- Area Retired School Personnel (BARSP). Funeral and Committal Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, 1999 from Grace Lutheran Church, Auburn. Rev. David H. Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Bay City. Luella's family will receive friends at the AUBURN CHAPEL of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Thursday from 4:00-8:30 p.m., then on Friday, Luella will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Mrs. Killian, age 89, passed away Tuesday morning February 23, 1999 at Bay Medical Center following a lingering illness. She was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on January 14, 1910 to the late Joseph Sr. & Josephine (Zrebiec) Walczak. She was a member of St. Mary's Church. She is survived by a sister, Severa Maida of Pinconning and her son-in-law Joseph DeCilio of Rhode Island; 3 grandchildren: Maria DiGiovanni, Diane and Michael DeCilio and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walter, a son, Kenneth Killian and her daughter Marlain M. DeCilio, 2 sisters, Stella Sequin and Viola Skarbek and 5 brothers: Joseph Jr., John, Henry, Frank and Stanley Walczak.
