Mr. Ratkos, age 86, passed away Friday, April 30, 1999 at Greenbriar Nursing Center following a lingering illness. He was born in Bay City to the late Andrew and Martha (Peranski) Ratkos on September 24, 1912. He was a veteran of WWII, a member of St. Mary's Church and was a self employed carpenter. He is survived by two brothers, Joe Ratkos of Standish and Ed Ratkos of Pinconning and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, five brothers: Phillip, Andrew, Ben, Tony and Henry; two sisters: Anna Wilczynski and Helen Sovoie. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, May 3, 1999 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Fr. Joseph Miller presiding with burial in St. Mary's Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 PM to 8 PM and a Prayer Service will be held at 3 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Services will take place 11 o'clock on Monday morning May 3, 1999 at Stapish West. Rev. Oscar Pate will officiate. Interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Stry, Edward, Ph.D.
Bay City, New York on July 3, 1921. Dr. Stry taught chemistry at Queens College, Belmont Abby College, Bay City Jr. College and at Delta College for twenty-five years where he retired as professor Emeritus. He served as an instructor for twenty-five years with the U.S. Air Force Reserve of Bay City. Dr. Stry was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, the Men's Club and the Ushers Club. He was an avid golfer and skier. Surviving are three brothers, Thaddeus, Henry and Daniel Stry; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday afternoon, May 10, 1999 at 4 o'clock in St. Maria Goretti Church. Rev. Fr. James F. Gavit will preside. Alger, Michigan. She was born on April 10, 1940 in Bay City to Kenneth and Ethel (Jackson) Lather. Mrs. Gapen was a member of the American Legion, Weldon L. Stahl Unit 370 in Skidway Lake. Mrs. Gapen is survived by her daughter, April Johnroe and her special friend, Dave Grover of Winston Salem, California, Terry (Kay) Gapen of Detroit, Tim (Lori) Gapen of Sanford; three grandchildren: April, Jim and Jason Johnroe; brothers: Russell (Sue) Lather and Ken (Lynn) Lather and sisters: Tracey Lather, Jan Spears and Kerry Roch; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Denelda Joseph of Skidway Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn. Funeral Service will take place 11 o'clock Wednesday morning at Stapish East Funeral Home (Essexville). Robb, David "George"

Mr. Robb passed away Sunday morning, May 2, 1999 at Bay Medical Center. Age 88 years. The son of the late David and Katherine (Waybrandt) Robb was born September 16, 1910 in Bay City. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, U.A.W. #362 Retirees Club and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Robb retired from General Motors Powertrain Division, Bay City Plant. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen S. LaCombe whom he married on May 10, 1947 and they recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. Also surviving are his sister, Sarah Pratt of Bay City; two sisters-in-law and two brothers- in-law: Virginia LaCombe of Bay City, James Ralph of Bay City and Clare and Betty LaCombe of Largo, FL; his special friends, Anita Mueller and family; and his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Jessie, Irene and Flora and his brother, Kenneth. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Tuesday, May 4, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. James Kellermann with private intermenty following in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. and from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.
