Mr. Salogar passed away early Monday morning, May 3, 1999 at Bay Special Care Center. Age 86 years. The son of the late John and Bernadine (Leygraff) Salogar was born in Bay City on March 13, 1913. John retired from the Bay City Fire Department as Battalion Chief in 1974 after 35 years of service. He also retired from Rush Stationers & Printers after 50 years of service. John was a member of the International Association of Firefighters #1435. In 1952, John was a charter board member of Bay City Little League and was a member of the National Board of Directors of Little League. John was on the Board of Directors of Bay Governmental Credit Union, was a member of Northwest Citizens Council and was also a member of the Elks Lodge #88. He was also a member of Visitation Catholic Church and the League of Catholic Men and Women. John is survived by his son, Robert Salogar and his friend, Nancy Frauenheim of Whittmore Lake, MI; a granddaughter, Beth Salogar of Boca Raton, FL; a grandson, Neal Salogar of San Francisco, CA; his sister, Irene and Tom Newsham of Bay City; sisters-in-law: Rita Salogar, Florence Salogar, Wanda Ayotte and Nadine Casper, all of Bay City; and his daughter-in-law, Margaret Salogar, Bay City. John was predeceased by his wife, Hazel (Bassett) Salogar in 1990. He was also predeceased by his sister, Mary Goulet; three brothers, Herman, Frank and Henry Salogar and a half-brother, Ernest Casper. A Funeral Liturgy will take place Wednesday morning at 11:00 A.M. at Visitation Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Gerald E. Balwinski will officiate with entombment following in St. Patrick Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 and on Tuesday from 1:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and at the church on Wednesday, John will lie in state from 10 A.M. until the time of Liturgy. On Tuesday evening, the Elks #88 Lodge of Sorrow Service will take place at 7:15 P.M. and Wake Prayers at 7:30. Memorial contributions may be made to Visitation Catholic Church. Loving father, loyal husband and special son passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, May 1, 1999 at Bay Medical Center in Bay City. Age 42 years. Tim was born September 3, 1956 in St. Albans, New York and has lived in this area most of his life. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Bay City. Tim enjoyed restoring old cars and was an avid race fan in which he was Pit Crew Chief for Vouaux Brothers Racing Team. Tim also served in the Michigan National Guard. On July 23, 1977, he married Theresa M. Mesh, she survives him. Also surviving are his three children: Hollie T. Vouaux, John S. Vouaux and Breanna A. Vouaux, all at home; his parents, Valerie (Henry) Grimmer of Auburn and Charles Vouaux of Lakewales, FL; his grandmother, Constance Scolding of Clacton-on-Sea, England; three brothers: Christopher (Denise) Vouaux of Pinconning, David Vouaux of Auburn and Peter (Michelle) Vouaux of Midland; two sisters: Karen (Ron) Sharp of Auburn and Amanda (George) Silvernaile of Saginaw; five step-brothers: Steve (Chris) Grimmer of Peoria, AZ, Donald (Melody) Grimmer of Bay City, Michael (Anne) Grimmer of Bay City, Tim (Ernestine) Grimmer of Bay City; and Joseph Grimmer of Bay City; four step sisters: Connie (Darrell) Embrey of Montgomery, AL, Denise Potter of Saginaw, Elizabeth (Darryl) Rochon of Livonia and Colette (Jeff) Eigner of Honolulu, HI; his mother-in-law, Ann Mesh; sisters- in-law: Judy Greene and Sandy (LeRoy) Witucki; brothers-in-law: Frank Mesh and Jim Mesh; and many nieces and nephews. Tim was predeceased by his grandfather, John Scolding; father-in-law, Peter Mesh and a favorite niece, Anita LaVictoire. Funeral and Committal Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Died Monday morning, May 3, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Age 87 years. Esther Oeder was born May 5, 1911 in Reese, to the late John and Martha (Albrecht) Oeder. She was married to Jacob "Jake" Diener March 6, 1927. He survives her. Esther was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese and it's Ladies Aid Society. Surviving in addition to her husband, Jake, is her sister, Ilene Dreffs of Saginaw; her grandson, Clayton Palm and his wife, Heiki of Vassar, and her granddaughter, Mary Morley and her husband, Randy of Reese; seven great- grandchildren: Brandon, Nathan, Ryan and Gina Palm and Justin, Kenton and Calvin Morley. besides her parents, Esther was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Walter and Marion Palm and by three sisters and one brother. Mr. Goodman, age 72, passed away suddenly May 3, 1999 at Bay Medical Center from injuries received in an auto accident. He was born in Flint on June 3, 1926 to the late Leonard and Nina (Petit) Goodman. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy and was a self- employed handyman. He is survived by his children and their mother: Dorothy Goodman of Bentley, Leonard (Rosemarie) Goodman of Standish, Wayne (Lynn) Goodman of Bentley, Debra (Randy) Katzer of Standish and Dean (Becky) Goodman of Sault Ste. Marie; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lois Good and Joyce Fry both of Owosso; a daughter-in- law, Arda Goodman of Bentley; and a very special friend, Irene Champine and her family and all of his friends at the Senior Center Apartments. David Chester Kelpinski, age 49 years, died suddenly at home, Sunday, May 2, 1999 after a lifelong struggle with alcoholism. He was born on November 9, 1949 in Bay City. Dave attended St. John's Elementary School, Essexville and was a member of the Bay City Central High School Class of 1968. He formerly worked at Pic-Way Shoes, Montgomery Ward, and Inacomp Computer. During the past several years, he was employed as a painter and handyman. Survivors include his parents, Chester and Geraldine Kelpinski of Bay City; three sisters and one brother: Sandi (Hank) Bridges, Nancy (Jack) MacKenzie, Anne (Greg) Cabala, all of Bay City and Peter D. Kelpinski of Leesburg, VA; three nieces and four nephews: Becky (Jeremy) Staples of Pell City, AL, Suzann Bridges, Katie and Danny Cabala, Matt, Ben and Jeff MacKenzie, all of Bay City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Ronald Harvey Pavlawk, age 61 years, passed away Sunday evening May 2, 1999 at Bay Medical Center with his family at his side. Ron was born on his grandparent's farm in Gilford Township, Tuscola County on April 22, 1938 to the late Harvey and Viola (Haske) Pavlawk. He was a lifelong resident of Bay County. On February 28, 1959 he married the former Harriet Fulco and she survives him along with their two daughters: Lori (Terry) Rochow of Bay City and Amy (Ryan Mitchell) Pavlawk, also of Bay City; his grandson, Steven Mitchell, who gave Ron immeasurable joy the past few years. Ron had been ill the past year and recently retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 816. He served with the Michigan National Guard from 1955 to 1961. Also surviving are his brothers: Jerry and Ann Pavlawk and their families of Munger, Roger and Sandi Pavlawk and their daughter, Michelle of Bay City; his aunt, Alice Haske of Essexville; and several cousins. Ron was also predeceased by his infant twin sons and his grandparents, Joseph and Minnie Pavlawk and William and Anna Haske. Despite his father's death when Ron was 15 years old, he had many fond memories of his childhood and childhood friends and recently revisited some places with special meaning to him. The family wishes to thank Bay Medical Center 3-East, the outpatient Oncology Clinic and outpatient lab for their kindness and cheerfulness, as even to the end, Ron was able to appreciate and return the occasional joke or quip. We are especially grateful to Dr. Luigi Maresca of Saginaw, whose brilliiant surgery in 1993, that others thought futile, gave Ron five productive years and gave him the pleasure of being grandpa to Steven. Funeral Service will be Thursday at 11 A.M. at Floral Gardens Cemetery Chapel. The Rev. Carl G. Avery will officiate. Burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery.
