Mr. Rosekrans passed away Monday afternoon, May 3, 1999 at Bay Shores Nursing Home following a brief illness. Age 83 years. He was born February 27, 1916 in Auburn, MI and has resided in this area all of his life. He formerly owned and operated the Standard Gas Station in Kawkawlin. He is survived by his wife, the former Myrtle E. Smith, whom he married December 18, 1937; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Richard Ellison of Kawkawlin; four grandchildren: Cheryl and Steve Witzke of Midland, Carol and Dan Michalski of Linwood, Richard Ellison of Sanford and Raymond and Patty Ellison of Midland; nine great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Leslie and Ruth Rosekrans of CA and Bernice Rosekrans of Bay City; one sister, Helen Rosekrans of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will take place Thursday, May 6, 1999 at 1:00 P.M. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Carter Preston with intermenty in Floral Gardens Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, stretched out His arms and wrapped Anna in His everlasting love to forever walk with Jesus. Anna passed away Monday, May 3, 1999. Age 76 years. She was born August 4, 1922 in Saginaw to Michael and Katherine (Toth) Grnya. They predeceased her. She married Wellington Arndt on January 19, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Saginaw. She was a former member of that church. He predeceased her on July 2, 1992. Anna was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Frankentrost, and the Ladies Guild. Left to celebrate and reflect her life are one daughter and two sons: Mrs. Patricia (Charles) Birnbaum of Tawas, David (Denise) Arndt of Saginaw and Frederick Arndt of Saginaw; three grandchildren: Vicki Ann Birnbaum of Tawas, Denae (John) Merrill of Saginaw, Danya Arndt of Saginaw; two step- grandchildren: Bradley and Steven Birnbaum; two step-great-grandchildren: Bradley Jr. and Marie Birnbaum; two sisters: Era Stecker of Richmond, Michigan and Katherine Grnya of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Anna was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Samuel, Michael, Paul and Steve Grnya, and her sister, Elizabeth Grnya. Funeral Service will take place at 1 P.M. Thursday, May 6, 1999 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 Holland, Saginaw. Rev. Donald Neunedorf will officiate with intermenty to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Raab died Tuesday evening, May 4, 1999 at Bay Medical Center. Age 77 years. The son of the late Peter J. and Florence M. (Hughes) Raab was born April 22, 1922 in Berkey, OH. He married the former Regina M. Ronau on November 28, 1946 in Berkey, OH; she survives him. Mr. Raab served with the US Army Airborne Division during WWII. Dick owned and operated the Auburn Service Plaza from 1967 until retiring in 1978 when they moved to Grayling, MI. In 1993 they returned to Bay City where they have lived since. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Elks Club of Midland, and K of C Council #3590 of Auburn. Surviving besides his wife Regina, he leaves his children: Judy (Jim) Wells, of Littleton, CO; Patricia Raab of Linwood, MI, Brian (Melody) Raab of Auburn, MI, Shelly (David) Thomas of Oakland, MI; six grandchildren: Tim Wells, Jeanine Wells, Stephanie De Shano Wakeman, Heather De Shano, Breanne Raab and Kelsey Raab. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister: Melvin, Donald and Beatrice Raab. Honoring Mr. Raab's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, May 7, 1999 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Rev. Fr. Michael G. Dunckel with inurnment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Helen Thorson-Phillips, age 85, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away April 28, 1999. She was born July 19, 1913 in Petoskey, Michigan. In 1993 she moved to Sarasota from Bay City, Michigan. Helen was a homemaker and an artist and was a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by two daughters: Susan Duffer of Sarasota and Julie Bright, Meadow Vista, California; two brothers: Richard Drescher of Bay City and William Drescher of Orchard Lake; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private intermenty will be at a later date in Indianapolis at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
