Passed away Wednesday, April 28, 1999 at her winter residence in Bradenton, Florida. Age 74 years. She was born September 27, 1924 in Akron, MI, daughter of the late John and Millie (Fischer) Ruppal. She has resided in Unionville since 1944. She was married to Robert L. VanSteenhouse on May 6, 1944 in Sebewaing, MI. He survives her. She was a member of the Unionville Moravian Church. Surviving besides her husband, Robert, are one granddaughter, Trisha (VanSteenhouse) Rousseau and grandson, Robert C. VanSteenhouse, both of Saginaw; also three brothers: Ernest Ruppal of Sebewaing, Harold and his wife, Norma Ruppal and Donald and his wife, Genevieve Ruppal, all of Akron, MI; two sisters: Millie and her husband, Jacob Jacoby of Unionville and Clara and her husband, Walter Halabis of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert D. VanSteenhouse, three brothers, John, Otto and Edward Ruppal and two sisters, Emma Jacoby and Elizabeth Scott. Frank Jacobs, age 73, of Breckenridge, died Sunday morning, May 9, 1999 at the home of his daughter in Midland. He was born September 11, 1925 in Bay County, son of the late Henry and Louise (Vanocten) Jacobs. He married the former Donna Nordstrom on February 11, 1950 in Bay City. Surviving in addition to his wife, Donna Jacobs, are his children and their spouses: Betty and Mike Yedinak, Linda and Paul Strohpaul, Geraldine and Ben Larson, Donald Jacobs, Mary Ann Jacobs, Nora and Rick Roth, and Janet Rowell; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Norbert; sisters, Cecilia and Agnes. He was predeceased by his son, Gerald Frank Jacobs, daughter, Donna Marie Lockhart, grandson, Nick Yedinak, brothers, Lawrence, Clarence, Alphonse and a sister, Josephine. A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13, 1999 from Amazing Grace Church, 9232 E. Monroe (M-46), Wheeler, MI. Pastor Richard Jolliff will officiate with intermenty to take place later in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Jones, age 85 years, died May 10, 1999 at Bay Special Care Center. He was born in Muskegon on October 20, 1913, the son of William and Anna (Johnson) Jones. He is survived by his wife, the former Lorena (Laurie) K. McGrath, whom he married November 13, 1942. He also leaves four children: Dr. David A. Jones of Houston, TX, Cynthia L. Baughman of Ormond Beach, FL, Todd M. Jones of Bay City and Craig R. Jones of Boise, ID; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John A. Jones of Venice, FL; a sister, Betty A. Jones of Midland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Willard H. Jones of Midland. Mr. Jones was retired from Dow Chemical Company in Midland. His memberships include Westminster Presbyterian Church, Joppa Lodge No. 315 F. & A.M., the Scottish Rites Bodies- Valley of Bay City and Bay City Lodge No. 88 B.P.O.E. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Penzien & Steele Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 to 6 P.M. Mrs. Natzel, age 90, passed away suddenly Monday, May 10, 1999 at her residence. She was born in Essexville on July 1, 1908 to the late John and Lucy (Meyer) DeWyse. She was a teacher and had taught in many schools in Bay County during her lifetime. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, St. Anne's Society, National Retired Teachers Association and League of Catholic Men & Women. She is survived by her son, James Natzel of Pinconning; three brothers: Leonard and Cecilia DeWyse of Pinconning, George DeWyse and Ted and Betty DeWyse, both of Essexville; two sisters: Mary Richard of Bay City and Josephine and Merlin LaRouche of Pinconning. Grace was known and loved by her students and nieces and nephews. They would call her Gramma Grace because of the love and care she showed them. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred, in 1967 and a sister, Anna Pawel. Funeral Liturgy will be held Thursday, May 13, 1999 at 11 A.M. from St. Michael's Church with Rev. Fr. Mrs. Bauer passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon May 11, 1999 at Bay Medical Center. Age 44 years. She was born June 16, 1954 in Hubbard, OH. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was employed by Bay Arenac Mental Health as a Social Worker. She is survived by her husband, Gary W. Bauer, whom she married on September 15, 1984. Also surviving are her son, Andrew W. Bauer at home; her father, Mike Murphy of Hubbard, OH; her brother, Tom (Regina) Murphy of Hubbard, OH; her sister, Barbara Ann Murphy of TN; two nieces; her close friends, Gloria Harris of Auburn and Sandy Whittum of Bay City. She was predeceased by her mother, Gratia Murphy, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maynard and Edith Bauer. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Friday, May 14, 1999 at 1:30 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Mark A. Mr. Smith, age 73 years, died May 11, 1999 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw following a sudden illness. He was born in Hillside, New Jersey on October 14, 1925, the son of Benjamin and Bessie (Shatz) Smith. He graduated from Hillside High School and then entered the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge from the Navy, he entered Michigan State University from which he graduated in 1950. He was a member and Vice President of Zeta Beta Tau. He is survived by his wife, the former Marianne Polasky, whom he married May 26, 1951. He also leaves three children: Richard Alan (Candy) Smith of Saginaw, Steven Mark Smith of Royal Oak and Nancy Faye (James) Miller of Crecent, Iowa; three grandchildren: Heidi (William) Vitti of Highland Park, IL, Bethany Anne Miller and Katherine Rose Miller, both of Crecent Iowa; two brothers-in-law: Frank M. (Frumeth) Polasky of Saginaw and Robert (Annie) Schiff of Oakland CA; two sisters-in-law: Linda Pearl of Farmington Hills and Elaine Smith of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Morton Smith. Sandy was President of Meadowbrook Insurance Group of Saginaw. He was a member of Temple B'nai Israel of Saginaw and the B'nai B'rith. He was a member of the Saginaw Country Club and the Bay City Country Club. His masonic memberships include: Saginaw Lodge No. 77, F & A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies- Valley of Bay City and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple of Saginaw. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11 A.M. at Temple B'nai Israel in Saginaw. Rabbi Robert M. Scott will officiate. Entombment will be at Oakwood Mausoleum.
