Freier, Melvin John
Midland, North Carolina; two stepchildren: Chuck and Lorraine Crandall of Bay City, Donna and Dick Fobear of Indiantown; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Mr. Freier was predeceased by a son, Melvin Robert Freier, one brother, Ed, Freier, a sister, Elda Cherry and his children's mother, Evelyn Viola (Gray) Freier-Moore. Funeral Services will take place at 11:30 A.M. Friday, May 14, 1999 from the Zion Lutheran Church in Freeland. Rev. James Petteys will officiate with private graveside committal services in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Saginaw. Mr. Freier's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith- Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, Midland, on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and at the church on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until time of service. Ardeth P. Greene, age 88, of West Branch, passed away at her home on Tuesday. Mrs. Greene had lived in West Branch for most of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the CCW and received the Mother of the Year award from the League of Catholic Women. Mrs. Greene is survived by her children: Donna Jo (Emery) Evans, Wade "Joe" (Linda) Greene, William (Mary Jo) Greene, all of West Branch, Yvonne Storeby of St. Paul, MN, Margaret (John) McCoy of Effie, MN and a daughter-in-law, Alice Greene of West Branch; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great- grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, William Wade of Cleveland and Carl (Jane) Wade of Muskegon and two sisters, Wanda Kampenga of Muskegon and Margaret Risley of Imperial Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1986, son, Ronald in 1972, three grandchildren and a brother and sister. The family will receive friends at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch this evening from 7-9 P.M. and Thursday from 12-9 P.M. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Mary Jane Jaskiewicz, loving mother, grandmother, and best friend, age 72 years, passed away Monday evening, May 10, 1999 at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to the late Harold P. and Philomena C. McAlinden on February 22, 1927 in Bay City and resided here all of her life. She attended St. Boniface Grade School and graduated from St. James High School in 1944. Mary Jane was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Surviving family members include two daughters, Mary Jo and Johnna Joy Jaskiewicz, both of Bay City; four sons: James (Susan) Jaskiewicz of Auburn, Steve (Linda) Jaskiewicz of Essexville, Mark Jaskiewicz of Detroit, and Chris (Pam) Jaskiewicz of Bay City; nine grandchildren; her sister, Betty Anne Kowalski; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard H. McAlinden and Harold J. McAlinden, her son, John R. Jaskiewicz Jr. and her husband, John R. Jaskiewicz Sr. Special thanks to the Nursing Staff on 7 South of St. Mary's Medical Center, Dr. Rajoulh, Dr. Ninan and Hospice Nurse Sally Kantola for their loving care during Mom's illness. Honoring Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and intermenty of her cremains will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday evening, May 14, 1999 at 7:30 P.M. in W. A. Our loving mother, Estelle E. May, age 84 years, was called to eternal life with Jesus Christ. She was born on August 6, 1914 in Bay City to Peter and Joanna Bialek. They preceded her in death. She married Vern C. May on February 3, 1934. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1973. Mrs. May was retired from Michigan formerly of Owosso
Mr. Nesbit died Tuesday, May 11, 1999 at Bay Medical Center. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, MI on January 18, 1942 to Floyd and Merlie (Keller) Nesbit. He was a graduate of Owosso High School Class of 1959 and resided most of his life in Owosso until moving to Essexville five years ago. He was married to Christine Brokaw for 27 years. Don loved the out-of-doors and was particularly fond of fishing and hunting. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1959 to 1962. He owned and operated Don's Barbershop in Westown Owosso for many years. In Essexville, he owned and operated the Shot and Shell Bar. Survivors are one daughter, Natalie (Marvin) Mesh of Corunna; one son, Joseph Nesbit (and fiancee' Denise Kassa) of Owosso; three grandchildren: Nina Sue, Emily Ann and Kyle George; his mother, Merlie Howard of Owosso; grandmother: Iva Keller of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers: Wayne (Phyllis) Nesbit of Kalkaska, Ronald Nesbit of Flint and Randy (Jeanne) Nesbit of Owosso; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Floyd, in 1992. Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 14, 1999 at 11 A.M. at the Nelson-House Funeral Home, Owosso with Pastor Roger DeVore officiating. He had lived in Owosso and Bay City and returned to Saginaw following the death of his wife, Grace, on July 19, 1984. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Jerry was manager of Walter's Shoes in Owosso for 25 years and was a member of the Owosso Chamber of Commerce. He then owned the shoe department at Sam's Brothers in Bay City until his retirement in 1987.
