Mrs. Secord passed away Wednesday morning, May 12, 1999 with her family at her side. Age 60 years. The daughter of Mabel (Fick) Kennedy of Midland, MI and the late Arthur Kennedy was born January 1, 1939 in Midland, MI. She was a self- employed upholsterer. Surviving are her children: Rick (Gail) Ropp of California, John (Karen) Ropp of Bay City, MI, and David (Sheryl) Ropp of California; her former husband Lloyd Ropp of Midland, MI; 8 grandchildren: Raquel, Renee, Laura, Chantel, Jason, Krystal, Skylar and Chase Ropp; 6 brothers and 3 sisters: Clifford (Helen) Kennedy, Ken (Shirley) Kennedy, Betty (Harold) Summers, Nelson (Edna) Kennedy, Ann King, Larry (Myrtle) Kennedy, Clarence (Donna) Kennedy, Ray (Betty) Kennedy, all of Midland, MI, Deanna (Richard) McRoberts of Kawkawlin, MI. Mrs. Secord was predeceased by a daughter Yvonne Ropp, a sister Virginia Kennedy and her former husband, Ray Secord. Mrs. McQuarter, age 57, passed away Thursday evening, May 13, 1999 at her residence with her family at her side following a brief illness. She was born in Grand Rapids on November 18, 1941 to Norman and Stella (Brinnon) Bachand. Pat married Harold McQuarter on February 28, 1960 in St. Mary's Church, Pinconning. He survives her. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Bay County Sheriff's Mounted Division, and was retired from the Pinconning Area Schools after 20 years. She enjoyed camping and working with her crafts and painting. She is survived by her husband, Harold; her children: Brenda (Kenneth) Publow of Pinconning and Scott (Cynthia) McQuarter of Midland; three grandchildren: K.C. & Brendan Publow and Lindsey McQuarter; her parents, Harold and Stella Bachand of Florida; a sister, Lilly Stief of Pennsylvania; two brothers: John (Mary) Bachand and Tim (Bonnie) Bachand, both of Florida. She was predeceasd by her brother-in-law, Donald Stief. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at 11 A.M. from St. Mary's Church with Rev. Fr. Joseph Miller presiding. Katherine Evelyn Cater, age 60 years, died Friday evening, May 14, 1999 in Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center, Midland. She was born to William and Clara (Adams) Ostrander on October 24, 1938 in Bay City. On August 9, 1958 Kitty married Robert W. Cater, and he survives her along with their five children: Robert A. (his girlfriend, Tammy Holt) Cater of St. Clair, MO, Teri (John) Franklin of Kansas City, MO, Karen VanSumeren of Bay City, David (Paula) Cater of Kansas City, MO, Darrel (Maria) Cater of Bay City; 22 grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters: Wilma Snyder of Kansas City, MO, Gerry (Tom) Lee of Buckner, MO, and Marlene (Ronald) Fine of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Don (Kay) Ostrander of Clinton, MO; and brother-in-law, Art LaForest of Bay City. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Irene LaForest and brother-in-law, Dick Snyder. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 16, 1999 at 5:00 P.M. in the W.A.Trahan Chapel. Rev. Passed away Saturday, May 15, 1999 at Heartland Health Care Center. Age 83 years. Sophia Caroline Mikosz was born December 13, 1915 in Chicago, Ill. She married William A. Haselbeck May 10, 1941 in Bay City. He preceded her in death December 12, 1990. Sophia was a member of St. Casimir Catholic church. Surviving are three sons: James and Karen Haselbeck of Saginaw, Thomas and Mary Jane Haselbeck of Bay City, Kenneth and Cynthia Hasaelbeck of Bridgeport; eight grandchildren: Heidi and Kenneth Bayne, Charles and Cathy, Greta, Johnathon, Kurt and Heidi, Christopher, Anna Maria and Katrina Ann Haselbeck; three great-grandchildren: Tiffany Ann, Todd Michael and Brandon Thomas Haselbeck. Sophia was preceded in death by one sister, Bernice Hermann. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph A. Traci D. Johnson, age 29 years, died Thursday afternoon, May 13, 1999 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born on January 30, 1970 in Lewiston, New York, and was a native of the Tuscarora Nation Indian Reservation. Traci was employed by Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice Services in Bay City. Survivors include her fiance, Chad Thayer of Linwood; her children, Jenna Johnson and Kevin Thayer, both of Linwood; her mother, Virginia Johnson (who is a 1/4 Potawatami) of Bay City; her father, Crandall M. Johnson of Tuscarora Nation, Lewiston, New York; two brothers, Crandall T. (Joyce) Johnson and Jason (Minnie) Johnson, both of Tuscarora Nation, Lewiston, New York; grandmother and clan mother, Norma Jean Johnson of Tuscarora Nation, Lewiston, New York; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Chief Traci Johnson and grandparents, George and Hazel Fokken. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. in the W.A. Passed away Friday morning, May 14, 1999 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw after a brief illness. Age 78 years. George was born February 22, 1921 in Midland, MI to the late Gustave and Anna (Schalk) Kuehne and has resided in this area all of his life. George was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fisherville. George had been employed at Dow Chemical in Midland for 40 years, retiring in 1982, was a life long farmer and an active volunteer with 4-H for many years. On September 6, 1941 he married Miss Jospehine M. Svercek, she survives him. Also surviving are five children: Robert I. Kuehne of Auburn, Barbara J. Kuehne of Battle Creek, Kenneth (Stacey) Kuehne, Dennis J. (Jane) Kuehne and Mary Jo (Mark) Schneider all of Midland. Fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters predeceased George. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fisherville. Msgr. Mary V. McCreery, age 82 years, passed away Friday evening, May 14, 1999 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI. She was born on June 13, 1916 to Ernest and Nellie (Bodrie) Brancheau. Mrs. McCreery was retired from Fisher Body Division in Flint. She is survived by her son, Richard (Leighanne) Martin of Otisville, MI; five grandchildren: Jenelle and Heather Copland, and Todd, Rich and Ann-Marie Martin; three sisters: Loretta Thomas of Grand Rapids, Dorothy LaFave of Bay City and Nellie (Robert) Karamol of Grand Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alvin Martin and Thomas McCreery, daughter, Vivian E. Copeland, one brother, Ernest Brancheau, two sisters, Thelma Ensley and Lucy Wilson.
