Mr. Sheehan died Thursday, May 20, 1999 at home. Age 71 years. He was born January 25, 1928 in Bay City and owned and operated Huron Auto Parts in Tawas for 30 years until 1990. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Tawas. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Kathie); one son, John (Gina) of Clarkston; five daughters: Charlene (David) Wingle of Kalamazoo, Sandra (Al) Davis, Mary Jo Sheehan, and Monica (Kevin) Humerickhouse, all of Tawas and Patricia (Doug) Lippert of Evansville, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; one sister, Faye Moody of New Smyrna, Florida and one brother, Edward (Rose) Sheehan of Roseville. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 5, 1999 at 10 A.M. in Holy Family Catholic Church in Tawas, Fr. Ron Gronowski officiating. Mr. Wolverton passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, May 19, 1999 at Marquette General Hospital. Age 82 years. He was born April 1, 1917 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, life member of the D.A.V. Chapter 9, retired from Burn-Rite Chemicals as a Sales Manager and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Wolverton spent much of his life renovating and trading antique motors and his enjoyment in this hobby created many personal relationships with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Katherine S. Wolverton; one son and daughter-in-law: Richard Allen (Rick) and Trixie Mantyla of Brimley, MI; six grandchildren: James, Timothy (Sandy), Jeff, Kimberly, Linnea and Jessica Mantyla; three great-grandchildren: Taylor, Madison and Aaron Mantyla; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Sarah (Sally) Barber of Lansing, Virginia and Ross Atkinson of Bay City; two brothers and two sisters-in- law: Donald and Sally Wolverton of Bay City and James and Gerri Wolverton of TN; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Orin A. and Abbie Wolverton and one brother-in-law, George Dean. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Monday, May 24, 1999 at 1:00 P.M. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Charles Curtis with private intermenty in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Edgar L. Newton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 20, 1999. He was a devoted husband, father and community activist and leader. Edgar was the Past President of the Bay City Branch NAACP for 18 years. He was the Past President and Past Lt. Governor of Kiwanis International Michigan District 19. He served on several Boards of Directors around the Tri-City area some of which include Tri County Fair Housing Center, Bangor Downs Development, GDP Meat Processors and The American Red Cross. Mr. Newton had enhanced the Bay City Community by assuming a strong leadership role to family and church. He has served as Trustee, Deacon and Church Treasurer at Second Baptist Church. He was employed by Saginaw Delphi for 24 years. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, carpentry, gardening and photography. Surviving are his wife of 41 years Shirley (Bobbie); two sons and one daughter: Michael Handy of Natchitoches LA; Darold and Mikki Newton both of bay City, MI; his mother, Mrs. Carrier Carter of Alexandria, LA; eight grandchildren; 18 brothers and sisters; a host of Aunts, Uncles and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, May 25, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. at the Second Baptist Church. Pastor Seth Doyle will officiate. A private intermenty will be conducted later at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Edward J. Verhanovitz, age 84, of Bay City, died April 8, 1999 in Ellenton, FL. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection was held on April 13, 1999 at St. Francis Cabrini, Parrish, FL. Born in Swoyerville, PA, Mr. Verhanovitz moved to Bay City in 1956. He was a retired salesman and an avid fisherman. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Irene; two daughters: Irene (Kenneth) Pake of Philadelphia, Mary (Brian) Bach of Clawson; three sons: Thomas (Janet) of Adrian, James (Patricia) of Saginaw and Michael (Lisa) of Potomac, MD; two sisters, Sophie Tobias of Luzeren, PA and Victoria Murphy of Troy; a brother, John, of Swoyerville, PA; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, May 29, 1999 at St. Joseph's Church, 1005 Third St., Bay City with Fr. Raymond Fron officiating. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph's 150th Year Anniversary Fund and the American Heart Association.

Age 79, died early Saturday Morning, May 21, 1999 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw following a brief illness. She was born August 11, 1919 in Frankfort, New York, daughter of the late Francis and Angela (Szcznesniak) Stolarczyk. She was married to Dr. John J. Zuzga Sr., D.O. on December 28, 1941 in Utica, NY. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1995. Virginia was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing and also the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Sebewaing Post #293. Surviving are two sons: Dr. John J. Zuzga, Jr., D.O. and his wife, Diane, Orland Park, IL: Daniel D. and his wife, Lynn Zuzga, Sebewaing; six grandchildren: Jessica, Thadeus, Daniel, Brian, Jonathan, Kristina; also two sisters: Sophie Barger, Bad Axe; Mary Baboweiz, Ilion, NY; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Frank, William and Stan Stolark. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM Monday, May 24, 1999 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Fr. Stanley Surman will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Dinkel- Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing from Noon to 9 PM Sunday. There will be a Rosary at the funeral home at 7 PM Sunday. She will lie in state at the church from 10 AM Monday until the time of service. Donna L. Benjamin, age 73 of Alger, passed away Saturday at Bay Shores Nursing Care Center. She had lived in Alger for the past six years, formerly of West Branch. Mrs. Benjamin attended Judson Baptist Church in Prescott and was a member of the Monday and Wednesday Ladies Golf League at the West Branch Country Club. She is survived by her children: Mary Ann Smith of Hagerstown, IN, Roy Benjamin of Bay City, Philip Benjamin of Parker, CO, Adeline Klacking-Schroeder of Antigo, WI and Adam Benjamin of Raleigh, NC; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: June Corbin of Brooksville, FL and Betty Cottle of Auburn and two brothers: Charles Latter of Vero Beach, FL and Fred Latter of Alger. Christopher Dean Greene, age 40, of Dowagiac, and formerly of Eau Claire, died at 12:30 A.M. on Sunday, May 23, 1999 at his home of an acute myocardial infarction. Christopher was born December 25, 1958 in St. Johns, MI to Robert L. and Margaret "Peggy" (Kiesel) Greene. He was currently employed as an auto mechanic by St. Joe Auto, St. Joseph, MI and he was a member of the National Rifle Association. On April 7, 1984, he married Karen "Ann" Daly in Grand Rapids and she survives. They had lived in Dowagiac since 1991, moving from Eau Claire. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents, Robert and Peggy Greene of Bay City; his paternal grandfather, J.C. Greene of Bay City; his mother-in-law, Nina Daly of Grand Rapids; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Frances Kiesel, paternal grandmother, Helen Greene and his father-in-law, Robert Daly. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 26, 1999 at the Bowerman Funeral Home, Eau Claire.
