Passed away January 1, 2000 at his home. Age 76 years. Virgil was born February 10, 1923 in Beaver, Michigan. He was married to the former Laura E. Wendt on June 8, 1946 at St. Bridgets in Midland. He was employed by the Monroe Steel Castings & North Star Steel in Monroe. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Supporter of Camboni Missionaries, an avid gardner, carpenter and wildlife lover. He is survived by his sons: Ernest M. (Mary Ann) LaVasseur of Linwood, MI, Timothy L. (Dianna) LaVasseur of Petersburg, Dale F. LaVasseur of Monroe; daughters: Mrs. Edward (Jackie) Larner of Monroe, Mrs. Paul (Winnie) Webb Costello of Monroe, Mrs. William (Theresa I.) Berry II of Monroe; 1 brother: James LaVasseur of Essexville; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, Maxim LeVasseur and Marjorie Heirtier, 2 brothers, LeRoy and Donald, 2 sisters, Fidelis Lambert & Delima Murphy. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary's Church, Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. Vistitation hours will be on Monday from 5-9 P.M. and on Tuesday from 12 noon-9 P.M. with Rosary at 7 P.M. on Tuesday. Rev. John LaCassee will officiate. Died Sunday, January 2, 2000 at the Cartwright Hospice Center, Saginaw. Age 80 years. He was born August 6, 1919 in Bay City to Stanislaus and Blanche (Biskupski) Stachowski. He married Mary Kanyo at St. Mary's Church, Pinconning on August 17, 1946, she survives him. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Newcor Co. and retired in 1982. Norbert was a member of St. Stanislaus Kosta Church, Senior Citizens, St. George Society, P.L.A.V. Post 162. He enjoyed roller skating until he was 80 years old and also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and his bicycle. Surviving besides his wife Mary, are five children: Janet (Daniel) Robinson, James (Joan) Stachowski, Charles Stachowski, Thomas (Julie) Stachowski and Paul Stachowski; thirteen grandchildren: Cheryl, Terry, and Scott Robinson, Matt, Jennifer and Sarah Stachowski, Lisa (Dean) Petrosky, Katie (Ray) Stark, Kory, Kelly and Tyler Stachowski, Jill and Kevin Stachowski; five great-grandchildren: Denzell, Destini, Olivia, Isaiah and Blake; three sisters: Caroline Stachowski, Alice Stachowski, and Tillie Dombkowski, eleven brothers-in- law and sisters-in-law: Rosy Martin, Steve (Lila) Kanyo, Mike (Elaine) Kanyo, Betsy Hutek, Joe (Nancy) Kanyo, Nan (Stan) Strelecki, Kit (Lawrence) Ernst, Pauline (Lee) Bargaron, Jeanne (Charlie) Piotrowski, John (Chris) Kanyo and Sue (Steve) Skrzysinski. Many nieces and nephews. Norbert was predeceased by three brothers: Sylvester, Eugene and Victor Stachowski; two brother-in-laws: Barney Martin and Stanley Hutek. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Rev. Fr. William J. Rutkowski will officiate with burial in St. Patrick Cemetery under the Auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at Ambrose Funeral Home, Tuesday, 1:00 - 5:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 PM and on Wednesday in church, 9:00 AM until the time of Mass. Members of the Senior Citizens will pray the Rosary at 2:00 PM Tuesday and there will also be a Parish Wake Service on Tuesday at 7:30 PM, both from the Funeral Home. Mrs. Weiler, age 78 years, passed away December 31, 1999 at Bay Shores Nursing Care Center. She was born in Bay City on October 5, 1921 to the late Robert and Marian (Jones) Heglund. On February 16, 1943 she married Robert G. Weiler and he preceded her in death in 1978. Mrs. Weiler was a very active member of the Central High School Booster Club. Survivors include 2 children: Mike (Julie) Weiler of Bay City and Pam Weiler of Anchorage, Alaska; 4 grandchildren: Jeff and Holli Weiler, Tami (Jeff) Trotter and Keri Potzger, as well as a sister, Joyce Patterson of Essexville. The Family will be present at Penzien & Steele Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-9 PM to receive visitors. No service is scheduled and private intermenty will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Beecher was taken to his heavenly home Sunday morning, January 2, 2000 with his family at his side. Age 71 years. He was born February 8, 1928 in Caro, MI and has resided in Bay City most of his life. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #169, F.O.E. Aries 1010 and was past secretary. He was a member of the Herters Key Board Society and past president, a member of the Utility Workers of America Local #144 and retired from Consumers Energy. He is survived by his wife the former Beatrice L. Wells whom he married June 24, 1948; four daughters and four sons-in-law: Diane and Elliott Sacharow of Florida, Susan and Gerald Klopf, Linda and Joseph Gentle and Peggy and Dea Pockrandt all of Bay City; ten grandchildren: Christopher, Jeremy, Jamie, Michelle, Kelli, Jason, Scott, Stephanie, Samantha and Matthew and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father: Henry Ward Beecher, his mother, Aura (Russell) Mead and one brother, Henry Beecher. The Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspney with the Rite of Committal following in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Florence B. Brysselbout, age 97 years, died Saturday morning, January 1, 2000 in the Bay Medical Facility. She was born to the late Frank and Blanche (LaFleur) Sabourin on August 4, 1902 in Bay City where she resided all of her life. Florence was employed with Autolite before her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, the St. Anne Society, 4th Division of Bay City Women's Club, Autolite Retirees, and the League of Catholic Men and Women. Survivors include her daughter, Joan (Norman) VanWormer of Vassar; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 6 great- grandchildren. Florence was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Adamson and Henri Brysselbout; three daughters: Therese Malik, Blanche Rafalski, and Monica Gromeck. Mrs. Diehl, age 52 years passed away Sunday, January 2 at Bay Special Care following a brief illness. She was born in Flint, on April 7, 1947 to the late Louis and Kathleen (Caswell) Vasalek. She married William Diehl on June 3, 1968 in Bay City and he survives her. She was employed at Bay Medical Center in the Outpatient Department. Surviving besides her husband is her brother Fred and Jean Vasalek of Pt. Austin; and their children: Becky Vasalek of Flint, and Fred II and Martha Vasalek of Vassar, and Trey Vasalek; and special friends Jim and Sandy Paten, Judie and Debbie. Vera O. Hoppe died Friday, December 31, 1999 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. The daughter of Erastus and Sarah O. (Ingles) Osborne was born in West Branch, April 6, 1917. She was employed at Prestolite Manufacturing Co. in Bay City. She lived in West Branch and Bay City most of her life. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4537 of West Branch. Surviving are son Kenneth and Shirley Ryan, Linwood, MI; grandson, Robert and Maureen Ryan, West Branch, MI; granddaughter, Pamela Ryan, Lake Worth, FL; sisters: Hariett Farley, West Branch, MI and Dollye Tibbits, New Mexico and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters: Wilhelmine Short and Marjorie Zimmer and brothers: Clinton "Red" Osborne and Russell Osborne.
