Mrs. Meyer, age 79 years, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 29, 2000 at Bay Medical Center. She was born in Bay City on February 1, 1920 to the late Michael and Casmira (Kalinowski) Zielinski. On March 9, 1940 she married Samuel B. Meyer in Bay City and he preceded her in death in 1989. Survivors include 4 children: Mary Ann (James) Forbes of Reese, William S. (Linda) Meyer of Bay City, Alice Meyer of Bay City and Richard M. Meyer of Bay City; 9 grandchildren: David P. Fetter, Darin S. Fetter, Jamie A. Forbes, Molly Meyer, Laurie Meyer, Tricia Meyer, Amy Meyer, Jason Meyer and Michael; a brother, 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Zielinski of Bay City, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Penzien & Steele Funeral Home, Pastor Hamilton Roth will officiate with private burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Miss Piasecki died Friday, January 28, 2000 at Bay Special Care Center, age 79 years. She was born March 3, 1920 in Bay City to Jacob and Anna (Virginski) Piasecki. Isabelle was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the League of Catholic Women & Men. Surviving are two sisters and two brothers: Mary Almond, Evelyn Piasecki, Anthony (Marie) Piasecki, all of Bay City, and John Piasecki, of Clinton Township; sister-in-law, Victoria Piasecki, of Auburn; numerous nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews. Isabelle was predeceased by one sister, Rose Gies, three brothers, Bernard, Teddy, and Frank Piasecki. Mass of Christian burial will take place 10:00 AM Monday, January 31, 2000 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Rev. Fr. William J. Rutkowski will officiate with burial in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call at Ambrose Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 PM. Isabelle will lie in state at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass. A Parish Wake Service will be held Sunday at 7:30 PM from the funeral home. Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Society will pray the Rosary Monday, 9:15 AM at church. Mrs. Sauvage died Friday morning, January 28, 2000 at her residence. Age 77 years. Henrietta was born in Detroit on August 2, 1922. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Henrietta married Earl D. Sauvage on February 15, 1946; he survives her. Besides her husband, Earl, Henrietta is also survived by her two children: Robert (Sandra) Sauvage of Bay City and Deborah (Terry) Maul of Wheeler, MI; five grandchildren: Joshua Sauvage, Kristy Sauvage, Leslie Maul, Lindsay Maul and Jared Maul; sister, Ruth Laskey of Bay City; sister-in-law, Edna Colbert of Bay City; and several nieces and nephews. Henrietta was predeceased by her father, David Colbert, mother and step-father, Clarence and Edna Laney, a sister, Katherine Connor and two brothers, William and Colin Colbert. Private family services and burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery have already taken place. Rev. Charles Beyer officiated. Passed away Thursday, January 26, 2000 at Lakeview Manor in Tawas City. Age 84. He was born April 8, 1915 in Standish Twp. Robert Savage married the former Helen Ellis in 1940 in Standish. Mr. Savage bought the C.C. Howard Funeral Home (R.O. Savage Funeral Chapel) in 1949. He sold and retired in 1974. Bob graduated from Sterling High School in 1933 and Wayne State Mortuary School in 1943. He was a member of Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church (St. John's) and was a life member of the Fr. Labory K of C Council. He was also a former member of Standish Chamber of Commerce and the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. He was a 50 Year Licensee. Bob was also very active in the Republican Party. He served as County Coroner for many years and was also a County Commissioner for one term. Mr. Savage was a member of the Original Group that started the Standish Industrial Park. Survivors are his wife, Helen; one daughter, Carol (Ralph) Cathcart of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. Rite of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 31, 2000 at 11 A.M. from Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church in Standish. Rev. Fr. James Fitzpatrick will officiate with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 11 A.M. to 9 P.M. on Sunday with a 4:30 P.M. Grace Savage, age 72, of Santa Monica, California and formerly of Bay City, MI passed away Thursday, January 27, 2000 at her home. She was born October 12, 1927 to the late Joseph and Helen Meyer. She was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Savage in May of 1978. She formerly owned and operated Paul's Restaurant in Bay City for over 17 years. She is survived by her daughter, Jennine (Val) Switala; four grandsons: Danny (Dorie) Gee of Mansfield, OH, Jassen Schweitzer of Ft. Myers, FL, William (Bill) Schweitzer of Ft. Myers, FL and Brad Switala of Bay City; five great-grandchildren: Tiffany, Tom, Theresa, Brady and Logan. Surviving brothers: George Meyer, Joseph Meyer Jr., Emery (Virginia) Nestor, William (Sue) Meyer, and Donald (Frances) Meyer; sisters: Helen Malecki, Madeline (Wayne) Wheeler, Irene Jaynes, Ruth (Kenneth) Irion; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by brothers: John Meyer, Frank Meyer, Steve Meyer and sisters: Ethel Ryers, Julia Meyer, Marion Worden and Mary Fischer. She will be deeply missed by her family and a close companion, Joe Chaevez. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2000 at 11 A.M. at St. Hyacinth Church. Fr. John Joseph Taylor, age 78, died Saturday morning, January 29, 2000 in Bay Special Care Center with his family by his side. He was born to the late William and Helen (Superzynski) Taylor on October 17, 1921 in Bay City and had resided in Bay County all of his life. John was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, 1st Marine Division, serving our country during WWII with the rank of corporal in the South Pacific Campaign. He was a salesman for Kirchman Brothers for over 30 years before retirement. John was a member of St. Hyacinth Church, 1st Marine Division Association and enjoyed being with his family and traveling. On May 3, 1947 John married the former Geraldine Krzyminski in St. Hedwig Church, Bay City. She survives him along with their six children: Gloria (David) Dean of Grand Blanc, John Jr. (Pam) Taylor of Bay City, Robert (Vickie) Taylor of Bay City, Tom Taylor and Steve Styes of Northville, Rick (Pam) Taylor of Freeland, Tammy (Terence) O'Leary of Freeland; 13 grandchildren: Patrick Dominowski of Denver, CO, Michael Dominowski of Minneapolis, MN, Amanda Dean of Grand Blanc, Christopher, Ryan and Jennifer Taylor of Bay City, Stacey Taylor of Grand Rapids, Jason Taylor of Bay City, Ashley, Kelsey, Erica Taylor, all of Freeland, Brittany and Madison O'Leary of Freeland; two great-grandchildren: Mitchell Taylor and Jade Taylor Diaz of Bay City; his sister, Marjorie (Walter) Maze of Bay City; brother, William Taylor; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Georgia (Marion) Krzyminski, Loretta (Fred) Krzyminski, and Betty (Ray) Dabrowski; several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Lawrence Taylor. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at 10:00 AM in St. Hyacinth Church. Mr. Taylor will lie in state Tuesday in church after 9:00 AM. Rev. Gerald F. Kukla will preside and entombment will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Mausoleum, Military Rites will be provided under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Elsie A. Brown, age 86, of Rose City, passed away at Lakeview Manor in Tawas on Saturday. Mrs. Brown had lived in Rose City since 1990 and was formerly of Mancelona. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary #8684. Mrs. Brown is survived by her children: William (Elaine) Brown of Prescott, Samuel (Patsy) Brown and Robert (Gloria) Brown, both of Bay City and Joyce (Robert) Sharrow of West Branch; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters: Lena Illig of Millington, Blanche Knor of Copemish and Kay Riley of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel, sisters: Mary Farley, Effie Cowles, Mable Bott, Onie Heimbach and Alyce Haight and her brothers: Robert Frasher, Jim Frasher, Lee Frasher and Harry Frasher.
