Hutchins, Norman (Bruce) Sr.
Essexville, Michigan and has lived here most of his life. He married the former Patricia Hall; she survives him. Mr. Hutchins worked for General Motors of Flint. He attended Delta College where he received a degree in Industrial Supervision and Business Management. Mr. Hutchins was a member of the Saginaw Valley Kennel Club where he served on the Executive Board and was a well-known breeder and exhibitor of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. He enjoyed hunting, car shopping and family outings. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church of Essexville. Surviving besides his wife, Patricia, he leaves five children: Bradley Hutchins at home, Debra (Paul) French of Decatur, MI, Norman "Buzz" (Cindy) Hutchins Jr. of Edwardsburg, MI, John Hutchins of Flint, Brian (Shannon) Hutchins of Columbia, Michigan
Margarita C. Janke, age 97 years, died Monday, January 31, 2000 in Bay Medical Center. She was born September 15, 1902 to the late Pedro and Manuela (Armas) Brito in Havana, Cuba and has resided in the Bay City area since 1927. Mrs. Janke was a member of St. Joseph Church, the St. Anne Society, the Legion of Mary, and the League of Catholic Women and Men. She was married to Harry G. Janke who preceded her in death on July 12, 1966. She is survived by her two sons and their wives: Louis and Esther Janke and Richard and Melissa Janke, all of Bay City; her daughter and husband, Carmelita and Joseph Whyte of Pinconning; 16 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, John C. Janke on May 7, 1942 and her grandson, Joel Janke. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, February 3, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Church. Rev. Dale A. Orlik will preside and intermenty will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church Development Fund. The St. Anne Society will pray the Rosary Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. in the Trahan Chapel. The Vigil Prayer Service will be Wednesday at 7:30 P.M. in the Trahan Chapel. Kernstock, Norman G.
Auburn, Michigan Medical Center in Midland after an extended illness, age 86 years. Norman was born the son of the late John and Anna (Hammerbacher) Kernstock April 1, 1913 in Monitor Township and had resided in this area all his life. He was a self-employed electrician for many years, farmed, was a member of AAL, a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Monitor and served on various committees at church. He was a devoted family man and loved his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. On June 27, 1936 in St. John's Lutheran Church of Amelith, he married the former Hilda Trautner; she survives him. Also surviving are four daughters: Lois (Gerald) Wieck of Auburn, Nancy (Robert) DeBoer of Caro, Norma (Richard) Atencio of Pine, CO and Carol (Kurt) Bickel of Orlando, FL; nine grandchildren: Cari Wieck, Shelley (Mike) Blackie, Dirk and Danica DeBoer, Sarah and Emily Bickel, Leigh (Daniel) Souter, Meg and Laura Atencio and one great-granddaughter, Karissa Blackie; and one sister, Gertrude Forester of Bay City. Norman was also predeceased by a daughter, Judith, one sister, Edna Engerer and one brother, Erwin Kernstock. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 5, 2000 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Monitor. Rev. David F. Sherry will officiate with burial to follow in Home Cemetery, Bay City. Norman's family will receive friends at the AUBURN CHAPEL of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., on Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 P.M., and then on Saturday morning, Norman will lie in state at the CHURCH from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Bennie A. Aikens Sr., age 70, of Mio, MI died January 28, 2000 at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City, MI. He lived in Mio, MI for 21 years, moving here from Gillette, Wyoming as a truckdriver. He is survived by his wife, Donas (Light) Aikens; seven sons; three daughters; five step- daughters; 29 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two sisters, both of Bay City. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters, two sons, one daughter, one granddaughter and one great grandson. Memorial Services are to be held on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. at the Orr Funeral Home, with Rev. Clarence Elder presiding. Mrs. Schultz was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, who died in 1964 and is survived by her sons: James, retired in San Antonio, California; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In memory of this family, significant contributions have been made to the First Presbyterian Church, the Methodist Church and the YMCA. She was a graduate of the University of Michigan
Elaine Houthoofd-Spannagel, age 80 years, passed away Wednesday evening, February 2, 2000 at Bay Special Care. She was born in Wisner Township on March 23, 1919. Mrs. Spannagel was a lifelong resident of Fairgrove. She enjoyed playing cards and being with her family. Surviving are five special nieces: Marlene Walraven of Harrison, Corrine Jacobs of Bay City, Nancy Willett, Bernice Wiergowski, and Mary Ann Greania, all of Fairgrove; several other nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Florence Wagner of Reese; a brother-in-law, Henry Naert of Fairgrove. Her husbands, Michael Androl and Henry Spannagel, five sisters and five brothers preceded Mrs. Spannagel in death. The Funeral Service will be Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Stapish East (Essexville). Rev. Carl G. Avery will officiate. Interment will be in Wisner Township Cemetery. Friends may call at Stapish East on Friday between the hours of 12 o'clock Noon and 8:30 o'clock in the evening and on Saturday morning from 10 o'clock until the time of service. Zelzenock, Jacob D.
Sebewaing, Florida; six grandchildren: Jody Lynn and Troy Stricker, Jason Lee Zelzenock, Jerry and Terry Zelzenock Jr. Allen Zelzenock, Sara Firebaugh and David Omera and Amanda Firebaugh; also, two great-grandchildren, Sappha and Caleb.
