Gertrude E. Eau Claire, age 90 years, passed away Saturday morning, February 12, 2000 at Bay Shores Nursing Care Center. She was born on November 18, 1909 in Bay City. Mrs. Eau Claire was a lifelong resident of Bay City. She was a member of St. Joseph Church. The former Gertrude McGuinness was married to Leo Eau Claire on May 25, 1936. He died on January 17, 1963. Surviving are three children, Elaine Myers and her husband Wayne of Indian River, Joseph Eau Claire and his wife Carolyn of Raleigh, North Carolina, Thomas Eau Claire and his wife Barbara of Bay City; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special niece, Mary Ellen Roedel and her husband Edward of Bay City and several other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Eau Claire was preceded in death by her sister, Marge Ames and her husband Kenneth, a brother, John McGuinness and his wife Helen. The Funeral Service will be Monday evening at 7:30 o' clock from Stapish West. Rev. Fr. Raymond S. Fron of St. Joseph Church will preside. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Kawkawlin. Memorials are available at the funeral home for Heartland Hospice, Bay Shores Nursing Care Center and St. Joseph Church. John D. Sowders, Sr., age 76 years, passed away Friday evening, February 11, 2000 at Bay Medical Center. He was born in Bay City on May 15, 1923 and was a life long resident. Mr. Sowders is retired from Valley Manufacturing. He was married to the late Wanda Lesperance on July 24, 1943. She died on October 24, 1991. Surviving are three children; John D. Sowders, Jr. Patricia Ann Schuback, Bonnie Maria Smith , all of Bay City; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers; Arthur "Heavy " Sowders of Bently, Ernest Sowders of Bay City, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Sowders has a daughter, Karen Darlene Sowders, who died on July 14, 1966. The Funeral Service will be Monday afternoon a 1 o'clock from Stapish West. Rev. Fr. Charles L. Ganley will officiate. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Mr. Fenska died Tuesday, February 8, 2000 at Bay Medical Center, age 63 years. He was born to the late Harold L. and Catherine (Frank) Fenska on October 26, 1936 in Bay City. He retired from Graphic Metals in 1997 after 35 years of service. He attended St. James Church. Surviving are a brother, Richard (Sue) Fenska of Lakeland, Florida; an aunt, Bernice Fenska of Bay City; and many cousins. Per Michael's wishes, cremation has taken place. Mrs. Clara B. Green, age 72 years, formerly of Standish, MI, died Saturday, February 12, 2000 at TenderCare Nursing Facility, of Mt. Pleasant, MI. Mrs. Green was born on May 19, 1927 in Grayling, Michigan the daughter of Edward and Thressa (Geister) Wainwright. She was married to Paul W. Green on April 12, 1951 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He died February 18, 1977. She was a member of Standish First Methodist Church. Surviving are 2 duaghters: Mrs. Frank (Susan) Illig of Standish, Mary Lincoln of Standish, 2 sons: Edward Green of Pinconning, MI and Robert and Debbie Green of Sterling, MI; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Lillian Bissonette of Fenton, Lauina Conrad of Flint, and Ethel Kline of St. Cloud, FL, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday February 14, 2000 from 12 noon until 9 pm. at the R.O. Savage Funeral Chapel, Standish, MI. She was born to the late Charles and Martha (Wolfe) Cole on May 26, 1905 in Peck, MI and resided in Bay County for most of her life. Gladys was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bently, MI. Surviving family members include her four daughters and two sons: Adella Nelson, Joyce Oswald, Faye Revord, Linda (Bob) Cunningham, Theron (Carol) Monroe, Dale (Helen) Monroe; 22 grandchildren 47 great-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister Martha (Roy) O Hare; son-in-law, Ervin Rikle. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Theron; two sons Charles and Ellis Monroe, her daughter Lois Rikle; 6 grandchildren, her sister and 2 brothers. Mr. Gwizdala died Thursday evening, February 17, 2000 at Saginaw St. Mary's Hospital. Age 79 years. Son of the late Louis and Mary (Beckman) Gwizdala was born August 19, 1920 in Munger. He married the former Shirley Ann (Neering) January 31, 1942 in St. John the Evangelist Church of Essexville; she survives him. Andy was employed as the supervisor of the former Cooley Foundry; he later worked for Metzler Lincoln/Mercury Auto dealership and retired from Michigan Bell Telephone in 1981 after 25 years of service. He was currently working for Ambrose/Squires Funeral Home for the past 16 years. Mr. Gwizdala was a member of the P.L.A.V. Post #162. He served as secretary for the Last Man's Club which dissolved in 1994. Andy was a member of the K of C St. Stephen's Council #4102 and the Bishop Murphy Assembly Fourth Degree. He enjoyed golfing at Spring Valley Golf Course for many years and also bowling, where he was appointed Associate Director of the Bay City Bowling Association. He also enjoyed hunting. Surviving besides his wife, Shirley, he leaves six children and their spouses: Andy (Bonnie) Gwizdala, Louie (Marian) Gwizdala, Virginia Roupe, Ben (Debbie) Gwizdala, Mark (Debbie) Gwizdala, all of Bay City, Ron (Barb) Gwizdala of Saginaw; 22 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Marcella Gwizdala. He was predeceased by four daughters: Mary Louise, Daralene Joann, Victoria Lynn and Andrea; five brothers and three sisters: Art, Frank, Leon, Edward, Maurice, Jean Williams, Irene Graham and Dolly Gokey. The Mass of Christian Burial, along with the Rite of Committal Service, will be celebrated Monday, February 21, 2000 at 2 P.M. from Holy Trinity Church. Rev. Fr. Leonard F. Wilkuski will officiate with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
