Casey, Loretta Alice (Buechler)
Auburn, Michigan
God saw that she was getting tired and a cure was not to be; So He put his arms around her and whispered "Come with Me." With tearful eyes, we watched her suffer and saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts when He took her, but God only takes the best. Loretta Alice (Buechler) Casey, age 79, of Auburn, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, February 22, 2000 at her daughter's home. Loretta was born May 29, 1920 to George and Kunigunda (Zink) Buechler in Beaver Township, Bay County, where she resided most of her life. She married William A. Casey on December 3, 1943. He predeceased her in October, 1980. She was a dedicated LPN, affectionately known as "MA" by those who worked with her. She was a member of MLPNA, retiring from MidMichigan Regional Medical Center in 1982. She was a U.S. Army WAC during WWII. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Beaver, active in Ladies of Zion, and an avid quilter for Lutheran World Relief. She is survived by her children: Ann Marie Casey of Midland, Dennis (Gloria) Casey of Bay City, Bert "Al" (Joy) Casey of Midland, George (Sue) Casey of Auburn and Kathleen Kloha and her special friend, Melvin Garchow of Bay City. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Steven and Michael Casey, Greta (William) Arndt and Garth M. Casey, Brian and Amy Casey, Hans Kloha and his friend, Renee Torka and Melissa Kloha; and step- grandchildren: Sarah and Darrin Waldie. Also, her great- grandchildren: Alexander Arndt, Jared Kloha and his brother, Tyler Torka. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Buechler and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Floyd J. Buechler and grandson, Daniel E. Casey. Funeral Services for Loretta will take place at 11:30 A.M. Friday, February 25, 2000 from Beaver Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Douglas Stowe will officiate with burial in Beaver Zion Cemetery. Loretta's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith- Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler, from 6-8 P.M. today and on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and at the church on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until time of service. Chase, Angeline A.

Mrs. Chase died Tuesday, February 22, 2000 at Bay Medical Care Facility, age 85 years. She was born January 7, 1915 in Ganges, Michigan. She married Donald A. Chase on January 9, 1938; he predeceased her on March 29, 1986. She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Bay City. Surviving are her four children: Kenneth Chase and friend, Kelly, Beverly (Jack) Gottschling, Shirley Lorenz-Chase, all of Bay City and Connie (Tom) Birch, Essexville; special daughter-in- law and family friend, Janet Chase; 11 grandchildren: Kenneth, Jamie, Kevin, Amy Jo, David, Susan, James, Donald, Jeff, Michelle and Greg; 12 great-grandchildren; two nieces and four nephews. Angeline was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Shivley. Funeral and Committal Services will take place 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 24, 2000 at Squires Funeral Home. Rev. Charles E. Curtis will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Diener, Jacob "Jake"
Munger, Michigan
Died Tuesday afternoon, February 22, 2000 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro. Age 95 years. He was born July 3, 1904 in Reese, MI, son of the late John and Anna (Mertz) Diener. He married the former Esther Oeder March 6, 1927. She predeceased him May 3, 1999. Mr. Diener farmed all of his life in Merritt Township, Bay County and was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese. Surviving is his grandson and granddaughter: Clayton Palm and his wife, Heiki of Vassar and Mary Morley and her husband, Randy, of Reese; seven great- grandchildren: Brandon, Nathan, Ryan and Gina Palm and Justin, Kenton, and Calvin Morley. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Ilene Dreffs of Saginaw. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Walter Palm and by one son, two brothers and seven sisters. Funeral and Committal Services will take place at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 25, 2000 from the Christ Lutheran Church, Reese. Rev. Dennis B. Smith will officiate with burial to take place in the Blumfield Township Cemetery. Mr. Diener's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith- Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Thursday from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. and at the church on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until time of services. Glasser, Eleanor Francis
formerly of Caro and Unionville
Eleanor Francis Glasser, age 79, died on February 21, 2000 at the Willowbrook Nursing Home, Lake Mills, WI where she had lived since November of 1998. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2000 at 11 A.M. at the Unionville Moravian Church, Unionville, MI with the Rev. Terry Weavil officiating, assisted by her brother, the Rev. Gene Glasser of Lake Mills, WI and her nephew, the Rev. David Glasser of Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 A.M. at the church. Eleanor was born on January 31, 1921 in Wisner, MI the daughter of Benton A. and Leta B. (Francis) Glasser. She lived in the silent world of the deaf her entire life, but was able to communicate with her family and friends through the hand alphabet, signs and lip reading. Her senses were acute and she had an infectious, happy spirit. She could feel the sounds of music and enjoyed dancing with the vibration of musical sounds. She gave herself freely to laughter, smiles and her visits with friends. For several years, she attended the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint, MI. She lived with her parents in Wisner above the Glasser store and moved with them to their home on the shore of the Saginaw Bay at Bay Park, MI when they retired. When her father died, she moved with her mother to Wyoming, MI and later to Caro, MI. Upon the death of her mother in 1988, she returned to Wyoming, MI to live at the Holliday Care Home near her brother, Donald and his family. She moved to Lake Mills, WI in October, 1998 to the Willowbrook Nursing Home. She had been a member of The Unionville Moravian Church for most of her life. She is survived by one brother, the Rev. Gene Glasser of Lake Mills, WI and the families of her several siblings which included many nieces and nephews. Her parents; three brothers, Donald, Byron and Albert, and one sister, Laurene, predeceased her. Burial will be in the Wisner Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Unionville Moravian Church Camp Scholarship Fund.

Howard, Percy L.
Rhodes, Michigan
Mr. Howard, age 50, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2000 at Bay Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born on November 18, 1949 in Bay City. He married the former Nancy McLincha on August 24, 1968 in St. Mary's Church. She survives him. He was employed at Magline Corporation for 30 years and was an avid outdoorsman. Surviving besides his wife, Nancy, are his sons: Brian L. Howard and friend, Amy Forgette and Jason R. Howard, both of Rhodes; his parents, Roy Howard Sr. and Elizabeth (Offenbecker) Howard, both of Rhodes; brothers and sisters: Elizabeth Ann (George) LaFave of Bentley, Rosemarie (Leonard) Goodman of Standish, Roy Jr. "Butch" (Deb) Howard of Otisville, Delores McMahon of Charlotte, NC, Joe Howard of Standish, Ed (Sue) Howard of Auburn, Helen Howard of Linwood, Pam (Len) Nordbeck of Midland, Paula (Keith) McPherson of Bentley and Pat (Chuck) Grose of Baldwin; 29 nieces and nephews; his father-in-law, Art McLincha; brother and sisters-in-law: Bob (Pat) McLincha of Bentley, Junior (Connie) McGillen of Rhodes and Bruce Collier Sr.; two godchildren: Bruce Collier Jr. and Toni McGillen; nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother-in- law, Ellen McLincha and two nephews, Tristan and Ron LaFave. He will be loved and missed by all. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. from the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Avery presiding. Burial in Gibson Township Cemetery. Martha S. Lago, age 81 years, passed away Wednesday morning, February 23, 2000, at the Bay Shores Nursing Care Center. She was born in Fisherville on January 7, 1919. Mrs. Lago was a lifelong resident of the Bay City area. The former Martha Gross was married to Vern E. Lago. He died September 29, 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Rosalie Keech of Pinconning; a son, Terrance L. Smith and his wife, Carole, of Saginaw; 14 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Larry Tucker of Pinconning. The Funeral Service will be Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from Stapish West. Rev. Fr. Charles L. Ganley will officiate. The Rite of Committal will in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Friends may call at Stapish West on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 o'clock, on Friday between the hours of 2 and 9 o'clock and on Saturday morning from 9 o'clock until the time of service. Kingston, Michigan
Michael D. Lich, age 22, of Kingston, died suddenly in a military-related vehicle accident Tuesday, February 22, 2000 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born August 8, 1977 in Caro to David and Mary (Dyer) Lich. Michael graduated from Caro High School in 1996. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in February, 1996, leaving Michigan in August of 1996. He served one year in Okinawa, Japan. Michael was currently stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Yuma, Arizona. His primary duties were Weapons Range Instructor and Motor Carrier Operator. He was a member of the American Legion Post #7 in Caro. He is survived by his father, David (Cheri) Lich of Kingston; mother, Mary (Jerold) Fader of Caro; sister, Michelle C. Lich of Caro; step-brothers: Mark Romain of Kingston, Mike (Cathy) Fader of Caro, Terry (Tammy) Fader of Orlando, FL; step-sister, Jody (Ronald) Traster of Wayne; nieces and nephews: Steven Michael Turner, Michael and Kaylee Traster, Heather and Travis Fader; aunts and uncles: John A. Lich of Au Gres, Dale H. (Marisia) Lich of El Paso, TX, Mary Ellen (Jim) Jacoby of Unionville, Alicia Hool of Keego Harbor, Sarah (Randy) Siebigteroth of Frankenmuth, Kathy (Eric) Smith of Chargin Falls, Ohio; and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alexander and Lydia Lich; maternal grandparents, Charles and Julia Dyer; uncle, Floyd Hool. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 28, 2000 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Caro, with Rev. Kenneth Yaroch officiating. Memorials may be made to the Caro Fire Department, Kingston Fire and Rescue, Education Fund for Steven Michael Turner or the charity of the donor's choice. The United States Marine Corps will provide the Military Honors and serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers for Michael will be the Caro High School Class of 1996. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday; 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday with a Vigil Service to be held 7:30 P.M. Sunday and on Monday from 10 to 11 A.M. in church.
