Rev. Clair L. Thompson passed away February 25, 2000, age 85. Loving husband of the late Eileen I. Thompson. Dear father of Dewey (Nelda) Thompson of Allendale, Donald (Darlene) Thompson of Big Rapids, Yvonne (James) Freed of Milford and Richard (Linda) Thompson of Brandon, Mississippi. Loving grandfather of 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Brother of the late William Thompson and Thomas Thompson. Rev. Thompson pastored churches in Prescott, Port Huron and Muskegon. Friends may call at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Sunday (today) from 1-9 P.M. Florence E. Flies, age 87 years, passed away Thursday morning, February 24, 2000, at the Bay Medical Care Facility. She was born in Pinconning on November 28, 1912. Mrs Flies lived most of her lifetime in the Bay City and Kawkawlin areas. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church. The former Florence Valley was married to William Manley Flies on February 7, 1934. He died on January 26, 1999. Surviving are four children, Charmaine (Lawrence) Pintoski of Bay City, Joyce (Gerald) Mitchell, all of Bay City, Barbara (William) Misener of Australia, Lawrence (Mary) Flies of Texas; thirteen grandchildren; a brother, LeRoy (Beverly) Valley of Pinconning; sister in law Marie Valley of Pinconning. Mrs. Flies was preceded in death by a daughter Ardith Meir and a granddaughter, Holly Mitchell. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Maria Goretti Church. Rev. Fr. James F. Gavit will preside. The rite of committal will be held in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The parish wake service will be Sunday evening at 7:30 in the funeral home. Douglas David Pacholka, 28 of Sanford, died early Friday morning, February 25, 2000. He was born on December 27, 1971 in Midland, son of Kenneth and Irene (Radosa) Pacholka. Doug attended St. Brigid Catholic School and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Mt. Pleasant in 1990. He then received a Bachelor of Science in Fishery and Wildlife Management from Lake Superior State University. He had been employed with the Illinois Natural History Survey, conducting research. Doug was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Sanford and the first Catholic Slovak Union. He had enjoyed traveling, where he met many interesting people, he was a modest individual, avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, amateur walleye tournaments, basketball and baseball which he played during high school. Surviving besides his parents Ken and Irene are his brother and sisters, Jeffry Pacholka, Michele Pacholka both of Sanford, Patricia Pacholka of San Jose, California; grandmother Minnie Pacholka of Midland and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Doug was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley in 1975, Kevin in 1987, and Wayne in 1993. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 29, 2000 from St. Brigid Catholic Church in Midland. Rev. Father Frank Voris OFM, Cap. will officiate with burial in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Doug's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, Midland this evening from 7-9 p.m., Monday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Cecelia E. Soderquist, age 81 years, died Sunday morning, February 27, 2000 at her residence. She was born to the late Francis and Rose (Auger) Byrne on October 16, 1918 in Bay City where she resided most of her life. Cecelia was a licensed cosmotologist and was employed as a hairdresser/cosmotologist for many years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, and the League of Catholic Women and Men. Surviving family members include her children: S. Theodore (Charlene) Soderquist of Taylor, MI, Thomas J. (Virginia) Soderquist of Bay City, Cecelia A. Soderquist of Bay City, and Paul F. Soderquist of Oscoda, MI; 10 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; her sister, Rosella Smith of Bay City; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Willie Jane and Betty Backelant of Bay City. Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Soderquist in May, 1998; infant daughter, Roseanna Jo Soderquist; two brothers, Norbert and Francis Byrne and two sisters, Margaret Ennis and Leona MacGuire. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Trinity Church. Cecelia will lie in state in church Wednesday after 10:00 A.M. Rev. Leonard F. Mrs. Garmen died February 27, 2000 at the Carriage House of Bay City, age 74 years. She was born September 25, 1925 in Alabaster, MI to the late Lawrence J. and Susie (Tremaine) Soucie. Edna had two marriages: Royal K. Bunting and then to Lloyd Garment; both predeceased her. Surviving are five children: Susan (James) Walker, Neil (Sandy) Bunting, Lou Ann (Grant) Meier, Patricia Bunting and Scott (Alicia) Bunting; mother-in-law, Helen Skidmore; 12 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; one sister, Ann Peers and one brother, Larry Soucie; several nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by three children, Hope Major, Kenneth and Robin Bunting. Per Mrs. Garment's wishes cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at a later. Loving husband and father passed away Sunday, February 27, 2000. Age 61 years. He was born February 19, 1939 in West Virginia and had served in the U.S. Air Force. David married Deborah D. Christie on December 28, 1990. She survives him. He was employed by Consumers Power for 22 years. Surviving besides his wife, Deborah, are two stepsons: Mark Van Wormer and Jason Sharar, both of Saginaw; his mother, Roxie Lesher, West Virginia; three sisters and five brothers; David's father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Donna Christie, Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his father, Cary Lesher and by two sisters. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N.
