Mary Lou Priebe

Mary Lou Priebe, 73, of Spring Lake died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at a local hospital.
She was born June 28, 1929 to Walter L. and Alice (DeWinne) Mitchell in Mishawaka, Ind.; and married Eugene C. Priebe on May 13, 1950 in South Bend, Ind.
Mrs. Priebe has been an area resident since moving here from South Bend in 1957. She was a homemaker and formerly a library assistant at Loutit Library and Spring Lake High School's library. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion-Charles Conklin Post 28 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Priebe was a Democrat who took a strong interest in local and national politics, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene "Gene;" daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Wydeck of Grand Haven; son, Michael Priebe of San Francisco, Calif.; three grandchildren: Christine McCartney and her fiancé Jeff Humphreys, Janice (Chad) Notenbaum, and Robert Wydeck Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Austin Notenbaum; a sister, Carol Ann (James) Snyder of Deland, Fla.; sister-in-law, Margaret Mitchell of South Bend, Ind.; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert L. Mitchell, and her parents.
Arrangements are being handled by the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake.
A funeral service for Mrs. Priebe will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake with Rev. Anthony Vainavicz as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Warner-Baird Library Fund.

Thomas Archambeau
Former owner of Great Lakes Equipment Co.
Thomas O. Archambeau, 82, of Ferrysburg and formerly of Muskegon, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002.
He was born in Negaunee on July 25, 1920, to John and Ethel (Roberts) Archambeau, and married the former Dorothy Sandven on May 16, 1942, in Muskegon.
Mr. Archambeau served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the owner of Great Lakes Equipment Co. for 25 years and then worked at Grand Haven Stamp Products until retiring in 1985. He was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church and Muskegon Country Club. Mr. Archambeau enjoyed golf, bird-watching, reading, music and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Thomas (Jill) Archambeau of Okemos; and two granddaughters, Kristin and Stephanie.
Arrangements are being handled by Clock Funeral Home of Muskegon.
Service: Friday, November 29, 2002, 11 a.m. at the Clock Chapel with Rev. Denise Downs officiating. Visitation: Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials: Hospice of North Ottawa Community and Ottawa County Humane Society.

Frank Zant, Jr.
Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II
Frank Zant, Jr., 76, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002.
He was born in Holland on Dec. 8, 1925 to Frank and Agnes (Fitzpatrick) Zant and married the former Emma Lou Bond on Nov. 8, 1957 in Hart.
Mr. Zant had been employed as a laborer at Oldberg Manufacturing. He was also employed by Teledyne Continental Motors in Muskegon, Gardner-Denver of Grand Haven and the National Guard in Grand Haven.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, VFW Post 2326 and American Legion Post 289. He also enjoyed perch fishing from the pier, camping and coin collecting. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Lou of Spring Lake; four daughters, Caren (Gene) Fann of Spring Lake; Mary Ann (Bob) Kerridge of Spring Lake; Cindy (Steve) Rosso of Grand Haven; Debra Christian and her friend, Skip Brown of Grand Haven; six grandchildren, one great-grandson; four step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry (Judy) Zant of Spring Lake and Ron (Phyllis) Zant of Norton Shores; three sisters, Mary Kohnke of Grand Haven; Bonnie (Don) Chittenden of Nunica; Darlene (Leon) Major of Grand Haven and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Don Paul Zant.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Clock Funeral Home of Grand Haven.
The funeral Mass for Mr. Frank Zant, Jr., will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Anthony Vainavicz officiating. Interment at Spring Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Clock Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
William Ruhl
William A. Ruhl, 61, of Spring Lake died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon.
Arrangements will be announced by VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home of Spring Lake.
Marion Niemi
Enjoyed quilting
Marion R. Niemi, 79, of Spring Lake died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at a local hospital.
She was born in Detroit on March 3, 1923 to Eldin and Rose (Stowe) Plain, and married Arvid Niemi on April 5, 1947 in Detroit.
Mrs. Niemi had been a homemaker and she enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include her husband, Arvid; three sons: Tom (Karen) Niemi of DeWitt, Iowa, Ken (Cheryl) Niemi of Highland Park, N.J., and Fred (Laura) Niemi of Cary, N.C.; daughter, Becky (Jeff) Addison of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren: Paul, Jennifer, Sarah, Elena, Amelia, Julia, Hillary and Heather; sister, Joyce Near of St. Mary's, Ontario, Canada; and brother, Frank Plain. Mrs. Niemi was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fred; and sister, Shirley.

Sali Daane Osborn
A memorial service for Sali Daane Osborn, 46, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2002 at Lee Chapel at Lake Forest Cemetery with Chaplain Carol Flietstra officiating. Sali died Sept. 11, 2002 after a 10 year battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place and interment of cremains will follow the services. Sali touched many lives in her short time here on earth and she will be sadly missed for her sense of humor and ready smile. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland Home.

Lester Knoll
Retired from Western Machine Tool Works
Lester Knoll, 96, of Holland, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at Resthaven Care Center.
He was a member of Central Park Reformed Church, and retired from Western Machine Tool Works.
Mr. Knoll was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Eberdene, in 2001, his son, Bob Knoll in 1941, his daughter Sally Knoll in 1946, and grandson, Terry Knoll in 1989.
Survivors include his children, Elwood and Gladys Knoll of Grand Haven; Blaine and Kristi Knoll of Zeeland; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Harriet Ossewaarde of Holland; one brother-in-law, Bob Lloyd of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Joe (Dorothy) Wiersma of Holland and Mrs. Rudy (Gertrude) Zeedyk of Holland.

The funeral and committal services for Mr. Lester Knoll will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002 at the Notier-Ver Lee-Langeland Funeral Chapel, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland with Rev. Neil Van Heest officiating. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Minnie Mae Lovelady
Minnie Mae Lovelady (Powers) died May 15, 1999 in Searcy, Ark.
She was born in 1908 in Vandale, Ark. and lived with her husband, Christopher, in Grand Haven from 1951 until 1968 when he retired.
Mrs. Lovelady is survived by her husband, Christopher Lovelady; son, Douglas Lovelady of Arkansas; daughters Pat (Duane) Stearns of California, Sue (Lee) Rillema of Muskegon and Mary (David) Johns of Grand Haven; 26 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by sons Garland Lovelady and Grover Lovelady.
The funeral will be held in Bradford, Ark. on Monday. Internment will be in Coffieville Cemetery.
