Eric M. Cronk

EAU CLAIRE -- Eric M. Cronk, 25, of Eau Claire died Feb. 10, 2002, in Coloma.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Kerley & Starks Funeral Home, 802 Main St., in St. Joseph, with the Rev. John Munson of First Presbyterian Church, Benton Harbor, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund for the family.

Mr. Cronk was born June 7, 1976, in Chicago. He was the owner of Eric Cronk Furniture Maker in Union Pier, Mich.

On Dec. 1, 2000, he married the former Shawna Maxwell, in Gatlinburg, Tenn. She survives along with stepson, Michael, at home. Also surviving are his parents, Jack and Diane Cronk of St. Joseph; grandparents, Richard and Florence Forry of Bristol, Ind.; and a brother, Ryan (Deanna) Cronk of Grandville, Mich.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Lavere Cronk; and also by his infant daughter, Alexis, on Feb. 6, 2002.

Andrew "Doc' Wooden

BENTON HARBOR -- Andrew "Doc" Wooden, 81, of Benton Harbor, died at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Benton Harbor, with the Rev. Steve Wooden, Assistant Pastor at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Benton Harbor, officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from noon until the time of services. Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores. Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wooden was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Coldwater, Miss., and lived in this area for the last 47 years, since 1954. He was an iron pourer for Mallable Company, Benton Harbor. He attended many area churches.

He is survived by his wife, Addie Singleton Wooden, whom he married on Oct. 31, 1955, in Benton Harbor; son, Rev. Steve (Mary) Wooden of Benton Harbor, Eugene Wooden and John H. Wooden, both of Memphis, Tenn., Anthony L. Wooden of California; daughters -- Elizabeth McEntyre, Anna Marie Woodard and Minerva Wooden, all of Memphis, Gloria E. Sanders of Niles; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters -- Annie Blakemore of Chicago and Everlee Davis of Memphis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Fannie (Haywood) Wooden; son, Andrew Wooden Jr.; brothers -- Curtis Wooden, Jimmy Wooden and Willie Wooden; and sisters -- Sarah McKissey, Jessie Massey, Leola Kelsey and Lorraine McDonald.

Dorothy Pahlke Anderson

COLOMA - Dorothy Pahlke Anderson, 75, of Coloma passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, Coloma, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening. The family requests memorial donations be made to Lifeline Services in care of Community Hospital, Watervliet.

Dorothy was born April 7, 1924, in Danzig, Germany, the youngest daughter of Ernst Emil and Julia M. Pahlke. For more than 25 years, she was employed at Hammermill Paper Co., Watervliet, as a paper sorter and in other positions. She enjoyed working in her yard, her dog, Sadie, her cats, antiquing, rummage sales and casino trips.

She recently experienced several heart attacks and was successfully completing stroke rehabilitation at Community Hospital Outpatient Therapy Center, Coloma.

Dorothy is survived by four daughters - Kerry (Robert) Dorstewitz of Sodus, Jackie (William) Forrester of Coloma, Sandra Anderson of Hartford and Sharon Orris of Benton Harbor; five grandchildren - Shelby Forrester of St. Joseph, Shannon (Matthew) Jones of Tempe, Ariz., David Bulat of St. Joseph, Ashley (Jason) Lawson of Sodus and Lezlie Forrester of Coloma; and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Lawson of Sodus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John and Frank Pahlke; and sisters, Martha, Harriet Granke and Valerie Wyrick.

Josephine "Josie' Pierce

BENTON HARBOR - Josephine "Josie" Pierce, 66, of Benton Harbor passed away Monday, March 6, 2000 at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Fairplain Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, Benton Harbor. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery, Riverside. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mrs. Pierce moved back to the area in 1989. She was a homemaker. She married Henry Pierce on May 1, 1971.

Survivors include: her husband, Henry Pierce of Benton Harbor; a daughter, Francis Jolly of San Diego, Calif.; four sons - Richard Sexton of San Diego, Floyd Pierce of Benton Harbor, James "Carl" Pierce of Eau Claire and Billy Pierce of Covert; two sisters - Mary Wright of Pollard, Ark., and Isabelle Watson of Cherokee Village, Ark.; a brother, Earl Harrison of Florida; three grandchildren - Pamela Pierce of St. Joseph, Cyndi Martinez of Hartford and Tyler Pierce of Covert; and six great-grandchildren.

Lourine Cummings

PULLMAN - Lourine Cummings, 71, of Pullman, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Pullman, with the Rev. E.L. Derden officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from noon Friday until the time of the service. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Chappell Funeral Home, Fennville.

Lourine was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Mississippi, to Charles and Mable (Dent) Brown. She was retired from Campbell's Mushroom Factory in Fennville and was a member of the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Pullman.

Survivors include: two stepsons - Brandon Nunn of Pullman and Jamar Rose of Ohio; her stepfather, Francisco Chambers of Fennville; a stepbrother, Michael Chambers of Fennville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Cummings, in 1970.

Marvin Q. McMullin

BENTON HARBOR - Marvin Q. McMullin, 33, of Benton Harbor, died June 9, 2000, at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at Fellowship Baptist Church, Benton Harbor, where visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens Hagar Shores. Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McMullin was born Sept. 23, 1966, in Bells, Tenn., to Sylvester and Ernestine McMullin. He formerly was employed as a manufacturing laborer. Marvin accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Wortham Chapel Baptist Church. In 1979, he moved to Benton Harbor and united with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and later joined Fellowship Baptist Church, Benton Harbor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester McMullin Sr., in 1998.

Survivors include: his mother, Mrs. Ernestine McMullin of Benton Harbor; daughters - Ebony McMullin, Alexis McMullin and Britanny McMullin, all of Las Vegas; brothers - Sylvester McMullin Jr. of Benton Harbor and Willie Owen of Alamo, Tenn.; special friend Alphonso Jackson of Benton Harbor; aunts - Verna Mae Kirby of Lexington, Ky., Syrean Gaddie of Clarkton, Mo., and Leila Murdock of Toledo, Ohio; uncles - Earl Frieson of Saginaw, Mich., Fred Murdock of Toledo; and a host of cousins and friends, the McMullin and James families.

Tyron Todd Zech

SAWYER - Tyron Todd Zech, 21, of Dallas, former area resident, passed away Aug. 12, 2000, in Dallas.

Funeral services for Mr. Zech will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 at Anderson Clayton Bros. Chapel in Kaufman, Texas, with the Rev. Frank C. Reyna officiating. Interment will follow in Kaufman Cemetery under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. of Kaufman.

Mr. Zech was born Feb. 3, 1979, in Berrien Center, to Todd Arlen and Pennilou Smyatha (Johnson) Zech. He was preceded in death by his mother Pennilou Schmal in 1984, and his great-grandfather, Franklin Zech, and grandmother, Doris Johnson.

Survivors include: his fiancee Shannon Howard of Dallas; his father, Todd Zech of Sawyer; sister, Amanda Schmal of Stevensville; brother, Joshiah Schmal of Dallas; paternal grandfather, Lavone Zech and his wife Rosemary of Berrien Springs; paternal grandmother, Shirley J. Church of Jacksonville, Fla.; maternal grandfather, S.M. Johnson Sr. of Dallas; paternal great-grandmother, Mable Zech of Berrien Springs; uncles - S.M. Johnson Jr. and his wife Ann of Dallas; Craig Zech and his wife Angela of Berrien Springs; aunt, Deonna Fontaine and her husband Mark of Jacksonville, Fla.; numerous cousins and other relatives and many friends.

Benjamin Ralph Chadwick

ST. JOSEPH - Benjamin Ralph Chadwick, 74, of Leachville, Ark., formerly of St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center, Jonesboro, Ark.

Born in Leachville, he had lived most of his life in Michigan and was a retired diesel engine mechanic.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre.

He returned to Leachville in 1988 and was a member of the Leachville Second Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son and a stepson.

Survivors include: his wife, Helen Burns Chadwick of Leachville; two sons - Jerry Lynn Chadwick of Clinton, Iowa, and Benjamin Ralph Chadwick Jr. of Berrien Springs; a stepson, Dale Hemminger of Jonesboro; stepdaughter, Eleanor Smith of Leachville; a brother, William D. Chadwick of Saugatuck; a sister, Joyce Faye Sairls of Jonesboro; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 6, at Howard Funeral Service Chapel, Leachville, with the Rev. Mike Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, Walcott, Ark.

The family received visitors on Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Harold Chadwick, Ronnie Sairls, Billy Hetler, Bud Foutch, Bonnie Miller and Steve Chadwick.
