Lavonia Annie Davis
BENTON HARBOR -- Lavonia Annie Davis, 59, of Benton Harbor died Dec. 9, 2001, at home.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, Benton Harbor, with Elder Rudolph Thomas presiding. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, where a family hour will follow at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Robbins Funeral Home, Benton Harbor is in charge of arrangements.
Lavonia was born Nov. 9, 1942, in Hughes, Ark., to the union of Hugh Bill Davis and Willie Augusta (Daniels) Williams. She formerly was employed as a beautician.
Lavonia was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Williams and Willie Augusta Williams, and Hugh Bill Davis; and brothers -- Oscar Davis and Dennis Williams.
Survivors include: a son, Tyrone Ulesseys Davis of Benton Harbor; grandson, Davant Davis of Benton Harbor; sisters -- Juanita Williams, Clara Horton, Marlene Williams, Charlene Williams Langford, Emma Williams, Helen Williams and Denise Williams, all of Benton Harbor, and Gladys Williams of Caruthersville, Mo.; brothers -- Hugh (Kate Upshaw) Davis of Benton Harbor, DeWayne Gentry of Detroit, and Leroy Williams of Flint, Mich.; sister-in-law, Elenor Davis of Benton Harbor; uncles -- James Daniels of Chicago, Johnnie Lee Williams and Nathanial Williams, both of Flint, Willie Williams and Charles Williams, both of Benton Harbor; aunts -- Beatrice Greenley of St. Louis, Mo., Juanita Rolfe and Clarissa Rolfe, both of Wichita, Kan., and Bessie Henderson of Chicago; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Flora Hines and Mary Walton, both of Benton Harbor.
Philomena G. Salvano
LAWRENCE -- Philomena Grace Salvano, 79, of Lawrence, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at LakeView Community Hospital, Paw Paw.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Hartford, of which she was a member. Father German Perez-Diaz will be the celebrant. Burial of cremains will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery. As to her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Leonard Funeral Home, Lawrence, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Salvano was born Sept. 6, 1922, in Chester, Pa., the daughter of Thomas and Pasquarosa (Cuinci) DiNicola, both of whom preceded her in passing.
Mrs. Salvano was a member of the Lawrence Senior Citizens Club. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who devoted her life to her family.
Survivors include: three sons -- Charles (Sara) Salvano of St. Joseph, Robert (Addie) Salvano of Jacksonville, Fla., and Michael (Deborah) Salvano of Lawrence; six grandchildren -- Nicole Kastner and Jennifer Huizenga, both of Grand Rapids, Robert Salvano and Scott Salvano, both of St. Joseph, Jessica Salvano and Megan Salvano, both of Lawrence; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters -- Helen Tucker and Jean Papi, both of Swarthmore, Pa.; and a brother, Thomas DiNicola of Brandywine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on Sept. 8, 1987; a sister, Mary Momont; and a brother, William DiNicola.
Henry Wildeman
ST. JOSEPH -- Henry Wildeman, 89, of Margate, Fla., formerly of St. Joseph, succumbed to complications from Alzheimer's disease on Tuesday, June 18, 2002.
Henry was born in Cass Lake, Minn., on Jan. 15, 1913. He spent his adult life in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, where he retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 32 years of dedicated service. In 1998 he relocated with his wife to Margate to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by three children -- Jeanne (William) White of Coconut Creek, Fla., Allen Wildeman and Richard (Rebecca) Wildeman, both of Margate; one brother, Albert Wildeman of Benton Harbor; two sisters -- Ella Peters of Chatham, Ontario, Canada and Martha (Martin) Beltarri of Mercedes, Calif.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Kerley and Starks Funeral Home, 802 Main St., St. Joseph. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Grace Lutheran Church, St. Joseph. Entombment will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
Dollee H. Sebasty
THREE OAKS - Dollee H. Sebasty, 95, of Three Oaks, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pobocik Funeral Home Connelly-Noble Chapel, Three Oaks, with Pastor Sherri Swanson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Three Oaks. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where there will be a Rebekah Memorial Service at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Three Oaks United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Sebasty was born Jan. 3, 1905 in Three Oaks to John and Jennie (Hampton) Huston. On May 25, 1925, in Buchanan, she married Forrest L. Sebasty, who preceded her in death on Mar. 9, 1987. Mrs. Sebasty was a member of the Three Oaks United Methodist Church, the Three Oaks Community Service Club, Rebekah Lodge 309, Three Oaks, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Three Oaks.
Survivors include her children - Norma Jean Taylor of Menominee, Mich. and Norman Sebasty of Richardson, Texas; her grandchildren - Jennifer, Amber, William, Scott and Stacy; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sebasty was preceded in death by her sisters, Ilah Huston and Bessie Huston and her brother, Marion Huston.
Richard L. Storms
BENTON HARBOR - Long-time former resident of Benton Harbor, Richard L. Storms, passed away at his home in Manistique, Mich., on Monday, Feb. 28, at age 85.
He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Force. He was employed by Whirlpool Corporation for 41 years. He retired in 1977 and he and his wife, Eleanor, moved to their home on Indian Lake in Manistique. She preceded him in death in 1984.
He leaves one nephew, A. G. Storms of Lexington, Ky. and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Marjorie S. Storms of Indian River, Mich.
Elva L. Rimboch
SAWYER - Elva L. Rimboch, 92, of Sawyer, formerly of Lansing, Mich., and Zypherhills, Fla., died Wednesday, March 8, at Jordan's Nursing Home, Bridgman.
A private family service will be held at the Boyd Funeral Home, Bridgman. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the Activities Department at Jordan's Nursing Home or the Salvation Army.
Elva was born Jan. 28, 1908, in Milford, Ind., to Dr. William and Edna (Clymer) Price. She was a graduate of the Toledo Ohio Institute of Business.
She and her husband, Ralph, retired to Zypherhills in the early '70s. They moved to the St. Joseph area in 1991. After the death of her husband, she made her home with her daughter, Edna Olin, and son-in-law, Russell Olin, of Sawyer. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with relatives all over the United States.
Survivors include: three daughters - Edna (Russ) Olin of Sawyer, Geraldine Lenz of Kalkaska, Mich., and Dolores Donahue of Sun City, Ariz.; grandchildren - Thomas Olin of DCA, Libby Olin of Coloma, Aimee Mammina of Sawyer, Holly Miller of Encino, Calif., Nancy Hayes of Wickenburg, Ariz., Cindy McMilland of Larkspur, Colo., Julie Lenz of Kalkaska and James Lenz of Fife Lake, Mich.; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1995; two brothers - Arthur of Zypherhills and Frank of Toledo; and a great-grandchild, Kailee Keelan of Colorado.
Lee Grant "Billy' Allen
BENTON HARBOR - Lee Grant "Billy" Allen, 48, of Benton Harbor died June 11, 2000, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at New Bethel Baptist Church, Benton Harbor. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor, where a wake and family hour will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor.
Mr. Allen was born Nov. 9, 1951, in Blytheville, Ark., to Jesse and Willie Mae Allen. He moved to Benton Harbor at age 16, with his family. He was owner and operator of Allen & Son Construction Co. He was baptized in Arkansas under the leadership of the Rev. Raymond Stevenson. Billy was a very fun loving person who always left a lasting impression with whoever he met.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors include: his parents, Jesse and Willie Mae Allen of Benton Harbor; sons - Lee Grant Hart of Grand Rapids and Terrace Lee McKinney of Benton Harbor; six grandchildren; sisters - Yvonne (Leroy) Love and Kelley Allen, both of Benton Harbor; niece, Ashley Allen of Benton Harbor; nephews - Steven Tyron Allen of Lorton, Va., Byron Allen and Westly Allen, both of Benton Harbor; special friends Mary Jo McKinney and Bessie Halliburton; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends.
Frederick Andrew Liebers Jr.
HARTFORD - Frederick Andrew Liebers Jr., 74, of Hartford went home to be with his Lord on Aug. 13, 2000 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph.
As to Frederick's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral. The family is being served by Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford.
Frederick was born May 14, 1926, in San Francisco, the son of Frederick and Minnie (Gonzales) Liebers Sr. He served in the armed services during World War II.
Frederick leaves behind a loving wife, Mable, whom he married on Sept. 25, 1966; a sister, Thelma (Bud) Putnam of Walnut Grove, Calif.; three children - Nancy (Junior) Cheek, Sharon (Lyn) Overheiser and Charles (Nancy) Bailey. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
