Helen Marie Hutchins
FENNVILLE -- Helen Marie Hutchins, 86, of Fennville, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Holland Health Care.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 19, at Chappell Funeral Home, Fennville. The Rev. Jane Crabtree will officiate. Burial will be in Fennville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Fennville District Library or Hospice.
Helen was born on March 1, 1915, in Fennville, to Charles Lawrence Bale and Freida Bale. She was married to Lawrence E. Hutchins, who preceded her in death on April 22, 1981. Helen had lived in Fennville all her life. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: five sons -- James L. (Elaine) Hutchins, Richard I. (Sharon) Hutchins, and David E. (Debra) Hutchins, all of Fennville, Dale E. (Joyce) Hutchins of Annapolis, Md., and Keith W. (Janice) Hutchins of Kentwood, Mich.; four daughters -- Mrs. Donald (Marilyn) Nye and Mrs. Lester (Sally) Bell, both of Fennville, Mrs. Walter (JoAnn) McElyea of Beedeville, Ark., and Mrs. Tommie (Connie) Giles of Fennville; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three sisters -- Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Atkins, Mrs. Lois Hartsuiker, and Mrs. Richard (Mary Lou) Sisson, all of Fennville; and a sister-in-law, Lois Hutchins of Holland, Mich.
Dorothy C. Hunziker
DOWAGIAC -- Dorothy C. Hunziker, 98, of Dowagiac died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at 4:35 p.m. at Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Niles, of which she was a member. The Rev. Frank Schuster will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Memorials may be made to Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis.
Mrs. Hunziker was born May 28, 1903, in Chicago, to James and Eva Mae (Aldrich) Cummings. She moved to Magician Lake (Dowagiac) in 1914. She summered there, but spent most of her life in Niles. She was a life member of Beta Gamma Epsilon Sorority. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Hunziker's Nursery in Niles for many years.
She married Alex H. Hunziker in 1926, in Angola, Ind. He preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1973. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include: a daughter, Mary A. (Craig) McCoy of Dowagiac; sons -- Jerry A. (Pamela) Hunziker of Niles and James M. Hunziker of St. Thomas, V.I.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mark C. Hatfield
BENTON HARBOR -- Mark C. Hatfield, 48, of Canton, Mich., formerly of Benton Harbor, died June 14, 2002, at home after a long illness.
He was born June 21, 1953. Mark was a loving husband and father. He loved God and accepted Jesus as his Savior.
Mark was a 1972 graduate of Benton Harbor High School and also Western Michigan University. He was employed at Daimler Chrysler in Detroit, where he was a computer analyst.
His funeral was June 15, 2002, at the Vermeulen Funeral Home, Plymouth, Mich. Dr. Jimmy McGuire, pastor at Ward Presbyterian Church, Novi, Mich., conducted the service.
Mark's burial was on June 17 in the Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. The Rev. Doug Petersen, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Benton Harbor, where Mark was a member during his youth, officiated at the graveside service.
Mark is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Esper Hatfield; daughters -- Shelby Hatfield and Hannah Esper; his father, Wayne C. Hatfield and his wife, Carol and their daughters, Tricia and Taylor of St. Joseph; his mother, Jean K. Browe and her husband Walter of Stevensville; a sister, Lynn Hatfield Korff and her husband, John and their sons Jason and Brian of Holly Springs, N.C.; step-sister, Judy Browe Rohm, her husband Mark and their daughter and sons, Megan, Bud and David of St. Joseph.

Robert "Tailshaker, Shorty' Foster
BENTON HARBOR - Robert "Tailshaker, Shorty" Foster, 64, of Benton Harbor died June 9, 2000, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Unity Temple Church of God in Christ. Burial will be private in Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Kerley & Starks Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Foster was born Dec. 23, 1935, in Arkansas. He was employed in manufacturing at Auto Specialties for 8 years and for Wilderness for 10 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Doris (Clark) Foster of Benton Harbor; father and stepmother, Nathaniel and Queen Foster of Benton Harbor; sons - Robert and Marshal Foster of Minneapolis, Michael Foster of Tiptonville, Tenn., and Timothy Foster of Minnesota; daughters - Barbara Ann and Linda K. Foster of Minneapolis, Margaret Foster of Dyersburg, Tenn., Sherry Foster of Fayetteville, N.C., Shawn Foster of South Bend, Ind.;
sisters - Pearl (John) Lewis, Tennie B. (Horace) Cottle, Betty (Eddie) Burton, Dollie (Benny) Sheppherd all of Benton Harbor, Ann Barber of Milwaukee, Eleanor Spivey of New York and Doris Spivey of Detroit; brothers - Willie S. Foster of Oakland, Calif., Nathaniel Foster of Benton Harbor, James C. Spivey, Thomas T. Spivey, Peter Spivey, all of Detroit, Dixon Foster, Clinton Foster and Leonard Foster, all of Benton Harbor; sisters - Melody Eddie, Betty Johnson, Charlotte Washington, Cardell Turner, Vernell Williams, Lethell Williams, all of Benton Harbor, Jackie Williams of Grand Rapids; 30 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bytha Foster; 10 brothers and sisters; and by one son.
Leroy F. Wyhowski
SOUTH HAVEN - Leroy F. Wyhowski, 76, of South Haven died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at South Haven Community Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bangor Chapel, D.L. Miller Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Dr. Paul L. Maier will officiate. Burial will be in Chambers Cemetery, Geneva Township. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
Mr. Wyhowski was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Fruitport, Mich. He was a bus driver for Bangor Public Schools for more than 20 years and was an avid farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Beverly; nine children - Cheryl, Carol, Shirley, Lenora, Michael, Dianna, Donald, Paula and Cynthia; 17 grandchildren; a brother, John Wyhowski of Grand Haven, Mich.; a sister, Dorothy Stever of Fruitport; and a sister-in-law, Jacoba Schembs of Mercer Island, Wash.
Eleanor "Nina' Mischke
STEVENSVILLE - Eleanor "Nina" Mischke, 74, of Stevensville, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stevensville. Burial will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Kerley & Starks Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home.
Mrs. Mischke was born May 25, 1926, in Stevensville.
She worked at Cooper & Wells, The Joyce Clothing Company, V-M Corporation and then was a stay-at-home mom until her daughters moved away from home and she retired from Leco Corporation.
On Oct. 18, 1947, in Baroda, she married Chester R. Mischke, who survives.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Joseph Kicker's Club and was an avid flower gardener.
Survivors include: two daughters - Valerie (Jack) Novotny of Warminster, Pa., and Holly (Marshall) Robertson of Mundelein, Ill.; four grandchildren - Joshua and Andrew Novotny, Elise and Lauren Robertson; a sister, Beverly (Ray) Mak of St. Joseph; two brothers - Leonard (Helene) Siewert and Raymond Siewert, both of St. Joseph; good friend, Rosie Dockery; niece, Denise Marx; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers - Walt, Alvin "Ozzie, " Lester, Ernest and Bill Siewert, and a sister, Loretta Marx.
John Kosobucki
DECATUR - John Kosobucki, 93, of Decatur, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at LakeView Continuing Care Center, Lawton.
John was born Nov. 2, 1907, in Cicero, Ill., the son of Anton and Agnes Kosobucki. He married Josephine Kasprzak on March 17, 1926, in Cicero and she preceded him in death in 1985. John was a member of Holy Family Church of Decatur and the Knights of Columbus. He was a barber in Illinois for a few years and then became a firefighter with the Cicero Fire Department for 25 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Decatur and worked at the Decatur High School for a few years helping to take care of the athletic fields.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Newell Funeral Home, Decatur, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Donald Potts as celebrant. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Decatur. The family suggests memorials be made to the Holy Family Scholarship Fund.
Survivors include: a son, George (Virginia) Kosobucki; a son-in-law, Sylvester Krueger, both of Decatur; three grandchildren - Cynthia (Brian) Crandall, Jeffrey (Mary) Kosobucki and Gary (Nancy) Krueger; and five great-grandchildren - Nicholas and Christopher Crandall, Alaina Kosobucki, Ashley and Abigail Krueger. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Adeline Krueger, in 1998; six brothers and four sisters.
