Dr. Joseph V. Fisher
ST. JOSEPH -- Dr. Joseph Vincent Fisher, prominent Michigan physician and early contributor to the Family Practice movement, died Saturday, Feb.1, 2003, in St. Joseph. He was 89 years old.
Dr. Fisher was born on Aug. 6, 1913, in Huntington, Ind. He was a graduate of University High School in Ann Arbor and subsequently received undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. While at the University of Michigan he was a member of the track and football teams and Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
During World War II, Dr. Fisher was commissioned as a captain and served in the China India Burma Theater, where he ran a portable surgical hospital attached to the Chinese Army. For his contributions in treating war casualties, Captain Fisher was decorated by both the U.S. and Chinese governments.
After World War II, Dr. Fisher and his wife, Helen Beatrice (nee Hopkins), settled in Chelsea, Mich., where he was engaged in general practice for 27 years. Impressed with the psychosomatic aspects of disease, Dr. Fisher took a postgraduate Fellowship in Psychiatry at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco in 1964-1965.
From that point on Dr. Fisher was increasingly associated with the emerging Family Medicine discipline. He was influential in establishing Family Medicine as a Board Certified Specialty and was a Charter Diplomate in 1971. He was active in the medical community and was president of the Michigan Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physician in 1971-72 and Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine in 1978.
Dr. Fisher joined the Family Practice Department of the Medical University of South Carolina in 1972, where he was a professor and taught for 13 years. After he retired in 1985, Dr. Fisher was a consultant in substance abuse issues for the South Carolina Commission on Alcohol and Substance Abuse and the World Health Organization.
Dr. Fisher was an avid tennis player and collector of rare books. He is survived by his children -- Barrie Dewane of St. Joseph, Ellen Thompson of Warwick, R.I., Joseph C. Fisher of Sanibel, Fla., Joanne Bordage of Naperville, Ill.; his brother Dr John Fisher of Goldsboro, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Memorials may be made to St. Christopher Episcopal Church in North Port, Mich.

Sharon K. Sobralski
BENTON HARBOR -- Sharon K. Sobralski, 57, of Benton Harbor died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, Berrien Center.
Upon family request, a body donation has been made to the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Mich. Arrangements made by Fairplain Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, Benton Harbor.
Mrs. Sobralski was born Oct. 12, 1945, in Benton Harbor, to Maurice and Alice McMasters.
She had lived in this community her entire life.
Mrs. Sobralski was previously employed at Manpower Temporary Services, St. Joseph, as a secretary.
She loved crocheting, needlepoint and various crafts. She will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include: her husband, Richard, whom she married on July 4, 1965, in St. Joseph; three sons -- Richard Sobralski II and John Sobralski, both of Benton Harbor, and Michael (Michelle) Sobralski of Coloma; daughter, Dawn (Richard) Arnold of Ponchatoula, La.; her parents, Maurice and Alice McMasters of Port Orange, Fla.; sister, Georgeann Zerbe of South Bend, Ind.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a niece.
Kenneth E. Green
DOWAGIAC -- Kenneth's life began on Nov. 19, 1924, in Benton Harbor, the son of Robert Henry and Agnes (Jewel) Green. He was employed by the Cass County Road Commission for 20 years, retiring in 1986. His family includes his wife, the former Barbara Keene, whom he married on Oct. 6, 1951, in the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Dowagiac; two daughters -- Elizabeth and her husband, Mike Mott, Joyce and her husband, David Accoe, all of Dowagiac; one son, David and his wife, Christine Green of Dowagiac; nine grandchildren -- Michael James and his wife Becky Mott, Bradley Mott, Jason and his wife Stephanie Mott, Heather and her husband Joe Pauley, Amy Accoe, Randi Accoe, Daniel, Andrea and Derick Green; four great-grandchildren -- Ezekiel Mott, Caitlon, Madison and Samantha Pauley; and his beloved cat Georgia Jean, "Ms. Catsopolis."
Kenneth died on June 2, 2003, at Lakeland Hospital, Niles. He follows in death two sisters, Ruby Green and Berry McNess; and four brothers, Ernest, Robert, Oscar and Mylan Green.
Kenneth's family will meet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today, June 3, at Groner Funeral Home, Dowagiac. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the funeral home. Kenneth will be buried in South Wayne Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be made to Cass County Council on Aging or the donor's choice.
Marcille Eva Dewitt
BENTON HARBOR -- Marcille Eva Dewitt, 80, of Benton Harbor died June 15, 2003, at Golden Place in St. Joseph.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, June 17, at Dey-Florin Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, St. Joseph. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph, with the Rev. David Broom of Oakridge Baptist Church officiating.
Marcille was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Benton, Ill., to Thomas and Ethel (Burrel) Lewis. She married Ramon Dewitt on Sept. 14, 1945, in Benton Harbor. Marcille had lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker who loved her husband, children, and grandchildren. Marcille will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Bill) Bower of Port Orange, Fla.; her son, Ramon (Diana) Dewitt Jr. of Benton Harbor; two sisters -- Virginia Lance of Centralia, Ill., and Phyllis Helsley of Carbondale, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Edna Lewis of Benton, Ill., and Pat Dewitt of Watervliet; three grandchildren -- Ramon Dewitt III and Jim Dewitt of St. Joseph, and Sally (Craig) Misner of Crandall, Ga.; and one great-grandchild, Jarrod Misner.
Mrs. Dewitt was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon; and by a brother, J.T. Lewis.
Katherine M. Kullenberg
ST. JOSEPH -- Katherine M. Kullenberg passed away July 25, 2003.
A celebration of the life of Katherine (wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother) will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, which would have been her 95th birthday, at 1 p.m. at Kerley & Starks Funeral Home, St. Joseph. A luncheon reception will follow at the Mansion Grille by the Lake, 3029 Lake Shore Drive.
Cremation has taken place. Private graveside services will be held at North Shore Memory Gardens at a later date.
Kevin E. Fraser
THREE OAKS -- Kevin E. Fraser, 37, of Three Oaks, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2002, at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, August 10, 2002, at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Harbor with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lake Michigan Catholic Schools or the Etta May House.
Kevin was born September 23, 1964, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Gerry and Maureen Fraser. He had lived his entire life in this community. Kevin had attended Blossomland Learning Center and for the last three years resided at Etta May House in Three Oaks.
Survivors include: his parents, Gerry and Maureen Fraser of Benton Harbor; his twin brother, Sean (Mia) Fraser of Grosse Pointe; brothers -- Neil (Renee) Fraser of Sterling Heights and Liam Fraser of Attleboro, Mass.; sisters -- Sheelah (Chad Masak) Fraser of Chicago and Megan (Kevin) McLoughlin of Niles; a niece, Micaela Fraser; nephews -- Brendan and Nicholas Fraser; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and by extended family members at Etta May House -- Troy and Joy Hart and their children, and his specials friends -- Stewart, Rochelle, Sean, Terry, and Lisa.
Arthur W. Seagren
STEVENSVILLE -- Arthur W. Seagren, 90, of Stevensville, formerly of Bradford, Pa. and Lexington, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at the Bay Spirit Acres Home in Stevensville.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church in Bradford, Pa. Final resting place will be in Willowdale Cemetery, Bradford. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers in Arthur's name to the donor's favorite charity.
Mr. Seagren was born Feb. 7, 1912, in Kane, Pa., to Oscar and Amanda Seagren. On Oct. 27, 1936, he married Frances Ellen Walstrom in Limestone, N.Y.
Arthur was a skilled tradesman and oil producer in Pennsylvania prior to his retirement. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, archery, and during his retirement focused on golf and his grandchildren. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph, Mich. and an active participant in senior activities of the church. Previously he was a member and deacon of the Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Ky., and a member of the Mission Covenant Church of Bradford, Pa., where he served the church in many positions.
Mr. Seagren is survived by his daughter Carol Chavis Reinarts of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; his son, "Jim" Arthur J. (Stella Gay) Seagren of St. Joseph; grandchildren -- Amanda (Michael) Rush and Stephanie (James) Rockey, both of St. Joseph, Jeffrey Chavis of Las Vegas, Nev., Jennifer Boyd, Christopher Chavis, and Craig Chavis, all of Fort Walton Beach; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, on July 26, 1980; six brothers; and one sister.
John Adam Enders Sr.
BENTON HARBOR -- John Adam Enders Sr., 74, formerly of Benton Harbor and Fountain, Mich., passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Foote Hospital in Jackson, Mich.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God, 3084 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with Pastor Dan Miller officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Coloma American Legion Post 362, Hartford American Legion Post 93, VFW Post 1137 of Benton Harbor and VFW Post 6803 of Watervliet. Cremation will follow the service with burial of ashes in Millburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Mr. Enders, also known as "The Dutchman" was born on Sept. 26, 1928, in Benton Harbor to Donald and Crystal (Tyler) Enders. John served and was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. He was employed as a truck driver for Leco Corp. from 1973-1990, and by Mason County Fruit Packers from 1990-1999. John was a member of the First Assembly of God where he formerly was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. He was an avid outdoorsman, a trait which he passed on to his family.
Mr. Enders is survived by his children -- John A. "Bump" (Nancy) Enders Jr. of Sodus, Jody (Joe) Rutherford of Walnut Cove, N.C., Michael A. (Lori) Enders of Benton Harbor, Jeffery R. (Mary Sue) Enders of Coloma, Timothy (Julie) Enders of Monument, Colo., Tamara (Mark) Hamelink of Effingham, S.C.; his wife of 42 years, Barbara Enders; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers -- Paul (Fran) Enders of South Haven and Ken (Karen) Enders of Muskegon, Mich.; and one sister, Eleanor (Gene) Tanke of Pinconning, Mich.
John was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter in 1949; and a brother, Donald Enders.
