Bernard Barney Bahus
October 20, 1914 - September 7, 2014

Bernard Barney Bahus, Sr., 99, of Michigan City passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his home.

Bernard was born October 20, 1914 in Chicago, IL to the late Charles and Rose (Bogote) Bahus. Bernard was a WWII Army veteran. Bernard loved to drive and his son nicknamed him “Wheels” because he loved to travel. He drove until he was 98 1/2!

Survivors include his children - Bernard Bahus Jr. of Harbert, Dorothy Knapp of Sawyer, Peggy (Rick) Allred of Alabama, Sarah Slotman of Holland, MI; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two sisters - Judy and Sue.

Bernard was also preceded in death by his wife Gloria Ann (Wingo) who passed away in 1986, and 6 brothers and sisters.

A private family graveside service will be held later.

Joshua Loren Martin
February 7, 1983 - August 31, 2014

Joshua Loren Martin, 31, of Benton Harbor passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 5, 2014 at The Chapel, 4250 Washington, St. Joseph, with Reverend Christopher Peddie officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 4 - 8 PM Thursday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Five Pines Ministries - Tower Project, 6597 Smith Road, Berrien Center, MI 49102.

Josh was born February 7, 1983 in Berrien Center, Michigan the son of Larry and Nancy (Gast) Martin. He graduated from Lakeshore High School in 2002. For ten years Josh dated the love of his life Mariko Harding and on July 12, 2014 they were married. He worked with his dad, brother and cousins at Fence Masters in Baroda. Josh spent many summers at Five Pine Ministries and had been on missions trips with his dad. Josh was the president of the Bulldogs Motorcycle Club and loved the open road. He was a faithful friend and a hard worker, and will be missed but not forgotten by those that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mariko; his three Corgi companions - Brodie, Bradley and Buddy; father and mother - Larry & Nancy Martin of Baroda; inlaws - Michael & Jane McDowell of St. Joseph; brother - Jacob (Julie) Martin of St. Joseph, and brother -in-law: Tyler Harding of Baroda; grandparents - Don & Jule Gast, Joe & Pat Harding, Bruce & Midori Needham, Jeannine Marks and Larry Martin Sr.

Viola Marie Chiappetta
November 28, 1922 - August 31, 2014

Viola Marie Chiappetta, 91 of Bridgman passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at her home in the care of her daughter.

A private family gathering was held Monday, September 1, 2014 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman and burial of her cremated remains will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Viola was born November 22, 1922 in Kenosha, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Montemurro) Forgianni. On June 15, 1946 she married John Donald Chiappetta and together they shared 44 years of married, he preceded her in death on June 10, 1991.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Willeman; a granddaughter, Amy Padilla and a great grandson, Javier.

Michael Louis Horvath
July 9, 1950 - August 22, 2014

Michael Louis Horvath, 64, of Bridgman passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Reverend Father Arthur Howard officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085 or Women’s Care Center, 360 N. Notre Dame Avenue, South Bend IN 46617.

Mike was born July 9, 1950 in South Bend, the son of the late Louis G. and Lucille F. (VanLaecke) Horvath. On August 6, 1977 he married Carol D. Martin. Mike was a 1968 graduate of Washington High School in South Bend and a college graduate of IU South Bend. He began his career in law enforcement with the South Bend Police Department and then served as a Detective Sergeant with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department. He went on to become a DEA Task Force Officer, Mike was the youngest person to be nominated to the DEA and FBI academy. Mike started at the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant in 1977 as a Shift Security Supervisor after leaving the law enforcement world. Following progressive positions in Quality Assurance, Mike took on a position as the very first Manager of the Employee Concerns Program. He retired from Cook in 2013 after 37 years of service. Mike was the past commodore of the Singapore Yacht Club, Saugatuck and was a member of the Corvette Coventry.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Carol; daughters - Emily Horvath of Buchanan and her children Ellie Horvath-Yerington, Bella and Presley Backus, and Erin (Frank) Tribfelner of Grand Rapids and daughter, Paityn Tribfelner; sister - Judith McLochlin of Mishawaka; nephews - Michael, Todd and Bill McLochlin and a niece - Julie Schneider; brother-in-law - David (Sally Joe) Martin of Alaska.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and a beloved brother-in-law, William McLochlin.

Stephen Robert Slager
August 7, 1921 - August 22, 2014

Stephen Robert Slager, 93, of Titusville, FL. passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Stephen was born August 7, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, the only son of the late Stephen M. and Anna (Blink) Slager. On September 14, 1966 Stephen married Maxine Goff. He was a recipient of the Silver Star and Purple Heart from the United States Army during WWII where he was a radio operator. He was a graduate of the University of Miami, and owned and operated Trico Graphics in Chicago, Ill. He was a past Commodore of The Lake Michigan Yacht Club and has been a boater since his teens. Steve loved the high sea adventure of Lake Michigan in summer and high terrain snow skiing in winter. Steve will be remembered for his broad smile and upbeat attitude.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Maxine; son - Harold “Hal” (Carol) Slager of Schererville, IN; daughter - Holly (Les) Morgan of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren - Ryan and Colin Slager, and Hunter Morgan.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 25, 2014 at The Episcopal Church of the Mediator, 14280 Red Arrow Highway, Harbert, with Reverend Paula Durren officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of St. Frances, 1250 Grumman Place, Titusville, Florida 32780.

Vickie Lee Dover
June 28, 1958 - August 22, 2014

Vickie Lee Dover, 56, of Stevensville passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at her home.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Monday, August 25, 2014 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Reverend Jon Bendewald officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 10 - 11 AM at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to The Humane Society of Southwest Michigan, 641 S. Crystal, Benton Harbor, MI 49022.

Vickie was born June 28, 1958 in St. Joseph, Michigan, the daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Elizabeth Mae (Clark) Dover. Vickie was a member of the 1977 Class of Lakeshore High School and was a faithful employee of Jordan’s Life Care Center for 28 years.

Survivors include her sisters - Rosemarie Dover of Stevensville, Melissa (Wayne Clark) Dover of Baroda, and Charlotte Dover of Dowagiac; nieces and nephews - D.J. (Samantha) Felton, Thomas Felton, Adam Mc Gregor, Courtney McGregor and Allen Haycox; and her brother-in-law: Robert McGregor and her faithful K9 companion, Thomasina.

Vickie was also preceded in death by a sister - Corrine Dover.

Susan Eleanor Kamp
May 7, 1946 - August 16, 2014

Susan Eleanor Kamp, 68, of Bridgman passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Bridgman

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 N. Church Street, Bridgman, MI with Pastor Jon Bendewald officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, from 5-8 PM at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, MI. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Bridgman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 Church Street or the Bridgman Public Library, 4460 Lake Street.

Susan was born May 7, 1946 in St. Joseph, MI. the daughter of the late Leonard and Grace (Crosby) Decker. As a homemaker, Susan also managed and operated a family business, Kamp Mini Storage in Bridgman and New Buffalo. She was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a 1964 graduate of Bridgman High School and enthusiastically attended her grandchildren’s sporting events, she was a true orange and blue Bridgman Bee. On February 20, 1965 she married Joseph Gene Kamp and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2011.

Survivors include a son - Mark Joseph Kamp; a daughter - Kimberly Sue Kamp both of Bridgman; grandchildren - Emily Kamp, Michael Kamp, and Jackson Kamp and their mother Joellen Kamp of Bridgman; sisters - Nancy Davis of Three Oaks and Patricia (James) Conrad of Denver; a brother - John (Blanche) Decker of Tampa; a sister-in-law; Joyce Decker; two brothers-in-law - Richard Johnson and Duane Wilson; her in-laws - Joseph M. and Virginia R. Kamp of Bridgman; brother-in-laws - Donald A. (Diana) Kamp of Stevensville, and Kenneth W. Kamp of Baroda; sister-in-law - Suzanne (Jon) Malm of Bridgman; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Susan was also preceded in death by a brother; Robert Decker and sisters; Marietta Johnson and Marjorie Wilson.

Martha "Marti" Regina Raade
January 30, 1926 - August 17, 2014

Martha “Marti” Regina Raade, 88, of Bridgman formerly of Trenton, MI passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, MI., with Pastor Christopher Noffke officiating. Visitation will be held 1-2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 208 S. LaSalle St., Suite 1500, Chicago IL 60604 or Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington DC 20090.

Marti was born January 30, 1926 in Mohawk, MI the daughter of the late John and Hilma Lahti. As a homemaker, Marti also worked many years for the City of Trenton. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Trenton and was a member of the women’s auxiliary at Oakwood Hospital - Southshore, formerly Seaway Hospital of Trenton. On October 26, 1946 she married Robert I. Raade.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Robert; two sons - Ronald (Janice) Raade of Stevensville and Robert (Lynn) Raade of Ann Arbor; grandchildren - Kimberly (John) Scouler and Kevin (Jamie) Raade; great grandchildren - Ryan and Jacob Scouler, Trevor and Mason Raade.

Marti was also preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
