Olga Rigoni
SAWYER - Olga Rigoni, 92, of Sawyer died Wednesday morning, April 22, 2009, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City, Ind.
Olga was born Aug. 31, 1916, to John and Elizabeth Simovic in Chicago, and moved with her family to Stevensville when she was three years old. On Sept. 6, 1947, she married Christy Rigoni in Chicago. Olga was a homemaker and excellent seamstress who made many of her own clothes. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts, puzzles, cooking and dancing. Olga also liked playing bingo and going to the casino. Olga was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sawyer.
Olga is survived by her husband, Christy Rigoni; daughter, Karen (Corey) Paraf of Summit, Ill.; grandchildren, Donald Smith of Los Angeles and Krystal Smith of Chicago Ridge, Ill.; niece, Susan (Steve) Shearer and nephew, Alan (Pam) Havlicek.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, John and Emil, and sisters, Ann Havlicek and Bess Maranto.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sawyer, with the Rev. Kendall Schaeffer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Bridgman. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, 1169 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, Mich. 48108.
Margaret Larsen
Margaret Larsen, 80, of Three Oaks, Michigan, died Friday morning, January 21, 2005, at her home.
Margaret was born September 11, 1924 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Casson and Loueda Andrews. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1943. On September 3, 1960 she married William H. Larsen. Margaret was employed as a waitress at the Michigan Hotel in Benton Harbor for many years. She was a volunteer at the River Valley Senior Center, serving as activities director.
Survivors include her husband, William; step daughter, Carole (David) Van Antwerp, of Watervliet, Michigan; her brother, Warren Andrews of Surprise, Arizona; sister, Jean Reed of St. Joseph, Michigan and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her step son, Robert Larsen; and by her sisters, Dorothy Wolske and Beverly Renbarger.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 24, 2005 at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks, Michigan, cremation will follow. Friends may call from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the funeral home and an hour before services on Monday.
Wanda Kucharski
Wanda S. Kucharski, 87, of New Buffalo, Michigan, died Sunday morning, January 30, 2005 at her home.
Mrs. Kucharski was born on November 11, 1917 in Sczebrezcyn, Poland to John and Mary (Bekier) Rybicki. On April 28, 1940, she married Eugene H. Kucharski. They moved to the United States in 1950, settling in Chicago. In 1956, they moved to Michigan and made their home in New Buffalo. Mrs. Kucharski briefly worked outside the home, but was most content caring for her family and home. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Mr. Kucharski preceded her in death on July 13, 1984.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mario Urso, of Palos Heights, Illinois; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Diane Kucharski, of Hudsonville, Michigan; grandsons, Mark Urso, Jim Urso, Joseph Kucharski and Matthew Kucharski; her great grandson Austin; and her sister-in-law, Maryla Grabowski.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Pobocik Funeral Home Connelly-Noble Chapel, Three Oaks. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Friends may call from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ralph Wenger
Ralph Wenger, 87, of Lakeside, Michigan, died Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital, University of Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Wenger was born June 12, 1917 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Samuel and Lillie (Mak) Wenger. On September 27, 1938, he married Evelyn Steltman at the St. Joseph's church rectory in South Bend, Indiana. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Wenger was a pioneer in the field of plastics. He worked in the field for over 67 years. He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers since 1966. He worked the last 45 years at Plastic Masters, Inc. as the Vice President and General Manager. He was a proud member of St. Agnes Church in Sawyer, Michigan where he served on the financial board for many years. Mr. Wenger enjoyed golfing, and flower gardening. He took great pride in his yard. He loved his family and took great pleasure in spending time with all of them, especially his great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Wenger of Lakeside, children, Barbara Friesl of St. Joseph, Michigan; David (Colleen) Wenger of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Terry (Marilynn) Wenger of New Buffalo, Michigan; grandchildren, Colleen, Tony III, and Joe Friesl, Amy Phillips, David Jr, John, Mark and Heather Wenger; great grandchildren, Jack, Emily, Drew, A.J. and Nathan Friesl, Eric, Gordon, Abby and Hannah Wenger, Justin and Kendall Phillips, his sister, Eleanor King of Niles, Michigan, and brothers, Irving (Helen) Wenger of Panama City, Florida and Ken Wenger of Mims, Florida. He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Johns, brothers, Alvin and Leroy Wenger, and by his son-in-law, Tony Friesl, Jr.
Friends may call on Sunday, February 6, 2005 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks, where a scripture service will be held at 5:30 pm on Sunday. Memorials may be made to St. Agnes Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, February 7, 2005 at St. Agnes Church in Sawyer with the Reverend Father Donald Suberlak, C.R. as celebrant. Friends and family are encouraged to attend a time of fellowship and refreshments after Mass in the church hall. Cremation will take place with interment of the ashes on Tuesday at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Richard Lowe
Richard Lowe, 73, of Three Oaks, Michigan, died Sunday morning, February 6, 2005 at his home.
Richard was born September 11, 1931 in Three Oaks, Michigan to Lawrence and Hazel (Campbell) Lowe. He served as a Military Police officer in the US Army during the Korean War. On December 18, 1954 he married Janice A. Waak in Three Oaks. He was employed as a foreman at Sun Acre Fruit Farm. Richard enjoyed country living and being in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisher, and trapper. He liked to work in his garden and raised chickens and rabbits. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Lowe of Three Oaks; children, Diana (Barry) Killingbeck of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; Rebecca (Michael) Cronk of Three Oaks; David (Carol) Lowe of New Troy, Michigan; Daniel (Darlene) Lowe of New Carlisle, Indiana; and Brian (Angela) Lowe of Three Oaks; grandchildren, Dena, Erik, Dawn, Kristopher, Kortney, Aimee, Rachael, Wyatt, Joshua, Olivia, and Hannah; great grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob, Zachary, Alexis and Natalie, and his sisters, Evelyn (Robert) Heward of Bridgman, Michigan and Norma Haas of Lansing, Michigan . He was preceded in death by his parents and in 2002 by his great grandson, Benjamin.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow with interment of the ashes at Riverside Cemetery, Chikaming Township, Michigan.
Rachel Mejean
Rachel Jane Mejean, 67, of Three Oaks, Michigan, died in faith, Tuesday morning, February 8, 2005 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Mejean was born July 17, 1937 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to C.B. and Mary Lee (Hill) Westmoreland. On December 16, 1952, she married Charles Edward Mejean in Hornando, Mississippi, and they recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. Mrs. Mejean was a talented seamstress, furniture upholsterer and gardener. She also enjoyed creating oil paintings and miniature doll houses. Mrs. Mejean was a member of the Apostolic Bible Chapel in Michigan City, Indiana. She loved her family and looked forward to spending time with them all.
Survivors include her husband, Pastor Charles Mejean; children, Judy (Robert) Ritchey, Michigan City, Indiana; Charles (Carol) Mejean, Greenville, South Carolina; Janice (André) Bordeaux, Sawyer, Michigan; Justina Mejean, Michigan City; Joanette Mejean, Rochester, Indiana; Jennifer (Michael) Shappard, Michigan City; Jeanette Mejean, Michigan City; C Edward (Matilde) Mejean, Michigan City; Jacqueline (Anthony) Arnold, Berrien Springs, Michigan; Christain (Cindy) Mejean, Campellsburg, Kentucky; Jill (Charles) Gray, Baroda, Michigan and Janel Mejean, Rochester, Indiana; 25 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; sister, Sue Caroline (Rosairo) Pascual; and brothers, Billy Gene (Sharon) Westmoreland; Kenneth (Pat) Westmoreland; Daniel (Gayle) Westmoreland; Larry (Betty) Westmoreland and Dennis Ray (Elmarine) Westmoreland.

Willie James Senior
BENTON HARBOR - A Celebration of Willie James "Red Sonny" Senior will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor. He passed away April 17, 2009. The Rev. Milton McAfee is in charge of the Eulogy.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Jean Senior of Detroit; two grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandchild; stepdaughter, Joyce Johnson; brother, Curtis Senior Jr. of Chicago; four sisters, Serena Dexter, Dorothy Jackson, both of Conway, Ark., Patricia Hill of Detroit and Shirley Knuckles of Brownstown, Mich.; very special friends, J.C. and Maxie Taylor of Benton Harbor; special friend, Alberta Davis.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Senior Sr.; his mother, Essie (Collins) Senior, brothers, James Senior and Billy Julius Senior; and a daughter, Bernice Senior.
Robert 'Bob' W. Sonnenberg
SAWYER - A Memorial Service will be held for Robert "Bob" W. Sonnenberg at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at The Chapel, 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph.
Robert passed away on March 25, 2009, in Tampa, Fla.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life. Memorials may be made to The Chapel or Berrien County Youth Fair.
Christopher A. Brooks
STEVENSVILLE - Christopher Alan Brooks, 35, of Stevensville passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at home.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Mr. Bradley Rumer officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends may meet with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and also one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the children's education fund
Chris was born Dec. 10, 1973, in St. Joseph the son of James and Terry (Jasper) Brooks. He graduated from Coloma High School. On April 16, 1994 he married the former Amanda Rumer. Chris was employed by Cook Heating & Air Conditioning in Benton Harbor.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Amanda; four children - Kailey Brooks, Marissa Brooks, Christopher "Alex" Brooks and Colton Brooks, all at home; his mother, Terry (Randy) Crow of St. Joseph; his father, James (Carlis) Brooks of Kalamazoo; four brothers - James Crow, Nicholas Crow, Peter Brooks and Aaron Brooks; and a sister, Ailey Brooks.
