Phillip R. Reynolds, 42, of Grand Haven, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Mercy General Hospital.
He was born in Lebanon, Ore. on July 19, 1960, to Phillip and Norma (Gedney) Reynolds.
Mr. Reynolds had been employed as a sales representative at Holland USA in Muskegon. He enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include special friend, Patrick Andress of Grand Haven; parents, Phillip and Norma Reynolds of Lebanon, Ore.; two sisters, Nellie (Diet) Simkowiak of Lebanon, Ore. and Cheryl Ryan of Eli, Nev.; two nephews, Dan (Sunnie) Weathers of Lebanon, Ore. and Cole Ryan of Eli, Nev.; two nieces, Desiree Henderson of Lebanon, Ore. and Vanessa and Robert of Eli, Nev.; great-nieces and nephews; Levi, Sara, Seth, Bragi, Shandra, Elijah and Broanna.

Robert Whitesides
Served in the U.S. Navy during WWII
Robert G. Whitesides, 76, of Grand Haven died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Hackley Hospital.
He was born Jan. 31, 1927 to William F. and Bertha (Louthan) Whitesides in Jefferson City, Mo. He married Lesley Echlin June 1, 1947 in Ionia.
He was employed by Dake Corporation, a division of JSJ, and retired as Vice President of Sales in 1989. He later was employed with J.W. Oakes Realtor's and retired from there in 1999.
After graduation from Ionia High School in 1945, Mr. Whitesides attended Davenport Business College and graduated in 1947. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a radio man.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Lesley; daughter, Laura (Brad) Host of Birmingham; son, Tom of Battle Creek, and a son-in-law Dennis Bishop of Hudsonville; four grandchildren; Joshua (Heidi) Bishop, Meredith and Taylor Host and Caleb Bishop and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Ann, sister Donalee Rowley and brother William Whitesides.
Arrangements are being handled by VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad of Grand Haven.
A memorial service for Bob Whitesides will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church of the Dunes with Rev. Eldon Eldred officiating. Friends may meet the family at the church one hour prior to the service. Friends are asked to remember United Methodist Church of the Dunes or the Grand Haven Senior Center.

Enjoyed sewing and cooking
Elaine B. (Sparks) Wirth, 67, of Spring Lake, died Thursday, March 27, 2003 at her home.
She was born in Fremont on June 14, 1935 to Charles and Lois (Train) Wirth.
Mrs. Wirth had been a homemaker. At Evergreen Village, where she lived, she assisted fellow residents and called bingo. She had also enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Survivors: sons, Tom (Vicky) Sparks of Grand Haven and Roger Sparks of Jackson; daughter, Vicki (Ron) Burch of Spring Lake; 11 grandchildren: Dennis, Travis, Kyle, Vickilynn, Dana, Chantal, Helen, Ann, Brian, Mary and Roger Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Sally Balcom of Hesperia; half sister, Patsy Sweeney of Wisconsin; brother, Charles "Bill" (Ilene) Wirth of Lannon, Wis.
Mrs. Wirth was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Sparks and daughter, Mary Jane Sparks.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Clock Funeral Home of Grand Haven.
A visitation for Mrs. Elaine B. (Sparks) Wirth, 67, will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m. at Clock Funeral Home. Memorials: American Heart Association.
Walter King
Part owner of Canvas King for 15 years
Walter A. King, 68, of Coldwater, (formerly of Grand Haven) died Thursday March 27, 2003 at Foote Hospital in Jackson.
He was born May 1, 1934 to Dwight and Mary E. (Ailles) King in Hazel Park.
Mr. King was a former electrician for various electrical contractors in the Detroit area for many years and had been in partnership of the Canvas King with his brother in Spring Lake for approximately 15 years before his retirement.
Mr. King is survived by his mother, Mary E. Fisher of Grand Haven, his daughter, Sue (Ron) White of Grand Haven, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary (Dale) Cayo of Spring Lake; his brother Dwight W. "Red" (Phyllis) King of Fruitport and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight.
Funeral services for Mr. King will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at VanZantwick, Bartels and Kammeraad Funeral Home, Grand Haven, with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Friends may meet the family 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.

Esperanza Trujillo
Member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church
Esperanza Trujillo, 81, of Spring Lake died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003.
She was born in Mexico City, Mexico on May 8, 1921, to Pedro and Aurora (Flores) Casillas; and married Elias Trujillo on Feb. 2, 1944, in Mexico.
Mrs. Trujillo had been employed as a factory worker at Metalcraft Co. in Chicago until retiring. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was very family oriented.
Survivors include a son, William (Mary) Trujillo of Spring Lake; a daughter, Rosemary (Don) Neff of Spring Lake; four grandchildren: Lisa, Lori and Richard Sevcik, and Tate Trujillo; two great-granddaughters, Emily and Nicole Morris; and a friend, Guillermo Vidal of Spring Lake.
Arrangements are being handled by the Clock Funeral Home of Fruitport.
Services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2003, at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL with Deacon Sal Villa officiating. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation: Friday, 3-8 p.m. at Clock Funeral Home.

Dorphine Palmquist
Employed by Howmet Corp. for 28 years
Dorphine "Dottie" L. Palmquist, 82, of Grand Haven died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003.
She was born Jan. 21, 1921, to Julius and Lola (Converse) DuBlank in Mt. Pleasant; and married William Russell Palmquist on July 30, 1959, in Rochester, Ind.
Mrs. Palmquist moved here in 1960 and had been employed by the Howmet Corp. for 28 years, retiring in 1983. She was a former member of the DAV Chapter 11 Auxiliary and UAW Local 1243.
Survivors include her husband, William, of 43 years; five daughters: Barbara VandenHeuvel of Ludington, Patricia (William) Ackerberg of Hesperia, Carol (Mike) Rance of Muskegon, Marilyn (Steve) Sarachman of Spring Lake and Janis (Larry) Velvick of Emmett, Idaho; two sons, Samuel Davis and Gerald (Kathy) Comstock, both of Grand Haven; a stepson, Russell N. Palmquist of Rockford; 25 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Angeline Post of Spring Lake and Connie Saunders of Hart; two brothers, Harold Fountain of Lansing and Ronald Caswell of Billings, Mont.; also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Barsha Thrailkill, Shirley Smith and Myrtle Geno; a brother, Donald Caswell; and sister-in-law, Betty Fountain.

A funeral service for Mrs. Palmquist will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Mr. John VanKuiken officiating. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
