H. Bruce Nyberg
ST. JOSEPH - Harry Bruce Nyberg, 65, of St. Joseph passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, at Harbert Community Church with the Rev. Ronald Magnuson officiating. Friends may meet with the family on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at church. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Berrien County Cancer Service or Harbert Community Church.
Bruce was born July 29, 1943, in Englewood, Ill., the son of Harry and Maynette (Sundelius) Nyberg. He graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1961 and attended Ferris State College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1971. Bruce worked for more than 30 years at New Products Corp. in Benton Harbor. He was a member of Harbert Community Church, Fraternal Order of Police, and The Elks Lodge in St. Joseph. Bruce enjoyed golfing, working in his yard, and spending time with family and his many friends.
Survivors include his mother, Maynette Nyberg of Grand Rapids, a sister, Sandy (Leon) Sherburn of Berrien Springs; one nephew, Lars Sherburn of Berrien Springs; and two nieces - Amelia Sherburn and Rebekah Sherburn all of Berrien Springs.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Harry Nyberg, in 1999.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman.
Vada Francis Anderson
SOUTH HAVEN - Vada Francis Anderson, 62, of South Haven passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 29, 2009.
She was born on May 30, 1946, in South Haven to Dominick and Gwendolyn Tragna. Vada was a graduate of South Haven High School and Kendall School of Design in Grand Rapids. She also received her master's degree in art from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Her first teaching job was for the Covert Public School for three years. Vada moved on to Watervliet High School and was Director of Art Education for 34 years. The staff of Watervliet High School remembers her as a well loved teacher who over the years taught the lives of thousands of students in a positive way. Kids responded to her because they knew she cared about them personally and she was able to bring out the best in each. Whether they had talent, students remember what they learned from "Miss Vada" about art and life. Her legacy at Watervliet schools is her love of and devotion to "her Kids."
Vada is survived by her beloved cat - Punkey; her brother, Joseph (Darlene) Tragna, and sister, Gwendolyn (Terry) Hinz, six nieces and nephews, nine great-nieces and nephews.

Victor E. Noack
COLOMA - Victor E. Noack, of Coloma passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at Bronson Hospital after suffering a fall at home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday June 6, at 11 a.m. at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service, 249 E. Center Street, Coloma. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Coloma Cemetery. Memorials may be made to, North Berrien Senior Center of Coloma.
Victor was born Dec. 28, 1931, in Coloma. On May 20, 1953, he married Jewel Jean Noack they celebrated 56 years of marriage. Victor served his country for two years as an Army Sgt. during the Korean War. He was a bricklayer for more than 50 years working for Pearson Construction Co. of Benton Harbor and other construction companies. Victor retired in 1982. He owned a blueberry farm for several years. He was a member of the American Legion in Coloma. Victor loved collecting his old antique cars and tractors, going to the tractor shows, and joining his friends at McDonalds for coffee.
Victor is survived by his wife, Jewel Jean; three children, Mark (Kim) Noack of Coloma, Rick (Kim) Noack of Montverde, Fla., and Karen (Tom) Querfurth of Coloma; three grandchildren, Justin Noack, Cassy Noack and Quincy Querfurth; his brother, Harold Noack and sister, Marqurite Knox.
In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by his brother, Al Noack, and two sisters, Dorothy Nutting and Clara Kroschel.
Joyce S. Williams
STAUNTON, ILL. - Joyce S. Williams nee Mayberry, age 65, of Staunton, ILL., died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 19, 1943, in Litchfield, Ill., the daughter of Jess and Daisy (Talbert) Mayberry.
On March 17, 1962, she married Melvin L. Williams, who survives.
She was a member of River of Life Assembly of God in Worden, Ill.
Joyce was born in Litchfield, Ill. She graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield, Ill., in 1960. She grew up in the Worden area where she met her husband, Melvin. They were married in 1962 and moved to Michigan in 1966. They moved back to the Staunton area in 1995.
Joyce enjoyed crocheting, volunteering for many activities at her church, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include husband, Melvin L. Williams of Staunton; sons, Gregory D. Williams of Staunton and Kevin L. (Sandra) Williams of Edwardsville, Ill.; daughter, Tabatha S. DeRossi of Three Oaks; grandchildren, Heather S. Williams, Janelyn Williams, Jessica Williams, Ashley DeRossi, Renee DeRossi, Joey DeRossi, Xavier Williams; four great-grandchildren; and sisters, Frances Best of Staunton and Helen (Charlie) Paul of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jess H. Mayberry and mother, Daisy B. Mayberry, nee Talbert; grandchild, Gabrielle Williams, who died Oct. 26, 1998; brother, Henry Mayberry; sisters, Norma Pumphrey and Lucy Meacham; brothers, Alfred Mayberry and Paul Mayberry.
Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel, Ill.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, at River of Life Assembly of God in Worden, IL., with the Rev. Dee Lynn officiating. Interment will be in Worden City Cemetery in Worden. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, River of Life Assembly of God, Diabetes Association.
Anna I. (Tavolacci) Coburn
WATERVLIET - "Set me free Dear Lord, from all of this pain and suffering." And He did. Anna fought a valiant battle with cancer, but became too weak to continue the fight. She passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, with her daughters and granddaughter by her side.
Anna was born Nov. 6, 1935, in Chicago, the first child of Lawrence and Anna Tavolacci. At the age of 10, the family moved to Watervliet, where Anna graduated high school. She was employed at Clark Equipment in Benton Harbor when she met her beloved husband John. They were married for 53 years. After having their three children, Anna was employed at Bridges Chevrolet in Watervliet, Gran Tran in Coloma, and Regal Finishing in Coloma before retiring.
Besides cooking and spending time with her family and friends, in the earlier years Anna enjoyed camping and bowling. In the more recent years she enjoyed trips to Vegas and other casinos, watching the Food Channel, and spending the winters in Arizona with John and their beloved Chihuahua "Tamale."
Anna is now celebrating eternity in heaven with her husband, John, their son, Lawrence John Coburn, her parents, her sister, Patricia Franklin, her aunt, Grace LoPresti, her uncle, Nick LoPresti, and many other relatives and friends.
Anna will be missed deeply by many people, mostly her family which includes children and grandchildren: Kathryn (Barry) Summers - (Alexa), Carol Ann Finley (Jennifer and Corey), granddaughter, Rena Postelli, Sheri (Lance) Bromley - (Marie, Mandi, Michael), John (Sarah) Coburn Jr. - (Jonathan and Brianna); seven great-grandchildren, her brother, Sam (Diane) Tavolacci, her aunt, Beulah LoPresti, and many other relatives.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet where visitation will be held Tuesday, June 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet. Memorials may be made in Anna's memory to the West Michigan Cancer Center in Kalamazoo or the American Cancer Society.
Eva Marie Behnke
DOWAGIAC - Eva's life began on Jan. 18, 1919, in Libertyville, Ill., the daughter of Lloyd and Mary (Erfitt) Bennett. She was united in marriage to Emil Behnke on June 11, 1938, in Dowagiac. Eva was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dowagiac.
Her loving family includes her children, Ronald E. (Barbara) Behnke of Cassopolis, William L. (Karen) Behnke of Cassopolis and Sherry (James) Poloshak of Coloma; grandchildren, John (Tina) Behnke, Judy ( Jeff) Johnson, Jamie Behnke, Lloyd (Christy) Behnke, Mike (Stacy) Behnke, Jim Noack, and Jodi Odem; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Nathan Behnke, Kyle and Valerie Johnson, James and Sonny Behnke, Mercedes and Hunter Behnke, Ashley, James Jr, Jessie and Zack Noack; and stepgrandchildren, Samantha and Stephanie, Zech and Tyler Huston, Bryanna Behnke and Nickie Quadros; sisters, Vera Geideman of Niles, Marian Stiles of Berrien Springs and Mary Braman of East Jordan.
Eva passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil in 1995, and brothers, Carlisle, Archie, Peter and Calvin Bennett.
Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home, Dowagiac. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church led by the Rev. Jeffrey Weber. Eva will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
Agnes Rutz Sink
BENTON HARBOR - Agnes Rutz Sink, 94, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Leesburg, Fla., died Feb. 7, 2009. She was born in Stevensville and moved to Florida in 1970 from Benton Harbor. She was a registered nurse at the Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor and at Leesburg General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burson, her parents, and eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Little (James Lee) of Seminole, Fla., Kathi Grams (Jim) of Benton Harbor and Bonnie Moore (Jerry) of LaPorte, Ind., grandchildren, Monica (Little) Plummer, Melissa (Little) Kavanagh, Barry and Kristen (Moore) Forburger, David Grams and Laura (Grams) Lausch; 10 great-grandchildren, and by many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the home of Jim and Kathi Grams.
