Ruth Lee McGuire
Age 67 of Grand Haven, Michigan formerly of Elsie passed away Sunday, January 28, 2001 at North Ottawa Community Hospital in Grand Haven.
Ruth worked for Hazel Findlay Nursing Home in St. Johns retiring in 1996.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2001 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Pastor Randy Stehouwer will officiate. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday 6-8 and Wednesday 2-8 with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.m.
She was born in Virginia on May 9, 1933, the daughter of Leo and Hazel (Stafford) Lyle. On July 26, 1953 she married Rev. Harold McGuire in Birmingham, Alabama. She was of Baptist Faith and served a number of Churches where her husband was the Pastor. She was a member of D.A.V. Auxiliary, and resided most of her life in the Elsie area before moving to Grand Haven in 1996.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Harold McGuire of Grand Haven, MI, four daughters, Sharon Miller of Lansing, MI, Cathleen (John) Bylsma of Grand Haven, MI, Harriet (Art) Grice of Bath, MI, and Carolyn (Richard) Ferrall of Bannister, MI, four sons, Rick McGuire of Muskegon, MI, James McGuire of Lansing, MI, and Stanley (Jenni) McGuire of Texas, eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren, her mother, Hazel Anderson of Grand Haven, MI, sister Carol Barton of California, and four brothers, Gerald (Genie) Lyle of Richland, MI, Gordon (Joy) Lyle of Raymond, MS, Jon (Brit) Lyle of Norway, and David (Vada) Lyle of Schererville, IN. She was predeceased by her father Leo, stepfather Gus Anderson, and one daughter. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.

Rita Mae Weber
Age 71 of Highlands Ranch, Colorado formerly of St. Louis died Thursday, January 25, 2001 in Littleton, Colorado.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, January 29, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Louis, at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be Monday morning at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis.
Rita was born August 20, 1929 in Norway Michigan. On June 30, 1951 she married Bruce M. Weber in Norway, Michigan, he predeceased her. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include; 1 daughter, Kathleen Spence of Littleton, CO, 2 sons Patrick Weber of Boca Raton, FL, Timothy Weber of Indianapolis, IN, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family is being served by Alward-Carter Funeral Home in St. Louis, Michigan.
Betty R. Brown
Age 79 of Lake Isabella in Weidman, Michigan formerly of Corunna passed away Monday, January 22, 2001 at her home in Tavares, Florida.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2001 at 10:00 A.m. at Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel with The Rev. Russell Merrill officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Corunna, Michigan. Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday 3-9 with the family present from 3-6 and 7-9 P.m.
She was born in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania on July 31, 1921, the daughter of Fred W. and Bernice (Curry) Hasselback. Her first husband was Donald Griffin who owned Griffin Insurance Agency, after his death she got her Insurance license and carried on the business for twenty-five years until retiring in 1978. They were blessed with two children, William and Carolyn Griffin. Her son died at the age of 27 from a diving accident. In 1961, she than married Allan Brown, they had nearly 40 years together and bought a winter home at Impereal Terrace, Tavares, Florida in 1979, and have had a beautiful retirement. She also worked as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of Women’s Club of Corunna, VFW Auxiliary 4005, Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Corporation. She belonged to the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Corunna and when in Florida, St. Edwards Episcopal Church of Mount Dora.
Survivors include her husband, Allan Brown of Tavares, FL, one daughter Carolyn (Jerry) Mars of Corunna, MI, three grandchildren, Patrick, Benjamin, and Shannon Mars, brother, James (Loretta) Hasselback of Corunna, MI, and a sister, Mary Ann (Garrett) Loode of Flushing, MI. She was predeceased by her first husband, Donald R. Griffin, one son, William E. Griffin, and three brothers, Fredrick W. Robert, and Richard Hasselback.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lake & Sumter Hospice or Charity of Donor’s choice.
