Barney Junior Potter
Age 52 of Alma, Michigan passed away Monday, August 5, 2002 at his home due to complications with an illness.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 8, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Wesleyan Holiness Church in St. Louis, Michigan. Rev. Nathan Shockley will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 P.M.
Barney was born on December 18, 1949 in Alma, Michigan the son of Lyle Lance & Catherine (Gachter) Potter. He graduated from Alma High School with the Class of 1967. Barney enjoyed bowling, fishing, and going out to eat. In past years, he enjoyed roller-skating. He also loved to do home crafts. Barney was a Member of the Wesleyan Holiness Church in St. Louis and resided most of his life in the Alma area.
He is survived by his life long companion, Donna June Burr, Mother, Catherine Potter, 4 brothers, Lyle Robert & Mary Potter, John Earl & Cheryl Potter, Danny Gene & Becky Potter, Rex Monroe & Joni Potter, 2 sisters, Linda Kay & Jeff Dietrich, Dinah Marie & Tom Bird, half-sister, Ztella & Chuck Partlow of California and several nieces & nephews. Barney is predeceased by his father.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Family. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Alward-Carter Chapel, St. Louis.
Francis G. Farmer
Age 89 of St. Johns, Michigan passed away Wednesday, August 07, 2002 at his home. He was a retired Minister who served a number of churches and he also worked for Wheeling Steel Corporation.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 10, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Toothman Funeral Home, 141 S. Marietta Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio. Pastor Tom Wilson will officiate with burial at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio. Visitation will be Thursday August 8, 2002 from 4-9 P.M at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.
Francis was born on May 9, 1913 in Bellaire, Ohio the son of Francis M. & Edith (Fitch) Farmer. He attended Bellaire High School in Ohio and on June 23, 1934 he married Loretta B. Ashoff in Wheeling, West Virginia. She passed away February 20, 1999. Francis was a Member of AARP and resided most of his life in Bellaire, Ohio.
He is survived by his son, Wayne & Betty Farmer of Dewitt, grandchildren, Chris & Paul Bullock of Morris, Rebecca & Arthur Lied of Swartz Creek, Deborah & David Bergren of Rockford, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and one brother, Norman Farmer of Indiana. Francis is predeceased by his parents, wife Loretta, two brothers, William & Lester and three sisters, Elizabeth, Grace & Doris.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Johns Free Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns.
Mina E. Vanderkarr
Age 82 of Corunna, Michigan passed away Thursday, August 1, 2002 at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso, Michigan. She was a nurse.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel. Pastor Roger DeVore will officiate with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery in Corunna, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Mina was born on January 12, 1920 in Michigan the daughter of Orrie & Lena (Kerby) Middleton. She graduated from Corunna High School with the Class of 1937. She was married to the late Wayne Vanderkarr. She was a Member of the Corunna Women's Club and the First Church of the Nazarene in Owosso, Michigan. Mina resided most of her life in Corunna, Michigan.
She survived by one son, Lee & Norma Vanderkarr of Corunna, two daughters, Elaine & Art Henke of Ann Arbor, Luanne & Eldred Kelley of Avon Park, Florida, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Bill & Helen Middleton of Climax, Bud & Dorothy Middleton of Cassville, Missouri, and one sister-in-law, Lucille Middleton of Michigan. Mina was predeceased by her parents, husband and one brother, Fred "Pete" Middleton.
