Allen H. Hunting
Age 72 of Ashley, Michigan passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. He was a Technical manager for Hush Puppies International, Wolverine World Wide in Rockford, serving 90 countries around the world for 46 years until his retirement in 1995.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel. Rev. Jana Jirak will officiate with burial at North Star Cemetery in North Star, Michigan. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 P.M. and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Allen was born on March 31, 1930 in Rockford, Michigan the son of Arnold and Lela (Whitbeck) Hunting. He attended and graduated from Rockford High School in Rockford, Michigan. On August 7, 1975 he married Ruth Sadler in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He loved to travel; golf and he had a flower garden. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Ashley United Methodist Church and he resided most of his life in the Rockford and Ashley areas.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Hunting of Ashley, five children, Connie & Ron Joy of Kingman, Arizona, Scott & Wilma Hunting of Kalkaska, David Oberlitner of Ithaca, Amie Oberlitner of Lansing, Michelle Maynard of Lansing, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Allen is predeceased by his parents, one sister Barb Smits and one grandson Eddie Stark.
Memorials may be made to the Ashley United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
Neal Duwayne Hamilton
Age 73 of Elwell, Michigan passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Pine River Healthcare in St. Louis, Michigan. He retired in August 1986 from Alma Products after working there for 39 years.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 2, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Alward-Carter Chapel, St. Louis. Dr. James Amstutz, Minister will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 P.M.
Neal was born on February 6, 1929 in Green County, West Virginia the son of Hiram & Opal (Himelrick) Hamilton. On August 3, 1983 he married Emma Waldron in Riverdale, Michigan. Neal was a good family man and was a good friend that would gladly help anyone. He had a gift of love that was shared with many people. He was a past Member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Emma L. Hamilton of Elwell, daughter Charlotte & Ray Omans, stepchildren, Rachel & Sam Knopf, Paul Tkaczyk, Joseph Tkaczyk, Emma Miller, Katrina Watson, Nicholas Tkaczyk, Robert Tkaczyk, Lori Mepham, Darlene Jewel, Marian Wright, Ivan Wheeler, Robert Wheeler, Carol LaCross, one brother Leslie & Faith Hamilton, 22 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Neal is predeceased by his parents, stepmother Pearl Hamilton and one brother Wayne Hamilton.

Gladys Mae Weathers
Age 85 of Corunna, Michigan passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso, Michigan. She was a homemaker who enjoyed putting puzzles together and playing bingo.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 29, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel. Pastor Olaf Lidums will officiate with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be Saturday 6-8 P.M. and Sunday 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Gladys was born on April 5, 1917 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of Sidney & Ella (Hayward) Weathers. She graduated from Saginaw High School with the class of 1935. On November 14, 1939 she married Jerome Weathers in Oakley, Michigan. He preceded her in death. Gladys was a Member of the Juddville United Methodist Church and a Member of the VFW Auxiliary in New Lothrop. She resided most of her life in Chesaning & New Lothrop, moving to Corunna 3 years ago.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley & Robert Bullard of Vernon, one son, Larry & Margery Weathers of Corunna, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one sister, Mildred Fagan of Saginaw, one brother, Donald Weathers of Shields and one daughter-in-law, Glenda Weathers of Marquette. Gladys is predeceased by her parents, one son, James Weathers and one, brother Earl Weathers.
