Eleanor N. Demjen
Age 76 of Elsie, Michigan passed away Monday, July 22, 2002 at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed going to rummage sales.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Pastor Bill Stites will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Eleanor was born on July 17, 1926 in Ashley, Michigan the daughter of John & Sarah (Harnes) Ross. In September 1942 in Angola, Indiana she married Frank Demjen. She resided most of her life in Gratiot & Saginaw County.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Demjen of Elsie, one daughter, Judy & Ron Miller of Elsie, two sons, Harold & Marlus Deming of Elsie, Jerry & Dawn Deming of Elsie, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one daughter-in-law, Carol "Mousie" & Tony Deming of Elsie. Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, one son Johnny, one grandson Brad, one great granddaughter Tiffany, one sister Effie and two brothers, Kenneth & Clarence.

Beulah I. Morford
Age 75 of St. Louis, Michigan passed away Tuesday, October 08, 2002 at Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. She worked at Guthrie's Dry Goods and Mey's Drug Store, both in Breckenridge, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 10, 2002 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Alward-Carter Chapel, St. Louis, Michigan. Pastor Lillian French will officiate with burial at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Breckenridge, Michigan. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 P.M.
Beulah was born February 20, 1927 in Jasper Township, Midland County, Michigan the daughter of Earl & Dorothy (Palmer) Hoyt. She attended Goodyear Country School and St. Louis High School. On April 28, 1943 she married Leland Morford in St. Louis, Michigan. She was a member of St. Louis First United Methodist Church, and in the past she enjoyed golfing and bowling. Beulah and Leland really enjoyed their winters in Florida. Beulah was born and raised in the Jasper Township area. After marrying Leland, they moved to Breckenridge to raise their family. Later on, they moved to Edenville before moving back to the St. Louis area.
Beulah is survived by her husband, Leland Morford of St. Louis, one son, David and Barbara Morford of St. Louis, one daughter, Judith and Jeffrie Cole of Midland, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one brother, Keith and Marge Hoyt of St. Louis, and one sister, Doris & Johnny Vibber of St. Louis. She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers.

William "Bill" G. Lemke
Age 82 of Ovid, Michigan passed away Wednesday, October 09, 2002 at the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing, Michigan. He was employed by International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for over 50 years, retiring in 1984.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 12, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Rev. Merlin Pratt will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8:00 P.M. and Friday from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 P.M.
Bill was born on June 29, 1920 in Gilby, North Dakota the son of George W. and Minnie (Franz) Lemke. He attended Polk County Schools. On November 19, 1947 he married Jean Yerian in Crookston, Minnesota. Bill loved gardening, yard work, and cooking. He also loved to tinker with and fix things. In the past, he was in charge of Bingo at the American Legion. He served as Commander and in several other offices in the American Legion. He has always been a USA patriot, advocating for "Buy American". Devoted husband and father, his grandchildren and great grandchild were his life's joy. He attended Elsie United Methodist Church and was a very active member of the American Legion, VFW and IBEW Local #665 in Lansing. Bill resided in Crookston, Minnesota from 1947-1966. He then moved to Elsie in 1966 and had resided in Ovid since 1977.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Lemke of Ovid, four children, Gordon Lemke of Ithaca, Cheryl Lemke & David Shough of Santa Monica, CA, Nancy & Tom Hughson of Ovid, Randy & Beverly Lemke of Elsie, 4 grandchildren, John Lemke, Jody & Craig Thornton, Jaclyn & Chip Simon, Cody Leslie and one great grandson, Grant Thornton.
